Lizards, snakes, and turtles are collectively referred to as one race, the reptilians. Known as the “dirty deed” workers among critters, they bear the brunt of dangerous and unsavoury jobs such as plumbing, mining, and waste management. Although one might find an occasional gecko trying to pursue an unexpected odd job if they look around closely.

They are reviled by dogs and cats due to some of them being natural carriers of the salmonella bacteria and are subsequently banned from most cities. Those who are “clean” are required to wear special permits when roaming the streets. Avians tend to treat them as allies as they both mutually worship Barbera, the goddess of health and vitality.

The scorching hot canyons of the Drylands are the preferred homes of the snakes and lizards. Turtles live closer to the Forests and the Wetlands as they are more aquatic.

Rodents are small and skittish critters who live in underground burrows. Proficient in engineering, they dig up precious metals from the Land of The Giants to build their own unique brand of complex gadgets, robotics, and even weapons to assist themselves as well as aid in the defence of their cities. They are notable for their opportunism, always devising methods to adapt to their circumstances even at the risk of death. They live under a devout theocracy, expected to follow the teachings of the rat deity Degus; the primary statements of these that it is acceptable to reap the earth of natural resources for the good of their own kind. Many see them as lesser beings for this very reason, if not outright greeting them with a cold shoulder.
