It must have been crazy for Inuyasha to know that someone would walk on acid, take an arrow and defend him in the face of adversity, all to save his life.

He’s so protective of the people he cares about, but to have that reciprocated? Genuinely and without ulterior motives? He probably didn’t know how to process it. His own brother despised him and the only one who did protect him was his mother before she died.

Kagome’s era is more progressive and she’s been taught to be accepting of others; wholeheartedly. So why wouldn’t she defend him? Save his life? He constantly puts his life on the line for her, she returns the favor.

Not only that, but she’s showed Inuyasha that she’s not the only one who’s got his back.
