Summery: you're a noble in the fire nation, held to high expectations and seriousness, but all that seems to chip away when you're with your boyfriend, Aang.
Yes, I know I have completely disappeared and I would like to say I am very sorry. There are a few personal things happening that have kept me occupied, but I do plan on coming back.
I have decided I no longer want to fully focus on ATLA fanfics, I want to branch out into different characters and different scenarios. I like the idea of cowboy characters, vampires , princes, all sorts of random things but fics that aren't usually common. For example, cowboys, but not a specific cowboy, just in insert . Get it ?
Well, anyways , my plan is to completely change my page and fiction. So, with that being said, I will be finishing my sokka fan fic and moving on from Avatar, but I would also like to say thank you for the amazing support you have all provided, and I hope you aren't mad at me for making this decision . Thank you
Hi! I can request a noble reader from the Fire Nation who always maintains a serious and polite face to everyone except when it comes to her lover Aang, who makes her nervous and makes her laugh 💗

— one shot ( fluff )
Summery: you're a noble in the fire nation, held to high expectations and seriousness, but all that seems to chip away when you're with your boyfriend, Aang.
Mentions: physical touch, kissing
Being a nobal woman of the fire nation was no easy task. People had very high expectations of you. You were expected to keep this image of being a very serious, put-together woman. A woman who held her head high and was very polite. It's not that you didn't enjoy your statues or the way life played out for you because you were very grateful for it all, but sometimes you wished you had more freedom. Not to do anything that was out of the ordinary, but to let your gaurd down and spend more time with the one and only man who was able to make you smile and giggle no matter how serious you tried to be.
He had gotten you in trouble countless times, bitter scolds or the yelling of your name, but you couldn't help it. Somehow, you managed to find him in every crowd. It could've been because of his size. He was a large man and stood out in the crowd, or it could've been the bright oranges and yellows he wore that stood out between the darker fabrics of the fire nation. Either way, you always made eye contact, and the ends of your lips would curve into a small smile without you even noticing .
"Quit your smiling !" Your mother scolded, and your lips quickly pressed into a firm line. It took everything in you to remain serious, but as soon as you glanced into the crowd and saw Aang's face, your lips threatened to betray you once more.
Today was an important day for your family, and you were obligated to follow. You weren't sure what it was about. You were simply told to keep serious and quiet. It was something to do with the Fire Lord and your father, but nothing to do with you. You simply sat off to the side with the rest of your family and would occasionally glance into the crowd of people that stood below you, and Aang.
You sat with your back straight, your hands on your lap and your face beautifully painted. A dress made just for you, measured to fit every curve perfectly, almost restraining you from relaxing in your seat, but that's what came with being a nobal. You were meant to look elegant, put together, and too good to slouch in a chair.
Aang knew she'd be here, she didn't notify him, and It wasn't because she didn't want him there, but because she knew he always managed to get her in trouble with a smile. He hated to know her mother would scold her for breaking character, but Aang couldn't help himself. He wanted to be wherever she was, see her whenever he could get the chance. He, of course, would apologize profusely after, but she never seemed to mind. It was clear she enjoyed seeing him in the crowd as much as Aang enjoyed seeing her from within the crowd.
Aang kept his eyes on her the whole time, watching as she would occasionally glance into the crowd and meet his gaze. Oh, he wished this event would go by quicker so he could see her up close and not so far.
You were secretly wishing the same, wanting nothing more than to be with Aang. You told your mother you'd go see him after, and she always allowed it, under one condition, behave . You were expected to keep a good reputation and not get caught doing anything inappropriate in public, which was never an issue. You and Aang were private, while everyone knew the Avatar was your boyfriend. Whatever you both did together was between you both unless it was a nice outing during the day or watching the stars late at night.
You felt like you had sat there for ages until finally everyone rose from their seat, including you. You bow at the Fire Lord, along with the rest of your family. You became impatient , wanting to run off stage, but you couldn't. You had to remain serious and remain polite and respectful, especially in Zuko's presence . Even if you knew the man personally, and he would occasionally join you and Aang alongside the siblings and toph for some random adventure Aang always had, you still had to show your respect in front of the fire nation.
You could almost sense Aang's excitement from the crowd , taking a moment to glance at him, then at Zuko, then back to Aang who... was gone. Your smile dropped immediately, and you began to scan the crowd, but he was nowhere to be seen. Oh, he wasn't that hard to spot !
"Mother, can I leave?" You ask in a whisper , leaning closer to your mother so she could hear you speak.
"Aren't you going to stay for dinner ?" She'd ask, but then spoke again, "or will you be with Aang?"
You couldn't help but smile at hearing his name, "Yes.." You respond. "Run along, but behave." Your mother would say, and you nod your head in response, then made your way off the stage, but as soon as your feet touched the ground, you ran. You knew where to find him.
You always meet Aang in the same spot every time. It was a park with a beautiful fountain, but it was a little further out, one could say, placed in a very inconvenient spot, but for you and Aang, it was perfect. It was almost always empty, especially around later hours, and you didn't need to worry about keeping up your imagine.
You had arrived to the fountain, almost breathless, hating the dress you were forced to wear and almost regretting not having brought a change of clothes. Oh well, it was something you were willing to deal with as long as you could be with Aang who.. wasn't by the fountain.
You took a moment to look around, nothing, Aang wasn't there. Maybe he was running a little late, so you chose to stay and made yourself comfortable on the edge of the fountai, and simply hoped he wouldn't take too long.
Your gaze moved up towards the sky, watching as the sun slowly set . It was a view you loved, one you enjoyed sharing with Aang.
Aang was there, finding so much joy in seeing as she waited for him. He liked to mess with her, make her laugh until she was left breathless, but today he wanted to try something new. He wanted to scare her, unaware that he was making a horrible mistake.
Wind began to pick up around you, and you only assumed it was the weather acting a little out of hand. So you thought nothing of it until you felt a stronger gust of wind move over you and ruining your hair. You turned around quickly, knowing it had to be Aang, but you didn't see him. It was.. weird. The wind stopped, and that gave him away. You knew it was Aang messing with you.
" Alright, Aang, this isn't funny. Come out!" You called out , carefully scanning the area but not seeing him. There was no way he could hide that well!
"Aang!" You called, "I know it's you, come out already!" You'd call out again, but no response.
Then, there it was, you felt something.. someone, grab you. You turned around in a panic, quick, and without thought, a flame shooting from your palms as your arms rose from your sides in defense.
Aang gasped but was quick and was able to dodge the flame coming from your hands, but if he had hair, it would've gotten him .
"Oh my goodness !" You cried, "Aang! What are you doing!" Aang has never scared you, not once, and he didn't know how you'd react, and well, neither did you. It was safe to say you were both very shocked by your reaction.
"Did I burn you?" You ask, your voice full of worry as you reached up to touch his head. It was warm, but it didn't burn him. "Oh Aang.. if you had hair, I would've burned you."
"I know!" Aang laughed, and hearing him laugh was enough to lighten the mood. He didn't feel there was a need to take this seriously, he completely understood it was his fault for scaring you but it was definitely a surprise to him.
You tried to be serious so he could understand the severity of what he just did, but Aang could only laugh. You tried to force a serious attitude on him too, but you couldn't help but laugh along with him. You could never be serious with him, it just wasn't possible.
"Oh, you should've seen your face!" Aang laugh.
" Oh, it wasn't that funny!" You'd playfully snap, but you knew Aang always found great pleasure in messing with you, and you were completely content with it all.
"This better not be a constant thing you do from now on." You warned, but from the look on Aang's face, you could tell it would be.
" You've got amazing reflexes. " Aang commented, " You scared me for a second. "
"I scared you!?" You gasped, but a soft laugh followed. "Oh you poor thing!" You cried playfully, reaching up to cup his face and bring him down for a kiss.
Aang leaned in, meeting you halfway to connect his lips with yours, but soft giggles would continue to spill out of his mouth, making you pull away .
" I planned a surprise for you." Aang whispered, hands trailing down to your hips, a spot his hands always found themselves in.
"A surprise... another one?" You whined.
" oh I won't scare you again if that's what you think." Aang said.
" you better be telling the truth, or I'll burn your eyebrows off." You said, "My eyebrows? Oh well, what's a little less hair?" He'd laugh.
Frozen Waters, Burning Hearts ( Sokka x fire bender! Reader )
— Chapter 4
Summery : You're a powerful fire bender, a woman who was supposed to lead armies into war, but you have a wish of being free. You've gotten comfortable in Wolf Cove, but now it's time to move. Unaware of your father's plans, Zuko has launched a search, making it his mission to bring you home.
It was getting late, and the fire lord's duties had come to an end for the day, but of course, there was no such thing as rest for the emperor. He had received an urgent message, and while no one could ever disrupt him unless it was the Avatar, this man was just as important. Zenji Hachiman, his general. He sent out an urgent message, urging a meeting that could define life or death for his daughter.
There were endless thoughts that ran through Zuko's head, and they were all bad. What if this was a kidnapping ? What if they took her, and planned on using her as bait, for a plan, for money, or what if this was just the beginning of an attack that could define the future of the fire nation. He dug himself into a hole of distress, his palms pressed against his forehead as he leaned over the meeting table, foot tapping anxiously against the wooden floors as he waiting for zenji and his wife to join him.
Zuko was aware of her powers. She was strong, possessing the ability to bend more than just fire. At first, he doubted her greatly, but her father insisted she'd be a perfect replacement the day he could no longer continue his duties. Zuko had swallowed his own words that day, being taken aback by her fire bending skills, possessing many great abilities, but one skill caught his attention. Something rare.
Combustion bending. She was born to two non benders and, somehow , was able to master something so difficult, so powerful . He couldn't let her go missing, not when she would be of great use, a powerful general that would benefit his army.
He could remember the first time he met her, how she grinned in his face, as if she was mocking him, as if she was challenging him for something more. She was bold, showed no fear, but in her eyes, he could see it. She was soft , an emotional woman but she controlled herself well, keeping herself together throughout every fight.
Zuko was amazed by her. He challenged her many times, wanting to see just how strong she could be, just how bold her bending could get, and while she accepted many times, her father forced her to turn down, claiming it would be of great disrespect . Zuko was disappointed in her father's constant involvement in her life, but he chose to never say a word.
Now there he sat, worried for the woman , knowing deep down it wasn't only because of her abilities or because she is the daughter of his general. She was a beautiful young woman, her power and confidence in fighting, making her a woman zuko felt suited to the fire nation. She was determined, always striving for what she wanted. She was a tough fighter, but possessed a gentle touch , her finger tips feeling like feathers grazing his skin.
There were nights she had come closer but never allowed herself to give in completely. It was nothing but wishful thinking, feeling as tiny flames would run over his skin, giving him a tingling sensation he almost yearned for. Unfortunately, she had turned him down countless times, making his days long and training miserable . She swore she'd never marry him , and the thought sat heavy on Zuko's mind.
The sound of heavy creaking doors snapped Zuko out of his thoughts. He removed his hands off his face and rose from his seat as the general entered the room with his wife trailing behind him.
" Fire Lord Zuko." Zenji spoke, bowing his head , and his wife did the same.
Zenji's arms were glued to his sides, his posture as straight as a pencil. His voice firm and loud, "I apologize for being such a bother at these hours , Lord Zuko, but I-"
Zuko cut him off, " I know. Please, have a seat and there is no need to be so formal. I understand this is a difficult time for you both ." And with those words, Hanako let out a cry. Zuko hated the sight of a weeping mother, it made his heart ache.
Zenji took a moment to look his wife's direction, then took her hand and carefully led her to one of the seats. Zuko didn't rush them, but he did note how her face had swollen from her crying , and her hands clung to a makeup stained tissue she'd use to wipe away any tear that fell from her eyes.
Zuko didn't say a word. He let Zenji take the lead in the conversation this time. He folded his hands neatly on the table in front of him, a tense gaze in the emperor's eyes as he observed Zenji. He showed no signs of grief. He was almost emotionless. It was strange. Zuko was no father, but he could only assume what it would be like to not know the wearabouts of a son or daughter you've raised for so many years.
"My daughter is missing , we've searched the fire nation from top to bottom, and there is not a single trace of her . " he started.
" Did you ask fire gaurds if they had seen her?" Zuko asked.
"Yes, Lord Zuko, one claims he had seen someone leave the fire nation early in the morning, the night before we discovered her disappearance." He states .
Zuko's gaze shifted to the wife, who refused to look at the emperor. She held the napkin close to her chest, also holding a necklace. It was a necklace of honor , the one her daughter wore, something she never took off. " Was she alone ?" He suddenly asked.
" Yes. " zenji responds .
This made zuko worry more. He stood from his seat, unable to contain himself in one spot. He began to pace back and forth across the windows of his conference room, eyes scanning the outside through his windows, observing every person that moved below him. This couldn't be right. Why would she ever leave the fire nation against her own will ? It made no sense, not unless someone was forcing her to.
His steps came to a pause, and then his gaze shifted to the ground under him. "Someone could've forced her to abandon the fire nation . Perhaps a threat. " Then his gaze was back on Zenji and Hanako. " she's a powerful woman, but if this is a threat of high power, she could be in great danger. "
"I will initiate an emergency search and have soldiers head into Republic City and the earth kingdom first . I will deploy ships and air ships to cover both land and water for any signs of her wearabouts, and I will also have soldiers monitor the Fire nation and keep an eye out for any suspicious activity or new faces. Zenji, you stay put. I will conduct this search." He spoke in a firm voice.
The weeping mother cried out to him, " Oh, thank you, Fire Lord Zuko." And her husband, Zenji, rose from his seat and bowed to his emperor. " Thank you, Lord Zuko. Please, bring home our daughter, I will promise to recompense you greatly for your help."
—
Present time, Republic city
"Don't worry so much, katara, I'm sure he's fine. Maybe he just... got caught up in a few things, he'll get here soon." A soft voice spoke from the room, footsteps getting louder as he came closer.
Katara refused to respond or even look his way. She had been on the balcony of her shared bedroom all afternoon, leaning over the beautifully made railing as she waited for any signs of her brother.
"Katara.." Aang whispered, moving to wrap his arms around her from behind, hoping it would be enough to get her attention, and it was. "I'm worried, Aang." She started. "This isn't like him. He should be here already. What if something bad happened to him?"
Katara pulled away and turned to look up at Aang. She was worried, and she could see the concern in Aang's face also. He wasn't very good at hiding his emotions, and it didn't help ease katara's thoughts. "I think it's best I go back home, Aang."
Disappointment washed over Aang, but he knew he couldn't stop her. She cared for her brother far too much, and nothing would keep her in Republic City, not even if he protested against it. He nodded , letting a sigh leave his lips, "Alright, if you want, I'll go get Appa, and I'll take you tonight." Aang reassured, and seeing the smile on katara's face was enough for him to not second guess his offer. Aang was just about to speak again, but when his lips parted, no words came out. Something in the distance caught his attention all of a sudden, and his eyes went wide at the sight.
Katara saw the shift in Aang's face, seeing how his previous expression dropped to surprise, perhaps not knowing what he was looking at. She quickly turned her head, and from a distance, she could see what had caught Aang's attention. It was an Eagle from the water tribe, and it carried a scroll in its beak. Katara lightened up, and as the bird came closer , she stepped onto the railing to reach for it.
" katara!" Aang yelled, quickly reaching out to grab her by her hips to prevent her from falling off the railing as she took the bird onto her forearm.
"He comes from the Water tribe!" She said, almost breathless from her leap. "And this..." she took the scroll from the beak of the bird as the bird moved to rest on the railing . "... is sokka's handwriting!" She nearly squealed in relief, and Aang moved closer to look over the letter with her, completely ignoring his rapid breathing from the scare katara gave him.
Katara was finally able to relax a little, letting her shoulders drop, and her gaze softened as she read over the letter. It was short, quick, something about an invention he was working on that caught fire, something about being delayed because he needed to do someone a huge favor ... and at the end, he promised her he'd be in Republic City soon. He also did add a 'don't forget to write me back' note at the bottom, and it made katara laugh. "Oh, he's just caught up in his inventions. That's what has him so busy...but this is so strange, he doesn't usually sends letters." And of course, that bit of worry still lingered, but she chose to ignore it.
"Katara." Aang whispers.
"But he said he'll be here soon!"
"Katara." Aang repeats, this time louder.
"I should write him back ! Aang could you -"
"Katara!" Aang snapped.
Katara was startled but also confused by Aang's sudden outburst. "What's wrong, Aang?" She asked, her tone slightly bitter, but upon seeing Aang's face, she knew something wasn't right. She set the letter down and stepped closer, placing her hands over his chest, "What's bothering you?" But Aang refused to look at her. Instead, his gaze remained tense, his lips pressed into a firm frown as he stared over the balcony of their shared bedroom and into the street below them.
"There's something wrong." He said, his voice remaining low, too low.
Katara was hesitant but looked over the railing carefully, expecting to see something that wasn't worth the worry , hoping Aang was just being a little dramatic. Fire gaurds were making their way through the street of Republic City and coming closer to their home by the second.
They both remained quiet, hoping not to draw any attention, but it was no use. They were there for katara and Aang, and one gaurd made that very clear. A loud, firm voice called out, "Avatar Aang!" The man started, "We have been sent by Fire Lord Zuko, and I am here to deliver an important message!"
Katara and Aang remained silent , meeting each other's gaze , a mutual agreement to head downstairs without words being used.
The gaurds waited patiently at the door. They remained silent and put, no signs of leaving or speaking another word until the door was opened. "Katara, Avatar Aang." The same gaurd spoke again, all of them bowing their head as a sign of respect. He then pulled a scroll from his pocket, handing the neatly folded letter to Aang. "Fire Lord Zuko has initiated an emergency search for the daughter of his general. She could be in danger "
Aang briefly looked over the letter Zuko had written. It went more in depth about the situation, and while he was aware that this was of great importance already, the letter only furthered his concern. Katara moved closer, letting her own eyes run over the letter .
"The Fire Nation General has a daughter?" She whispered to Aang, making the gaurd clear his throat. " Yes, he does. She's just kept hidden from other nations."
Her gaze shifted, glancing at the gaurd across from them. It was strange to her, who hides their children ? Especially one so powerful, she could understand the fear of potential harm, but keeping them completely unknown to the rest of the world seemed a little odd to her. Unlike katara, Aang didn't question it. The fire nation was a little more hostile, more private with their personal lives .
Finally, Aang spoke, nodding his head at the gaurd. "Alright, you do what is needed, and I will keep an eye out for any suspicious activity." He spoke in a more serious tone now, understanding the severity of Zuko's request.
"I hope she is found well." Katara spoke.
Her mood seemed to shift to something more concerned, distress almost. Aang didn't seem to catch on to her mood change, it wasn't until she left his side without a word. It was strange, but he let her go and assumed she was just tired. Aang stayed back, exchanging a couple more words with the fire guards and would join katara in a bit.
He tried not to take too long, and he really didn't but upon opening the door to their shared bedroom and seeing katara pacing back and forth, he felt he had taken longer than he would've liked, and perhaps left katara with her thoughts for too long. Aang wasn't even given the chance to ask, because as soon as he parted his lips to say some,
"I think he's lying to us."
Aang was confused about her sudden words. His mind didn't directly go to Sokka because the thought of sokka lying and having something to do with this didn't cross his mind. It was a ridiculous thing to think... right?
"... who's lying to us?" Aang asks in a hushed voice, slowly letting himself get closer to Katara, wanting to provide some sort of comfort for her.
"Sokka, what if he's lying to us ? Maybe that's why he refused to come so soon."
Aang let out a silent laugh, laced with nervousness and a sheepish smile on his face. " katara, you're overthinking -"
" Don't tell me I'm overthinking. " katara snapped
"Aang, he's my brother. I know him, and this isn't like him. He said he needed to do someone a favor, but he didn't tell me who and he always does. I remember.. the other morning, he was still fully dressed. He got home very late , he never gets home that late and - "
" katara." Aang said firmly. "I'll take you back to Wolf Cove tomorrow morning to ease your mind. He said he'd be coming to Republic City soon. It'll be like killing two birds with one stone. You're at peace, and sokka gets to Republic City quicker." And he hoped that would be enough for katara, but seeing her face, he knew it wasn't. She didn't want to go back and forth with him, not tonight at least.
" Fine. We'll head out tomorrow, but early in the morning. Before sun rises," Katara said, and Aang nodded in agreement. "Before sun rises." He repeated.
—
Present time , Wolf Cove
"I'm almost done, sokka. I won't take too long!" You called from the bathroom, brushing through your hair and tucking it in a more comfortable hairstyle. A half up, half down hairstyle. Something to keep it out of your face but also to keep it down. You were surprised at the warmth your hair provided to your ears and the sides of your face in this weather. You had spent what felt like 10 minutes getting ready, this was nothing, you usually took longer but had nothing to work with so you had to make do with the little things that survived in your bag on the way to Wolf cove.. and katara's clothes. You felt bad, but you didn't have an option. You did hope that in Republic City, you could get your own clothes and apologize to sokka's sister for using her clothing .
Sokka, on the other hand, was already fully dressed and ready. He waited for her in the family room. He felt a little giddy from the excitement coursing through him, excited for their little outing. Their little...date. well, that's what they agreed to call it. A date. He was a little nervous too, the palms of his hands sweaty, and he'd pace back and forth, taking long inhales and short exhales. He was taking her to the Water Tribe festival tonight and hoped she'd enjoy it before they had to leave. Republic City was a nice place, but sokka always had a soft spot for his home and hoped she would enjoy it as much as he did, which she did. She had expressed how she was enjoying wold cove, but he hoped this would further her amazing opinion on his home.
Once you felt you looked presentable enough, which you always did, you stepped out into the hall. You could hear sokka pacing back and forth in the family room, but then he came to a stop. He stopped when you were close enough to where he could see you approaching the corner. Your lips curved up into a smile because you knew he was waiting. It was funny to you how he seemed to stop whatever he was doing whenever you'd come around. You'd say it was a little dramatic, but sokka would simply say it was because he wanted to make sure you were fine. You always were fine, sokka just wanted an excuse to be there at all times.
" took you long enough." He'd scoff playfully .
You role your eyes at the little remark but said nothing because if there was something you learned about sokka these past few days, it's that no matter what you say, there is no winning with him. Oh, he will just continue to talk and talk until you've given up. You didn't have a problem with it, it was silly and it kept you extremely entertained so there were times where you'd purposely rile him up and his little remarks and comments made you laugh every time.
But not tonight. You were far too excited and felt you had wasted enough time getting ready. You didn't waste time at all. Actually, you both are early to this little planned date. "Alright, let's get going." You didn't hesitate to reach out for him, hooking your arm around his, and he gladly let you. "Someone's being a little impatient." He joked, and maybe he was right, but you didn't care much. You simply agreed .
The walk there was quicker this time. The excitement coursing through her body was enough to get her their quicker than ever before. Sokka had no problem with it and didn't even struggle to catch up. He was a fast walker, and his lady managed to be just as quick tonight. They only slowed down once they arrived at town, where they joined all the people of wolf cove in a beautiful festival. Everything was lit so brightly , everyone was so full of life, and sokka adored the joy on her face. She seemed so happy, so content with her life that it almost brought tears to her eyes. Sokka stuck close to her the whole night, telling her all about the festival, about his people , she also got to try foods she's never had before and while most of it wasn't to her liking, he could completely understand considering the food in the fire nation was very different. Nothing went to waste because sokka ate it all, and she was a little surprised by his very big appetite.
"So.. are you having fun?" Sokka suddenly asked, sitting across from you, his fork full to the point where he couldn't pick up anymore food. You were amazed at how fast he ate and how much he ate, too. You didn't comment on it. You just watched with great amusement as he finished the last bit of his food.
"I'm having so much fun." You confirm, a soft smile on your lips.
"Could we sit outside and watch the lights for a little longer before we head back home?" You suddenly ask, your voice soft, a little tired too.
"Of course we can!" Sokka quickly responds , and you laugh. He seemed so full of energy when you clearly struggled to keep your eyes open.
He finished the last few bites of his food, desposed of all the trash, and didn't let his lady lift a single finger either , then led her outside as promised. She was walking a little slower now, leaning closer, her arm still wrapped around his as they walked. He didn't speak, and neither did she.
"Your home is such a beautiful place, sokka. " You'd whisper to him as you leaned further against him, eyes looking up at the lights above you, admiring all the beautiful lanterns light up the starry night. Seeing those flames, it almost made you miss home, and it made you a little emotional. you even felt that small, warm spark in the palms of your hands but refused to give in.
"Thank you for this sokka." You whisper.
"You don't have to thank me."
"But I do." You whisper, leaning further against him .
You felt you could fall asleep against him, but forced yourself to stay awake, admiring the lights until your gaze fell on his face. He turned to meet your gaze, and you hum. "What?"
" You looked at me first. " sokka said.
"I did not." You respond with a laugh.
Then, for a brief second, you felt you had lost yourself in his blue eyes. This was such an endearing moment, something you knew you'd treasure in your heart for centuries. You felt butterflies in your stomach and felt as if your heart was about to beat out of your chest. Your breath got caught in your throat as you moved to cup his face in your hands, and he met you halfway for what would've been a kiss until it wasn't. You lingered, and he waited. Your lips had barely grazed his, but you stayed frozen in your spot. You pulled away, and he chased you, but you didn't give in.
You were still, and sokka worried. You seemed focused, as if you were trying to listen. Then he heard it, too. A couple voices next to you both, speaking in secret.
"A fire air ship, in the northern water tribe?" A voice spoke. They were hushed, but your hearing was sharp. "What are they doing so far out -" another spoke, "I don't know, but it's strange." The third whispered.
Your gaze shifted to the snow under your feet. You opened your mouth to speak, but nothing came out. You didn't know what to say, but you also couldn't let yourself be too surprised. You knew this would come, you knew your father would set out to look for you, and you felt foolish for believing he might have forgotten about you.
Sokka took your hands into his own, giving them a squeeze that snapped you out of thought. " Let's go." He spoke firmly, and you didn't protest, you nod your head and stuck to his side as he led you out of the festival. The tiredness you had felt earlier was gone, and now you were on high alert. The walk home was quick, panicked almost . You clung to him, feeling like you'd lose him if you let go. You felt bad for him. He was excited for tonight. It was meant to be a perfect date between you two, but it was ruined in seconds.
" do you think they know I'm here?" You ask suddenly, wanting to hear that reassurance sokka always gave you.
"Of course not, there's no possible way." He answered, "but I think it's best we leave tonight."
"Tonight ?" You said in a panic , "sokka!" You gasped as he pulled you past his home. "Don't you think leaving tonight is a bad idea? What If they see us ?"
He stopped in his tracks, causing you to stumble a little but nothing that could knock you off your feet. You met his gaze once more, noting how serious he was. "If I don't get you out of here as soon as possible, they'll come into wolf cove, and take you . Do you understand that? "
Of course you understood.
"Sokka, I do understand, but you need to understand that I worry for you too. I know my people, I know the fire gaurds, they're ruthless fighters and you'll be putting yourself in danger over.. some girl." You respond.
"But you aren't just some girl to me." Sokka whispered.
Again, you knew there was no winning with him, you could both continue to go back and forth but he'd always win. He always managed to win you over, everything he would say, he would always say the right things.
Sokka was aware this was rushed and impulsive, but he couldn't lose her, not right now. He wasn't going to let a single thing happen to her under his care. Even if it put him in danger. He stepped into his shop and began to pack a few important things as well as getting one of his inventions ready for travel. It was some sort of airship, but smaller, a lot smaller, big enough for three people . It had wheels and it was also a boat ! It was meant to be multifunctional , and was powered by flames. Something that'll be easy with his fire nation lady. He never expected he'd actually use this thing, not because he didn't want to but because he never had the perfect excuse to put it to action... until now, and sokka was stoked.
You stood to the side, keeping silent as you watched him gather his things until you were able to muster up the courage to speak again. "Sokka." You started, "thank you for all of this." Because you didn't know what else to say. All you could do was repeatedly thank him and hoped it was enough for him when you felt it wasn't enough for you.
Sokka never waited for a thank you, nor did he expect them. He was doing this because he was good, a good man, a man that felt this woman deserved another chance at life. Well, that's what it was at first, that's what it was until he began to fall for her. Quicker than he could process.
"You'll be safe with me, I promise." He'd whisper, and you nod with a smile on your face. A smile that made him so happy to see. "It's going to be a long trip... " sokka murmured.
You knew it'd be long, and the thought of going on another very long voyage felt like an absolute nightmare but you had to do it. There was no other option so you nod, "I'm ready to leave. " you say, though it was clear by the tone of your voice that you weren't, and you were already dreading it but there was also hope. Perhaps this time around, your trip would be easier with sokka by your side.
Midnight had struck, and it was time for their voyage . "Alright, you start the flame, then I'll push." Sokka said.
Instructions were unclear, but all you could really do was trust him. So you nod your head and slowly crawled into the flying boat that sat just on the edge of a very tall cliff. It was a little risky to you, but not to sokka, he trusted you completely , but you were a little nervous about this, and refused to look over the edge of the boat until you did, you did exactly what you didn't want to do. You couldn't help yourself. Curiosity gets the best of you. You felt you stopped breathing for a second as you saw how high up you were.
" don't look down!" Sokka quickly spoke, "You're just a little nervous, it's not that high up!" But he knew it very much was, very, very high up. He was just trying to lighten the mood, but that very sheepish smile always gave him away. His attempts to make you feel better didn't work either.
"I've never been this high up. Oh, you're putting me through torture !" You'd complain, but you weren't raised to be a coward. Being so high up put a pit in your stomach, but you knew you'd get over it. Your attention was back on the boat, and carefully, you let a small flame manifest in the palm of your hand . You had sokka on the edge with this , you could feel his eyes as he watched you light the burners of his invention. Then, very slowly, the boat began to lift off the icy grounds.
"Now!" You yell, and sokka gave the boat a good shove, one that knocked you right off your feet with a grunt.
You got back on your feet quickly but gasped seeing sokka take a leap. You panicked, then looked away until you felt him land in the boat. You lost your balance once more but sokka took hold of you before you could hit the ground. "Careful, m'lady ." Sokka cooed, but instead of complaining, you'd laugh. Both of you laughed.
"Off to Republic city." You'd whisper as hands found their way to sokka's shoulders, his hands finding their way to your waist. "Off to Republic city ! " sokka repeated.
"... on a flying boat." You'd laugh.
" on a flying boat!" Sokka exclaimed.

Sorry this took so long to put out! I've been dealing with a few things, but I will try to have chapter 5 out very soon.
He loved filling your head with beautiful praises, finding great satisfaction in seeing you smile or hearing you giggle. He loved to praise you for everything you'd do, whether it was small or big. He was always the first one to notice and shower you in praises that kept you satisfied for hours.
One day, not a single praise left his lips. You worried, but upon entering his office, you realized he was far too busy and stressed to think of any praise that would satisfy you. So, you decided you'd be the one to take on the role of providing constant praise and hope it helps lighten his mood.
"You're doing so well, zuko. I'm so proud of you." Something quick, Something small, enough to catch his attention. He didn't say anything at first, but you continue. "You're the best Fire Lord to ever rule over the fire nation." And from that day on, zuko couldn't live without it. "You're so strong." You'd whisper, "You're such an amazing fire bender." You'd coo, "Oh, you're brilliant! Such a smart leader, " and the praise would go on and on, making his days a little easier.
Helloooo can I please request an aang x reader where it’s just Aang being so content with his current family the gaang and thinking to himself that he can’t loose you guys

The Only Breath I Take
( Aang x fem! reader )
— one shot ( fluff )
Summery: the thought of being the last air bender sits heavy on Aang's mind, but the thought of losing you and his friends is heavier. He makes up his mind, deciding he is content with being the last air bender, as long as you're next to him.
Mentions: physical touch, kissing, mentions of pregnancy, fear of loss of loved ones
Being the last air bender was no easy task for Aang. It sat heavy on his mind, the guilt, the constant feeling of having let his people down. It made his days difficult sometimes, making him get in bed late after being lost in thought or being woken up early by the worry that sat heavy on his shoulders, but as time continued to pass, other thoughts began to linger. The thought of knowing he'd have to make up his mind one day and let go of his past in order to live a happy life with those he loved most.
"Someone's up early," you whispered, your voice soft, and your eyes barely open, but you could still make out his large silhouette as he laid on his back, staring up at the ceiling. Something he did often in the mornings while he waited for you to wake.
"I was just waiting for you to wake up." He spoke, His voice smooth like honey, giving you a warm sensation words couldn't begin to describe.
Your lips curved into a smile, and as you moved closer, you stretched your arms up above you, your back arching also as a soft moan left your lips, making Aang chuckle.
" Nice stretch, love, You're probably feeling stiff from yesterday's training ."
"I am.." You'd whine, but despite your body feeling sore, and how you ached as you moved, you still had it in you to move closer, resting yourself against your boyfriend. He gladly took you into his arms, and feeling his large arms wrap around you was enough to make you forget about your soreness. You melt against his warm body, letting out a content sigh. His finger tips ran over your skin, barely touching you but enough to make you giggle.
Silence took over, nothing but soft breathing to fill the room and the faint sound of birds chirping outside. That and the faint sound of voices bickering outside in the garden. Katara and Sokka, toph would occasionally join in too, and It made Aang chuckle.
"What's all the arguing about first thing in the morning?" You'd giggle.
"Siblings banter." Aang responds.
Again, silence, and you began to trace shapes into his skin, running your finger over every muscle on his abdomen, something you did often. He was so carefully sculpted , and you could say his body was perfect. Everything about him was perfect.
"Aang." You started, "something is bothering you. You're never this quiet in the mornings."
Aang was hesitant to respond. He feared she'd question his strange behavior lately. She always did. She was such a smart woman, always catching onto his thoughts and emotions before he even got the chance to properly make up his mind.
"Is it about being the last airbender?" You ask in a whisper, now lifting yourself up from Aang's side so you could properly look at him, maybe even attempt to read his face, try to figure out what he was thinking.
Aang didn't respond immediately. He needed a moment to process his own thoughts and find the right words. He always looked away when she'd ask him this question, but today was different. He was looking at her, and it made it difficult for her to figure out what he was thinking about. She didn't push him, didn't ask again, she gave him a moment, knowing his thoughts must be a mess. And they were, they were a mess, but there was one thing he had clear, one thing he was absolutely sure about. He couldn't lose her, or his friends, but mostly her. She was his everything, the one that made his days easier, the only one who could make him realize that he can live without his people, as long as he had her by his side.
Your face shifted to worry, and Aang's large hand reached up to cup your face. You melted into his touch, your eyes falling shut for a second. "Aang.."
"It's not about that." He finally responds.
"Then what it is, Aang? I don't like seeing you this way. I worry for you, we all worry for you."
"It's not that, love. Don't worry your pretty little head." Aang forced a laugh, hoping it would lighten the mood, but seeing your lips press into a frown, he cut the act and sat up, your eyes following him as he did.
"I can manage being the last airbender, I can manage living without my people.." he whispers, now both hands moving to cup your face, thumbs stroking the plush of your cheeks. "But I can't live without you , that's what keeps me up. I don't want to lose you, if I do, I don't know what I'll do. I couldn't go on without having you by my side. What would I ever do without my girl?" He'd coo.
You felt your face heat up at his words, a smile crept onto your lips, and a soft giggle erupted from your throat. "Is that what all this is about ?"
Aang nodded, his own lips curving up into a soft smile. "I love you all so much, but I love you most, and I worry I'll lose you all like I did my people. " His hands dropped from your face, but you quickly took them into your own. His gaze also dropped, watching as your hands held his. Yours were small, his much bigger, but they seemed to fit so nicely together.
"Aang, you don't need to worry yourself so much. We'll be fine, all of us. " You give his hands a gentle squeeze, leaning in to press a kiss against his lips. "We'll always be with you, through thick and thin."
Aang seemed to chase your lips as you pulled away to speak, and from the look on his face, you can gladly say he seemed content with your words. "I love you, Aang. We all do." You'd giggle, moving to wrap your arms around his neck and got yourself comfortable in his lap. Something you did often.
Aang wrapped his arms around her, fingers pressing into the small of her back, and his face buried in the crook of her neck as he took in her scent. The scent of her skin, her hair. Lips brushed over the skin of her neck, then down to her shoulder. "I love you more than anything." He whispered against her, then moved to capture her lips for a quick kiss she gladly accepted.
You sighed, shivering at his gentle touch as your fingertips gently massaged the back of his neck and head. Something that seemed to help him relax. You both sat in this quiet, intimate silence, enjoying the morning for a little longer before you'd need to get up from bed.
"You know.. Maybe you won't be the last airbender." You blurted.
"What?" Aang asked, confused by your sudden words.
You pull away with a sheepish smile, hesitate but laugh . "Well... what if we get lucky and.. perhaps have a little airbender one day?"
Aang's face seemed to lighten up like a million stars, the thought was enough to almost bring tears to his eyes. "You think that'd be possible?" He exclaimed, and with no time to react, he pulled you into a hug that felt a little too tight, causing you to groan. "Aang!" You complain, but he laughed, and you couldn't help but laugh with him.
"A little airbender." He whispers, "yes, our little airbender." You whisper back, taking a moment longer to enjoy the hug before you gave his chest a gentle push. He let go, but not completely, just enough for you to bring him in for a kiss.
"I love you so much." You'd whisper, lips brushing over his.
Sokka always seemed to have plenty of pent up stress. You had offered to help many times, giving him blowjobs under his work desk or quick handjobs in the storage room, but one day, he caught you leaning over his work station, writing out a few notes for one of your own inventions. It was meant to be innocent, but you had gotten the wrong idea and pressed against him the second you felt him over yourself, assuming he just needed to blow off some steam.
From that point on, he'd have you bent over every corner of his shop, grinding his hardened dick over your clothed cunt. To you, it felt like torture, like he was teasing you endless times throughout the day, feeling so close yet so far. You'd assume it was enough for him to relieve some of that stress, but it only heightened it, because the thought of being buried in your sopping cunt sat heavy on his mind while he worked.
After work, he'd run home to you, not caring if dinner was done, or if you were in the bathtub, or already in bed. Wherever he'd find you, he'd have your dripping cunt on his dick, helping you relieve some of your own pent up stress.
Frozen Waters, Burning Hearts ( Sokka x fire bender! Reader )
— chapter 3
Summery : you're a powerful fire bender, a woman who was supposed to lead armies into war but you have a wish. A wish of being free. For the past few days, you've been at sokka's side, completely unaware of your father's plan to search for you. Sokka starts to worry , the thought of losing you begins to creep up on him, causing you both to make a very necessary decision.
Mentions: distress, mentions of past abuse, jealousy, physical touch/wandering hands
— 2 days prior
For the past few days, the sky had been full of thick, dark clouds, roaring thunder in the distance that was enough to make one jump . The streets were full of thick fog, thick enough to prevent one from seeing within 5 feet of where they'd stand. The ground was moist, and the wind was harsh, making it almost impossible for fire benders and non benders to live their normal lives without an intense gust of wind blowing out any flame or heavy droplets of water putting them out. The people of the fire nation almost began to feel panic as these intense storms continued to fall, they worried, but they worried even more for the woman down the street that had been weeping from early in the morning, in search for her daughter. She had turned her home upside down, walking up and down the street, asking every person who dared cross her path. She called out for her, but there was no response. One could possibly ignore the loud weeping and begging, perhaps continue walking or pretend you hadn't seen a thing, but that was impossible, because that weeping woman was the wife of one of the most powerful men in the fire nation.
A man stood by her side, his face was stern, gaze sharp enough to cut glass. His name was Zenji Hachiman, and he was the general of the fire army, and his daughter was the future general of the Fire Army .
His wife, Hanako Hachiman, was the lead nurse of the fire army. She was more sympathetic , gentle, and loving. One may even say she was the epitome of a perfect mother and wife. A perfect partner. Of course, not everything was as it seemed. Her husband was the one in charge of the house. Whatever he'd say was what would go . Which meant she was never able to defend her daughter from her husband's harsh punishments. She wanted to blame herself for her missing daughter, but she felt resentment towards her husband and knew all this was his fault . He was too harsh with her, and from a young age, she had threatened to leave them and forget about them . Hanako worried, but she never thought her daughter would ever go through with her plan. Han thought she had changed her mind when she stopped mentioning it, but now as she cried on the street, she realized that the only reason why her daughter hadn't mentioned running away in years was because she was planning it out the whole time. She blamed her husband in silence, refusing to look him in the face as he spoke.
" Han , I think it's best we go home, and talk in private. " the man said in a voice low enough to prevent others from hearing. His wife agreed , knowing that there was no use in crying out for her when she wouldn't answer. She willingly took her husband's hand, and let him lead her back home as she cried softly, as if she was mourning her own daughter. Her only child.
Back home, Hanako felt she had cried every tear in her body. She stared at small specks of dust on her floor , occasionally following her husband's feet as he paced back and forth in front of her. The house felt oddly quiet, cold, empty without her daughter.
The room was silent, nothing but the sound of footsteps until he came to a stop in front of his wife. She looked up at him, her eyes teary as he spoke, " we will find our daughter," the man assures.
" how will we ever do that, dear ?" She croaks.
He didn't speak for a moment, but took a long inhale , then exhaled. " I will speak with Fire Lord Zuko, and with my authority, I will launch a search for our daughter. "
" oh Zenji, do you really think he'd waste his resources on her ? She's just a girl." Hanako sobbed , but her husband quickly reassured her. " she's not just a girl, she's my daughter, a woman trained to take my place ! Zuko is a smart Emperor, he will know having her will benefit him."
——
For once, you felt warmth throughout the whole night without waking up with your body shivering and your face stinging from the cold. You slept well, too well. Your body remained pressed against sokka, picking up and absorbing all the warmth that came off of him. You didn't even notice the closeness in your sleep, not until you began to stir at the sound of his soft, sleepy voice .
"Hey, wake up, sleepy head. " he whispered, enough for you to hear, but not enough for you to wake up. Your eyes stayed closed, and he didn't dare push you away. He enjoyed the closeness as much as you did.
" Today's a very special day. You wouldn't want to miss it. " he spoke again, a little louder now, but you still didn't respond, hoping that if you ignored him long enough, he'd shut up, and you both could sleep a little longer.
" I guess that means I'll have to leave without you."
" No.." You managed to get out, your voice was weak, your eyes threatened to close as you forced them open, and you still hadn't realized just how close you were to him. Sokka did. He's wide awake and enjoying every second of it.
" Come on, I've got an exciting day planned for us."
You groaned, but you knew staying in bed wouldn't work, not with sokka pestering you to get out of bed. Finally, you forced yourself to sit up, your hair was a mess , and your body would rock softly to the sides as you struggled to keep yourself up.
Sokka watched in amusement, the biggest smile on his face as he took her in. She was a mess, but in his eyes, she was just so beautiful waking up. Her hair everywhere, sleep lines on her face from pressing herself against the pillow or sokka in an attempt to keep her face warm. Her clothes were a little messy too, the first few buttons of her shirt had come undone, but not enough to expose her, one of her sleeves had rolled up to her elbow, the collar of her shirt was folded inward and the cherry on top were her missing socks that she had thrown off to the side sometime around midnight. She didn't remember doing this, but sokka did, and he laughed about it for five minutes straight while she continued to sleep in his arms.
" What time is it ?" You asked, your voice soft, refusing to look at him in protest for being woken up.
" Seven in the morning!" His voice was so full of excitement, and it was a surprise how he seemed so ready for the day while you were still exhausted.
" Why so early?" You'd whine.
"Early bird gets the worm!" Sokka seemed to be so full of energy first thing in the morning, and that used to be you, but since your trip, and falling sick, you've felt far too tired and lacked energy throughout the day. You knew you'd recover soon, but for now, waking up early was a pain and felt extremely forced. The good news was that you had enough energy to get up and continue with your day. Also, sokka was a huge motivator. It was a lot easier to go on with your day when the person by your side seemed so excited about it. It gave you a reason to be just as excited.
" You get yourself all pretty, and I'll worry about the rest ." Sokka pushed himself onto his feet, fixing his own clothes that had been messed up and wrinkled from their very good sleep together.
" The rest ? What are you planning on doing so early in the morning? " you asked, very slowly moving over to your clothes you had neatly folded the night prior. Then, picked up the blue fabrics and brought them over to your bed, dragging your feet in the process.
" Don't ask questions ." He'd chirp, " just get ready ." And with that, he left and shut the door behind himself, hearing an exciting laugh leave his lips on the other side. You groan and turn to your bed where you had laid your clothes. You could feel the coldness come over you again and knew this needed to be quick before you began to shiver.
Stripping from your pajamas was quick, tugging at the fabrics and tossing them on your bed, desperately attempting to hold on to the little warmth you felt from your sleep. You were beginning to shiver already, whining quietly to yourself as you pulled on the clothes sokka had given you . This was probably the quickest you've ever gotten yourself changed , and you surprised yourself with how quick you were. Back in the fire nation, you'd take your time, making sure to enjoy the process of getting changed into expensive fabrics that sat on you so nicely, enjoying the warm room and shoes that sat a little uncomfortable on your feet but at least there you would be able to feel your toes. Unfortunately, that wouldn't be possible here, but you were thankful for sokka's attempt to provide you with as many articles of clothing as possible to keep you warm.
Quietly, you stepped out of the room and shut the door behind yourself. You were slow, silent, trying not to make any sound as you moved down the hall, then slipped into the bathroom to fix your hair and do other very important stuff. You were so used to waking up and taking your time combing out your hair in front of a very large mirror your mother insisted you needed. You would also take your time in applying a light layer of blush to your cheeks and adding lipstick. You wouldn't need the blush while you stayed in wolf cove, your cheeks remained pink from the cold, and so did your lips, You also lost your makeup bag on the way there, so it's not like you had anything you could use to make yourself more presentable.
Despite your attempts to be silent, sokka could hear your small footsteps . He could also hear your whining and complaining while you got dressed in the other room, so it was safe to say that the walls were fairly thin. He also heard you go into another room, which he could only assume was the bathroom.
" Where are you going so fast?" A voice called from down the hall, as soon as the bathroom door came open. You paused, looking over your shoulder only to be met with sokka's gaze. He had changed, looking more put together than ever. You assumed he had something special planned if he was going out of his way to put himself in clothes that weren't stained in oil or spilled paint. Which meant you also took a moment to check him out, and also take note of how he brushed his hair extra well. You were so used to seeing those few loose strands of hair that would hang over the front of his forehead and watch as he tucked them and brushed them out of his face multiple times throughout the day, but it was safe to say he looked just as good all cleaned up.
" Oh, I'm not going anywhere. " And you weren't. You were simply used to being as quiet as humanity possible . Something they taught you in training.
" You're dressed nice. Is there a reason?" You came closer but kept appropriate space between you two.
" there sure is ! I was doing some thinking.." sokka started, and you couldn't say you were nervous, sokka seemed like a pretty smart guy , so he must know what he's doing, right ? "And decided that I should show you around wolf cove and get you used to your new home ."
" you.. what ?" Your face dropped, concern washing over you once more and you began to regret it, began to regret thinking that sokka knew what he was doing, because it seemed he didn't. Maybe he wasn't as smart as you thought.
" should I repeat myself?" Sokka asked, seeing absolutely no wrong with his idea.
" No.. I just, is that really a good idea ?" You were worried. You didn't know how you felt about going out in public so soon, not when you were sure your father would initiate some sort of search any time now, but there was still a slither of hope that lingered in your thoughts. Only those of the fire nation knew you. You were unknown to the outside world. You were always just 'the general's daughter' to other kingdoms and tribes, but they never got a chance to lay their eyes on you. Only the fire nation recognized your face , but the fear still lingered. What if someone of the water tribe let's the fire gaurds know that there is a new face here , one that clearly didn't belong in the water tribe. You swallowed hard, and your stomach would twist , making you ache from the nervousness. You knew you couldn't hide forever, but you couldn't stop the feeling.
Sokka took a moment. He could sense your worry and was about to comfort you with words, but you speak before he can," You know what, yeah, that sounds fun. I'm really excited to see where you grew up, sokka." But your concern , for once, was clear, very clear. You always acted so tough, so stern , but without even noticing it, you were letting your guard down with sokka. Little by little, he somehow managed to chip away at the woman your father so desperately tried to mold you into. You refused it for years, and while you forced his strict ways on yourself, you couldn't completely hold on to it. You never could. That's why your father would get mad at you. You didn't want to be heartless like him.
"I won't let anyone take you if that's what you're worried about" He reassured, "I know this is a big step, and the people might look at you funny, but I won't let a single thing happen to you, and if they come for you, they'll have to get through me! I promise." His voice was loud, but soft as he spoke, something that you weren't used to. He spoke with ease, making you feel more comfortable in his presence and filling your mind with thoughts of him protecting you from fire gaurds. This caused you to laugh, a laugh so loud you were sure neighbors would hear you, " Thank you , sokka. I'm happy to know you're ready to be my hero ."
His eyesbrows lifted at the laugh, a smile so big on his face that he could feel his cheeks ache. "Any time, m'lady! You know, I didn't fight alongside the avatar for years just to not be a hero!"
" I didn't expect you to be so ready for action, sokka, and, the avatar ?" You'd question, of course you knew who the avatar was , but you never heard much of the others unless it was Zuko telling you a brief story of his time with the avatar and his friends.
"Oh, I'm always ready for action ! And the Avatar, I saved him from an iceberg and fought off enemies with my boomerage and trusty sword, I even took down an entire Fire Air ship!" He exclaimed.
Your expression dropped to surprise, almost suspicion. Sokka seemed to be too much of an ordinary guy to fight alongside the Avatar, and the mention of the fire air ships seemed to worry you a little. Surely he wouldn't cause that big of a scene if they come looking for you.
Sokka squinted his eyes at you, as if he was trying to see past you, "You don't believe me, do you?"
" no, its not that !" You reassured , "I just.. I don't hear much about you when the Avatar is mentioned, that's all."
" What ! But I was popular !" He cried .
You knew it'd shatter his little heart to hear such a thing, but you couldn't lie to him. You told yourself you'd be completely honest with him. He was doing you a huge favor, and you couldn't offer much, so being honest was the least you could do. You expected some hurt reaction, but what you didn't expect was sokka falling to his knees, hiding his face in his gloves with the most dramatic gasp he could muster up.
" Oh, why am i always left out ! I'm just as strong as them...I took down an air ship !"
You rolled your eyes at his dramatic act, but you still giggled. He's a strange one, that's for sure. "You're so dramatic, sokka." You reach out your hand to stroke the side of his face and down to his chin as a way to comfort him during his dramatic act, and while he was fooling around, you could tell he was a little hurt at the thought of being left out. And he was, sokka always felt bad whenever he was left out. Being a non bender wasn't the greatest, and while he lacked bending skills, he possessed other amazing qualities that made him just as useful as the others.
Sokka leaned into your touch, and this was enough for him to cut his silly little act and for once, falter at your touch. His brain short circuits and suddenly, he was at a loss of words, like he wanted to speak, but was caught off gaurd by the gentle gesture.
" well, if it makes you feel any better , you're now a hero in my book, and I won't leave you out. " you promised, hoping that was enough to make him feel better.
That reassurance made his heart flutter, and you could both see and feel how his face began to heat up. Feeling the heat against your cold hand made you press further against him, but your touch still being gentle .
" I should get you some gloves. " He'd whisper, "please." You'd respond.
Sokka was quick on his feet ,rushing down the hall to fetch you some gloves, leaving you on your own in the family room of his cozy home. You waited for him, fidgeting with the hand that once caressed his face . You didn't know what it was, but you felt something strange towards sokka. A man , so gentle with you, so caring. He made your heart flutter, and it felt almost overwhelming for you. It was a new feeling. You didn't know how to handle it, or if you even possessed the ability to.
You were thankful sokka didn't take long because you didn't want to be alone with your thoughts for too long. He's holding a pair of old but thick gloves in his hand. " These were mine from years ago, but.. they're good enough." His gloves, from when he was a kid. They were small but somehow fit you perfectly. How sweet. " they fit perfectly !" He said in surprise, and the surprise over a pair of old gloves fitting you was amusing. " they do, thank you."
" Come on, we'll have breakfast in town, then I'll show you around. "
Sokka led the way, his new friend trailing behind him as he talked. She did eventually catch up and was able to keep up with his fast steps. They walked close, leaving no space between them, rubbing shoulders, and occasionally, she'd trip and bump into sokka, who was always there to catch her. Sokka had a lot to say, but it was also her fault for asking. She wanted to hear more of his adventures with the Avatar and wanted to hear his part of the story and the things he did. He might have over exaggerated things a little, but the look of amusement on her face was too pretty for him to stop now. He did all sorts or gestures and crazy sounds and would occasionally jump and move around to demonstrate moves she's never seen before. She was definitely entertained with him, that was for sure, but as they entered town, he began to settle down , just a little.
" And.. that's just the first half!"
" There's more ?" You'd ask in awe.
" There sure is ! But I'll tell you later !" Sokka was so proud of his storytelling, and you were making the grave mistake of showing large amounts of interest. Oh, he'll never shut up, but also, you didn't mind him running his mouth. You loved how he was so talkative and unable to let silence take over.
Your gaze then shifted to take In everything around you. It was all so bright, the white snow and sheer ice. Long icicles hanging from buildings and tall mountains covered in thick snow. The sky was white, cloudy, but still so bright. The people around you all wore coats, blue and white fabrics , furs, and big hats that covered almost all their faces. You loved the brightness of the town, of the people. They smiled, greeted each other, and some even greeted you. People in the fire nation were usually a little too serious, and no random person would dare give you a good morning when you were standing in the middle of the street like you and sokka currently were .
" So what do you think?" He'd ask after giving you a moment to take everything in.
Your attention snapped back to sokka, looking towards him, but he was already at eye level with you, waiting for a response. The closeness made your face heat up, but you smiled. " It's beautiful. " You'd respond, and sokka's smile grew.
"Perfect, let's go get you something warm to eat first. " and he only says 'first' because he wasn't sure what he had planned for the day, but he wanted her to think he had everything planned out to perfection. All he knew was that he wanted to take her somewhere, show her his home and would it be too much to say he was probably showing her off ? She was worth showing off, a beauty. people would double take, greet her or mumble things under their breathes as they walked past, and he simply thought to himself that everyone agreed she was the most beautiful girl to ever step foot in wolf cove. And she was.
Unlike sokka, the looks and whispered bothered you. You felt uncomfortable, assuming people were talking about how you weren't from the water tribe. You tried to push away any unwanted thoughts , but it was far too difficult. You were only able to pull away from those thoughts when you'd focus on the man by your side, so, hoping he wouldn't mind, you reached out and wrapped your arm around his arm, again, closing the little space between you both.
Sokka looked over for a brief second, it was no longer a surprise to him, but something he was slowly getting used to. He enjoyed the closeness, and when he felt her lean in closer and rest her head against his arm, he couldn't help the way he melted into her touch. People would stare, they'd look, but it wasn't because of a new face, but more so admiring the two as they embraced each other. Sokka walked slow, not wanting to rush his lady who was walking a little slower, not by choice. She was still sick and slowly recovering from her long trip. He couldn't begin to imagine the pain she had gone through, the struggle, the hunger. Getting to Wolf Cove from the Fire Nation was no easy task, but she made it on her own in one piece, and that was pretty damn cool in his eyes.
He led you towards a cafe that sat on the main street of Wolf Cove. It was so tiny that it was almost swallowed up by everything else around it. It was simple too, a soft blue color, the windows and door had a wooden trim and a small windchime that hung just above the door and rang whenever a small gust of wind hit it. "My sister and I come here often. It's our favorite tea spot." Sokka spoke again, and you turned your head to him, not expecting him to have moved so close to where the tip of his nose almost brushed over yours. He seemed to be doing this more often now, you wanted to ask why, but perhaps you were over thinking it, and he was just trying to make sure you heard him through the thick fabric and fur that sat on your head, covering your ears.
"It looks lovely." You'd respond, and let sokka lead you in . You were thankful for the Cafe being a lot warmer , very warm, dare one say.. warm enough to take the coats off. You struggled a little with such a big coat, but sokka was quick to help and draped it over the back of your chair, which he also pulled out for you. Oh what a gentleman. " you don't have to be all this, I'm not royalty." You'd mumble, a laugh following your words.
" I mean.. technically you are." Sokka whispered back, and you took a moment to pause. He was right. You were royalty, but you continued to see yourself as any other person. you didn't like being treated differently because of your status , and being here, you could put that behind you. " treat me like I'm one of you , not royalty. " You'd whisper to sokka, and he nodded his head. "As you wish m'lady."
"Quit it."
Sokka sat right across from you, your eyes scanned the menu while his seemed to scan you. You could feel his eyes on you, and your lips threatened to curve up into a smile, but you forced yourself to keep that focused look and act completely oblivious to his staring. Once you felt you had him waiting long enough and mustered up the courage to look at him, you asked, " What do you recommend?"
Sokka was unaware of his staring, he knew he was looking, but not for as long as he did. He was caught up in his thoughts, admiring the woman across from him. Perhaps it was because she was a new face, or it could've been that today felt different. The air filled with a sudden, silent intimacy, and she no longer felt like a stranger to him, but something more. It could've been from last night, He could remember laying awake the night prior , feeling her warm breath against him, and how her body lightly shivered against him until she was warm enough to stop. How she'd move closer each time, searching for the warmth he provided for her throughout the night. He could've gone on forever, losing himself in thoughts of her, but hearing your voice again, he snapped out of his daze.
" Everything okay, sokka?"
" Huh.. yeah ! Yeah, I'm fine." He laughed
" What tea do you recommend ?" You'd ask again. You knew what you wanted, you weren't picky when it came to your tea and you were also interested in what he liked.
"Oh, jasmine tea !"
" Then I'll get jasmine tea."
" Do you want something to eat ?"
"I'm not really hungry."
" we could share a sandwich?"
Share a sandwich? Your face lit up in amusement, and suddenly, a lovely laugh erupted from your throat, cutting through the thick, tense air between both of you. "That's so cute, goodness, share a sandwich?" You repeated to him, wondering if you had even heard him right the first time.
" I'm trying to be nice!" Sokka whined, his voice seemed to become higher, and you could only giggle more, feeling your heart flutter as he joined your fit of uncontrollable giggles.
Soon enough, your laughter died down, and together, you both gasped for air ," Fine , we can share a sandwich. I just didn't think you'd be so...romantic on the first date." You'd tease, leaning forwards over the table as if you were making an attempt to close the space between you both .
" date ? Oh I..."
" I'm just joking !" You quickly correct.
" ... wouldn't mind this being our first date."
You wanted to protest, but you didn't. Not when it was sokka sitting across from you, "sokka , this doesn't have to be a date.." But you were cut off by another voice, one that greeted you with respect, welcoming you to the cafe. A server .
You didn't speak, not that you didn't want to, but because you worried you might sound too fire nation-y. It was a stupid thought, but you couldn't let your gaurd down. You knew you'd have to get over yourself eventually, but you were thankful sokka spoke for you. Oh he really was making all this a lot easier for you.
" we'll have a jasmine tea! Oh, and a sandwich for the lady and I, please ."
The lady and I ? You swallowed hard, forcing those giggles that threatened to come out back down your throat. You couldn't even bring yourself to look at sokka anymore, because you knew the second your gaze met his, you'd let a loud laugh rip from your throat and you couldn't have that right now. What he said wasn't funny, it was the simple thought of him considering this a date now, and the way he worded things that would make you laugh.
Sokka on the other hand, loved the sound of her laugh. There was undeniable chemistry between the two, how sokka's eyes would linger, and how the woman across from him would initiate their flirtatious banter. The air around them was thick, think enough to cut. Maybe one could say, Electric, enough for those around them to feel .Sokka wanted to get those laughs out of her, watch how her face would scrunch up in absolute joy .
The server who stood at the end of their shared table, could feel the tension they both shared. It was almost suffocating. The lady across from sokka had caught his attention the moment she stepped foot into the Cafe, she was a new face, and far too pretty to be sitting across some man who thought he was so grand only because he fought next to the Avatar. "I'm Anik, welcome to wolf cove." He spoke, interrupting their silent conversation .
You didn't expect the man to introduce himself. Last time you had gone to a cafe, the server simply took your order and then brought it to you, avoiding any sort of conversation. One may also say, avoiding you completely. Servers wouldn't dare look you in the face. It could've been because of your status , but you much preferred it that way.
"Oh , it's a pleasure meeting you.. my name is.." You froze, realizing you couldn't use your real name. It'd give you away.
"Kaya, her name is Kaya." Sokka states in a bitter tone.
Anik looked over at sokka, a nasty grin on his face, " Let the lady speak for herself. I'm just curious , I've never seen her around here."
"She's from the northern water tribe." Sokka snaps.
" Could you please just get us our food, I'm hungry." You interrupted, hoping that would be enough for the server to leave you both alone. And it was. You were taken aback from how unprofessional the man was, but at least he got the message and left the first time.
Sokka's arms were crossed over his chest, his back pressed against his chair, and his eyes followed Anik , nothing friendly in his gaze. His sudden outburst was uncalled for, but something about this guy wanting his lady's attention really bothered him. He just needed to protect her, and perhaps he was a little jealous but would sit in denial instead of accepting it.
Your gaze was on sokka again, but you didn't speak. You weren't sure what to say , but when his gaze fell on you again, he smiled. His face softened, and his shoulders relaxed as his eyes met yours. You did the same, relaxing in your seat as you locked your gaze with sokka once again.
" Is everything okay ?" You'd ask. He nods his head," I'm fine."
You both let the soft silence take over once more, but you didn't want this. You wanted to hear him talk, seeing how his eyes would light up, and you knew exactly how to do that. How to get both him and yourself at the edge of the seats.
"Hey, so, how about you finish telling me about your adventures with the Avatar?"
Seeing the way his face lit up made your heart flutter, the excitement in his voice gave you butterflies . His life was so full of adventures, you could tell he treasured his friends and sister more than anything, and deep down , you hoped you'd be part of his adventures in the future. It was a lot to ask for of a man you just met, but the way your heart would flutter for him, the warmth inside you that he provided you with. You've never experienced anything like this, the way he made you laugh so easily, how you couldn't look him in the face without smiling. How you'd watch him in awe as he spoke, all those hand gestures , the silly sound effects, and how he'd use things around him to describe something or draw out a picture for you to understand better. The food was brought to you both, and even while you both ate , he continued to keep you entertained. Breakfast was meant to be quick, but you both had spent almost two hours at the cafe, doing more talking than eating.
Anik, the server had eventually dismissed you both from the cafe, probably out of spite , maybe a little jealousy, but neither of you let it ruin the mood.
For the rest of the day, sokka had kept her busy, walking her through the early morning market where they sold a variety of fish and sea creatures she had never seen before. She refused to get too close to them, and sokka would occasionally pick up a fish or two and startle her with them. She wasn't too happy and refused to stand by sokka's side, knowing he would continue to mess with her. Sokka would reassure her each time that he'd stop, but he didn't. He didn't stop, not until they were out of the market. He walked her around wolf cove, showing her where everything was, both necessary places and not so necessary like a store that sold fishing supply. She was sure she wouldn't go fishing, but sokka insisted she'd try at least once.
It wasn't until seven in the afternoon, sometime around dinner, when the snow began tapping against the windows of the tiny restaurant , followed by the harsh whistling sound of wind. Sokka knew what was coming, a storm, a very bad one too . He needed to get her home before the snow hit. He knew it wouldn't be good for her. They hadn't finished their dinner but agreed together that it would be better if they left that very moment, so she quickly began to slip back on the multiple layers of furs and thick fabrics that she hoped wouldn't be easily penetrated by the cold.
You clung to his arm as the wind began to pick up, shivering lightly against him as he held you close to his body , which wasn't shivering. "How do you live in this place." You groaned , already feeling a string of complains ready to erupt from your throat. "You get used to it." He'd laugh, pulling you closer as he felt your shivering body. Maybe Wolf Cove wasn't a good idea. The earth kingdom was surely warmer.
"But don't worry, we're almost home, okay? Are you ready to keep going ?"
You weren't. Your feet ached, they were cold, and your toes felt numb. Your face also ached from the biting cold, but sokka was doing his best to get you home as quickly as possible. He'd pull you close, letting you bury yourself against him, letting him provide you with a little more warmth . You felt miserable, unable to keep up but he didn't leave your side, instead, he took your arm in his, leading you through the snow quicker, and before you knew it, you were at the door of his home .
He had his keys ready in his hand. He didn't want to spend any more time in the cold, not when she was visibly trembling in his hold.
To your surprise, sokka was quick to leave your side once you stepped foot inside. Not because of anything bad, oh he had gone to fetch a couple of those fur blankets. Your face lit up, and you wasted no time getting comfortable in what was now your usual spot, and let sokka drap those heavy blankets over your body.
" You're an angel ,sokka. " You'd whisper , huddling yourself in the blankets which you could say was one of your favorite things in wolf cove.
Silence. He didn't speak . Neither did you.
" I think we need to talk. " His tone was serious, it was sudden, and you became easily worried.
Sokka had thought about it all day, ever since the interaction with Anik. You were both playing a dangerous game, running a great risk that he wasn't willing to take. He needed to initiate his plan before things got out of hand and get her out of here before fire gaurds enter wolf cove. They had wasted too much time, he knew the fire nation was quick, they didn't like to waste their time and he could only imagine things would be quicker when they're looking for the general's daughter. Oh,He couldn't lose her, not now, he wouldn't know what to do with himself.
" sokka.." you started.
" I need you to come to Republic City with me before fire gaurds get here. I'll send a letter off to my sister, tell her I'll be there soon. We'll wait for a response, she'll surely mention any odd activity in the area, including fire nation gaurds or air ships. "
" how are you sure she'll tell you?" You'd ask, now you straightened up in your spot, this conversation was serious, sokka, was being very serious.
" she always does." He'd say, "she responds quick, in the meantime, we'll get ready for our trip, I have a couple things that'll make it easier for us to get there." Sokka sat by your side, something that brought great comfort to you, especially now when the idea of going on another voyage sat heavy on your shoulders.
You didn't hesitate. "Alright, I'll go to Republic city with you." Because you knew you had to. You were enjoying your time with sokka, and you'd do whatever to stay by his side, but this wasn't just about him, it was also for your safety.
Sokka was glad to hear her accept , and for the rest of the night, he spent his time talking to her, telling her about Republic city, how their journey there will be , and many other things. Anything that would sooth her worry just a little. Thankfully, it worked, and sokka managed to talk her to sleep. He tucked her in, then slipped away to write his letter to katara .
───❅✵ ·❆· ✵❅───
Sorry I took so long to put this out ! Chapter 4 will be out very soon !
You've been living with Aang for some time, and you could confidently say it's been the best decision you've ever made.
He insists on cuddling every night, and you needed to be his little spoon. It was a must. You'd complain, but always gave in to the comfort of his large, muscular body against your own, holding you, providing warmth and comfort that words couldn't begin to describe.
You loved nights with him, but loved mornings even more. Your favorite mornings were when he'd wake you up with that sudden fullness you loved so much. Mornings were also his favorite, feeling how you'd squeeze him so well, and how your body felt so warm and soft against his own. Your cunt was always wetter , more sensitive, and he always managed to pull out some of the sweetest moans and whimpers that seemed to drive him crazy every time.
Nothing would get him more ready for the day than feeling your sopping cunt first thing in the morning.
Between Friends And Feelings ( sokka x fem!reader )
— one shot ( slight angst )
Summery : You and sokka are good friends, and one day, he decides to introduce you to his childhood best friend, the avatar. What he thinks will be nothing but an innocent meeting, will cause him to spiral and cause conflict between you two, putting the friendship at risk.
Includes : slight argument, kissing, nudity, indications of intercourse
You had known sokka for months now. You met him a while ago, in one of the funniest ways. Or at least that's how you remember it, you couldn't recall a single laugh leaving sokka's lips when he found you stranded at sea, but you've always preferred to lighten the mood whenever it was mentioned.
You decided to move to Republic City a few months ago, a decision you had made on pure impulse. An act of rebellion as your mother would say. You were a non bender from the Earth Kingdom, a non bender, selling bread in a cozy bakery on the main street of the kingdom. Everyone knew you , everyone loved you and your father's bread, which he refused to tell his recipe to. Only you and your mother knew that secret recipe. You loved your parents, loved the bread shop, but you had a desire for something new , something different. You told your parents you wanted to go to Republic City for a new life. At first, your parents didn't approve, and it took some convincing before they decided they'd support you all the way as long as you came by to visit. They wanted the best for you and wanted you to chase your little dream even if it took their little girl away .
Your trip there was miserable. You weren't from a rich family. You had no way of getting there, but you used your creativity and craftsmanship to the best of your ability. Which also meant your boat had failed you, and you were on the brink of being crushed by your own invention when a man came to save you. That man was Sokka, a pretty nice fella.
You both hit it off immediately and had been attached at the hip since. He's shown you all of Republic City, has shown you ways to sharpen your craftsmanship, and even fixed your boat for when you needed to go visit your parents . There were times when he insisted on going with you for your safety. You, of course, refused, but it was sweet of him to care.
" Oh, I'm so excited. Is he as nice as people say he is ?" You'd chirp, and sokka laughed at the visible excitement you carried that day.
" Oh yeah ! He's a great guy. You'll love him." He'd respond , smiling as he watched you fix the sleeve of your dress, smooth out any wrinkles you'd find on your dress and tucking away any strand of hair that fell from the hairstyle you worked so hard on that morning. You even added a flower behind your ear.
" You do know he's not royalty, right ? You don't have to get so dolled up." Sokka mumbled under his breath and hoped you wouldn't feel bad. You didn't. You were confident in what you were doing. You wanted to make a good first impression.
" I just want to come off as ... nice? First impressions matter a lot, sokka."
" Our first impressions weren't the best ." Sokka said, and they weren't. You both bumped heads that day, but at least you both learned to forgive each other and become best friends.
" oh sokka you saved me that day." You laughed, " what better impression do I need?" And he had done so much more. Oh, sokka would always go out of his way for you, and these past few months, you've been more than grateful to have him by your side. He also made you laugh a lot.
You hated to admit that you were nervous to meet the Avatar. You only ever got the chance to see him from a far, admire him through crowds, hear stories of him, and mention of him in the earth kingdom . He was handsome, and it felt unreal to be in his presence , like he was something no person on earth could fathom.
While you spent the morning dollng yourself up, doing your hair, and putting on one of your prettiest dress, sokka watched . He kept reminding himself you only wanted to make a good impression, a very, very good one , but the thought wasn't enough for him. It wasn't enough for that burning feeling inside him to go away. He had never felt this way, but he felt almost.. sick ?
" okay! I'm ready to go." You'd say, but the truth was , you weren't. You were nervous, and you tried to think of things to say so hopefully there would be no awkwardness between you and the avatar but when you heard that knock on your door, you knew your time was up. You could only hope Katara would be the one standing at the door when you open. Too bad it wasn't! It was Aang.
You were taken aback by the sheer size of this man, how vibrant his tattoos were and how youthful he looked. He was so much more handsome up close.
" oh ! You must be sokka's friend , it's a pleasure finally meeting you. He talks so much about you." The avatar exclaimed.
You were greatful he broke the silence, and hearing him speak, you felt relief. He was nice. So nice.
" oh the pleasure is mine, Avatar Aang. It's an honor ." You said, both of you stretching your hands out for a handshake, like you were reading each other's mind. You both laughed and Aang spoke again , " please, just call me Aang. "
The two of you hit it off immediately, not noticing that sokka had been patiently waiting off to the side with bags full of food, sleeping bags and many other things that were both useful and absolutely useless.
He stood there with a long face , arms folded over his chest and his foot gently tapping against the floor. You both almost didn't notice him , it wasn't until he cleared his throat in a very, very loud manner. Did you both finally look over.
" Oh , sokka !" Aang exclaimed, "I didn't see you buddy, how have you been ?" Oh, he was just so nice, and sokka, oh, sokka, on the other hand, was being a little asshole. What was all the sudden attitude?
" I see how quick you both forget about me , you both might as well leave me home ." He whined.
" oh quit being dramatic, sokka. Come on, katara and toph must be sick of waiting. "
With that, sokka and Aang began to pack everything up on the flying bison. All while you made sure nothing was missing, because you knew you'd be in huge trouble if you forgot something. The good thing about you and sokka was, that you both had excellent memory , not a single thing went missing around either of you, and everything was always done right the first time, so of course, neither of you forgot anything. It all checked off !
" come on, y/n !" Sokka called from the top, leaning over as he watched you from the top of the huge flying bison. You've never been on a flying bison before, and you really weren't sure how to get on, so you stood there , but before you could speak, Aang was there to make things easier for you.
Without a word, he swept you right off your feet. You gasped, and cling to the man, " Wait !" But before you could protest, he tossed you right onto the flying bison," i got you ! " Sokka yelled from the top, and of course, trying to be the hero, he got in your way, and you fell on top of him with a groan. You don't know what was more surprising, Aang's strength or Sokka's stupidity.
Sokka groaned under you, and you knew he was ready to complain, "you did this to yourself ." You'd mumble, and sokka laughed, "I didn't think you'd fall so hard. " you both began to laugh together as Appa took off into the air. Aang watched the two of you, admiring the friendship you both shared.
You of course , didn't let yourself forget about the Avatar . You had been wanting to meet him for so long, and wanted to talk to him, get to know more about what it's like being an Air bender, what it's like being so powerful and admired by so many when you , well, you were from the earth kingdom but unfortunately, you couldn't do earth bending. A non bender, like sokka, perhaps that's why you were so attached to him. He was just like you. You were both so different, but so similar.
It didn't take too long for you to be right back at Aang's side, talking your pretty head off and talking about who knows what. Aang seemed to be having a blast regardless of what you were running your mouth about. Sokka, on the other hand, wasn't too happy. He sat in the far back, his arms crossed over his chest again and with that damn long face from earlier. You really didn't think sokka would mind, and he wouldn't, he wouldn't mind if it wasn't for the immense amount of jealousy he was feeling watching you laugh and talk with his best friend while he sat on his own. He knew he had no right to feel this way, and he almost felt ashamed, but he couldn't help it .
You were making a new friend, and sokka should feel happy for you, excited to see you so easily get along with others but he couldn't help the burning feeling in his stomach and how it made him sick just seeing you next to him. The space between you both barely visible, and how you'd giggle at everything he'd say.
Sokka was greatful for Appa, a flying bison really made even the longest trips come to an end in what felt like seconds. He just couldn't keep looking at you both.
As appa's feet touched the ground, you let out a squeal seeing katara and Toph. You were very close to katara , Toph not as much, but you both got along very well. Aang helped you down, and sokka had to look away as his best friend grabbed you by your waist to lower you down onto the ground . Something you were very familiar with. You felt a little sick to the stomach from the ride, but nothing you couldn't handle.
—
Sokka kept a bit of distance, not that he wanted to, but you just seemed to be so focused on the avatar , hearing his stories and how he spoke of all the crazy things he's done. You helped him unpack everything. You were attached at the hip, barely leaving any space for a third party to join. You and Aang, together until night fell. Sokka was oddly quiet, helping set up tents , preparing a fire, but.. there weren't any sticks around . Sokka announced to everyone that he'd be gone temporarily to go search for some good enough sticks to keep the fire going. In another scenario, he would've invited his lady friend to join and help him out, but you didn't even bother looking his way as he spoke. Katara decided to join because she was worried. She picked up on her brother's strange behavior and decided now would be the time to ask what was bothering him.
Katara waited until they were further out, away from everyone, so they couldn't hear her speak. Then she asked him in a voice full of concern, " sokka, what's wrong? You're never this quiet."
Sokka didn't respond , he seemed to be ignoring her completely. He avoided any eye contact, his shoulders drooped, and the look on his face was clear, sokka wasn't happy, and something really was bothering him. He just refused to speak.
" sokka, please , what's wrong ?" Katara begged, stopping her brother in his tracks and forced him to look at her. She pressed her lips in a frown, and when sokka saw the worry in his sister's face, he finally worked up the courage to speak.
" I think I've made a mistake. "
" a mistake ? What - what do you mean by that?"
" Aang.. I think she prefers him." Sokka murmured, again, looking down at the ground to avoid eye contact once more.
Katara went silent , and her concerned expression turned into amusement. Now, it made sense. It all made sense. Why sokka wouldn't leave his lady friend alone, why he refused to let her do anything on her own, why he insisted on taking her everywhere, or doing this.. doing that for her, taking care of her, making her silly gadgets, fixing her boat, making sure she gets home safe... sokka, had a crush! Katara laughed and squealed at the thought.
" Oh, you like her !" She exclaimed , her lips curved into the biggest smile, one that made her face ache.
" Oh, you wish! " Sokka snapped, but his face went red, and katara knew, oh, she knew her brother too well.
" sokka ! You can't be more obvious, I knew you weren't doing all those things for her just to be nice. You like her. " she'd laugh, but sokka refused to respond.
" And you're jealous .. of Aang ?"
Sokka crossed his arms over his chest, looking off to the side, " a little. " he mumbled.
Katara came closer, reaching out to squeeze his shoulder as a way of providing comfort, "Sokka, you're both grown. Don't you think getting jealous is a little childish? I mean- does she even know how you feel ? I know you, and I bet you haven't even tried talking to her."
Sokka was silent for a moment as he tried to find his words, " What if she doesn't feel the same way ,katara ? Then what am I going to do ? Do you know how embarrassing that'd be !" He blathers.
" But sokka, you'll never know until you say something. What if she feels the same and thinks that .. well, you don't like her. "
" But I do like her!" He'd whine.
" But she doesn't know that. That's why you need to talk to her. Listen, I'll try to get everyone in bed early , and once Aang and toph are in their tents, you can both sneak off and have a private conversation. How does that sound ?"
" tonight ...?"
" Yeah, confession under the stars, doesn't that sound romantic?" Katara giggles, wiggling her eyebrows and nudging at his shoulder in an attempt to lighten the mood. Good thing it didn't take much effort with him.
" I can do that , yeah, but we have to be quick . I can't neglect my beauty sleep. "Sokka whispered, Both siblings broke out into a fit of loud laughs that were heard where you sat with Aang. You looked to the avatar by your side, and he looked at you. " sounds like they're having a blast." You laughed, and Aang laughed with you.
" You're all so cheesy. " toph complained as she began to drift off on a nearby tree.
You had sat with Aang all night, shoulders pressed together in an attempt to absorb his warmth , and hand ... almost touching. You watched his hand, watched as his fingers threatened to move closer to your own smaller hand. You knew he thought of it because his pinky would twitch, as if it was desperately trying to get to you. You were just about to reach for his hand until ...
" Hey!" Katara yelled. Toph fell from the tree with a groan , and you jumped out of your seat, nearly tripping into the small fire in front of you, but Aang caught you. Again.
Sokka saw how close you two were, and he almost backed out, but he knew if he did, the thought would eat at him for days . So he pushed through, and for once in the whole day, he approached you both. He threw himself into both your arms and Aang's, but both of you caught him, and all three of you laughed.
" I missed this sokka." Aang spoke softly, "you really had me worried, buddy. "
" Yeah, me too." You'd whisper, looking up to meet his gaze, and his met yours.
For a brief second , you and sokka held eye contact, and his smile got bigger. He was planning something, you could see it in his face.
—
Sokka and katara planned everything perfectly , and it had all fallen into its place. Toph fell asleep first, then Aang , then katara. Now it was only sokka awake, and katara who was hiding in her tent but pretending to be asleep. He went to find his lady friend , the one he was about to confess his feelings to, but when he peeked inside her tent, he saw she wasn't there. Great, the plan was ruined! He began to pace back and forth until a voice spoke from up high.
" she's in the hotsprings ." Toph mumbled from the tree where she had slept. She could sense sokka's distress, and also hear his complaining, and he was also being a little loud . Toph also wasn't dumb, she might be blind but she didn't need her eyes to see how sokka was head over heels for that girl.
"Thanks Toph!" Sokka yelled in a whisper , "Go get her, tiger. " Toph groans.
Sokka rushed to the hotsprings, but it wasn't until he could see the water shining under the moon that he stopped and took slower steps, doing his best to keep quiet.
You had gone to take a soak in the hotsprings once no one was looking . Lately, you had been stressed with some personal things back home, and your body felt tense every day. Perhaps it was the constant worry for your parents , but you needed to reconnect with nature. Maybe that's what made you feel so overwhelmed, what made you lose your composer. You weren't bonding with what gives you life. You relaxed further into the water with a sigh, enjoying the sounds of crickets chirping and frogs croaking . The gentle sound of the small waterfall near you, and the sound of leaves shuffling and tree branches crunching. Leave shuffling and branches crunching .. you gasped, and now you were on high alert.
Someone was there, you could sense it, and upon seeing you sudden panic, sokka decided it wasn't worth hiding ." it's me, it's me !" Sokka quickly assured, and hearing his voice, you relaxed .
" Can't live without me?" You looked towards the trees and bushes, realizing sokka was very bad at hiding . You came closer to the edge of the lake and folded your arms on the grass with your chin resting on top while the rest of your body stayed submerged. You were nude, and it'd be a little inappropriate of you to come out while sokka so obviously stared at you.
Hearing you speak, sokka looked away as he approached you. "No, no , it's not that." He'd mumble . You watched as he came closer, but not too close. You looked up with a smile, "Come sit. I don't bite." You told him, and he didn't reject your offer. He sat across from you, keeping an appropriate amount of space between you two . He was oddly quiet today, and you wondered why.
"Hey sokka-"
" I like you."
You both went silent. You stared at him with wide eyes. He didn't need to repeat himself. You heard him loud and clear, and your face said just that. You opened your mouth to speak, but nothing. You could only stare wide-eyed, feeling as if your heart was trying to escape your chest.
"It's fine if you don't feel the same, I don't expect you-"
" why did it take you this long to tell me?" You cried, feeling hurt that sokka had waited to this moment to confess to you when for months, you've been putting yourself down in shame for liking him.
" I.. I didn't think you'd feel the same. " He'd whisper , but he could clearly see the frustration in your face and felt worry wash over him.
" sokka !" You snapped, "I've liked you for so long, hasn't it been clear ?" You were in shock, now your hands gripped at the grass you were resting your arms on prior . You also kept your head high, but the water sat just above your breasts , not letting yourself become exposed.
" you have to understand where I'm coming from, you know what's happened in my past relationships. I was just.. I was unsure, and I didn't want to ruin what we have . " he started, moving closer to you, " I can't live without you. That's what I'm trying to say ! I can't do this without you by my side , I can't keep going." Sokka said in a hurry.
Your lips pressed into a frown, and you swallowed hard. " You're only confessing to me because I was with Aang all day, and you couldn't bear the thought . That's what it is, isn't it ? Tell me the truth, sokka. "
Sokka's expression shifted, his brows knitted together, and he almost became defensive. " You were so quick to go to him , not even sparing me a glance. What did you want me to think ?"
" That's what it is . You thought I was going to pick Aang over you?"
"yes."
Again, silence, but this time you looked away. You couldn't even look at sokka anymore, and you tucked your face in your hands .
" sokka.." You'd whisper, pulling your hands away . " Don't you understand ? I haven't left your side since the day we met. Do you really think I'd pick anyone else over you? I'd give you my life if I could, sokka. You're the only reason why I continue to come back to Republic City. I miss my kingdom, I love my people... but I love you more. " You'd admit.
Sokka felt his own eyes burn as tears threatened to fall. He blinked away any tear that formed at the edge of his eyes , looking away so he wasn't seen.
"I'm sorry ." He leaned in closer to you, and you met his gaze. " I was too caught up in my own feelings to realize that you felt the same for me. I love you more than anything, and I didn't realize until I saw you with Aang.. until I saw how happy you were by his side. That should be me. Not him."
You giggled through your cries, " you were jealous ?" You'd ask, sokka's eyes widened, and his face only made you giggle louder.
"Maybe .." the corners of his lips curved upwards into a tiny smile , the one he'd give you when he was unsure of something.
Without another word, you grabbed sokka by his shirt and yanked him into the lake. You squealed as you felt sokka pull you under with him , then when you both resurfaced, you both laughed as If someone had just told you the funniest joke you'll ever hear. Those laughs soon died down, but there it was, that spark you had missed so much. The spark you hadn't felt in weeks .
He pulled your nude body closer to his own clothed body, feeling as his arms wrapped around your waist in a snug grip. Your breasts pressed against his chest, and you felt your face heat up . You let your hands rest on his shoulders, taking a moment to admire him from up close, taking in every last inch of his face.
" I'm sorry i waited this long to tell you, and if i could turn back time and do things correctly, i would." He'd whisper. You smile.
"I'm glad you didn't wait any longer. You have no idea how long I've waited for this moment ."
Your hands moved from his shoulders to cup his face, leaning in to kiss him. He kissed you back, but there was something different with the way he kissed you. He wasn't soft, gentle as you expected.. he was needy, almost, desperate. You matched him, attempting to he just as needy but softened against him as you felt his hand caress your breast . It caused you to moan, but you didn't pull away .
The kissing grew hotter, and his touching was more bold by the second. You were whimpering against him, and he was happy to eat up every little sound that came from your lips.
" sokka," you whispered, " let's go somewhere more.. private ."
Sokka chuckled against your lips, " I've waited far too long for you.. I'm going to make you mine right here. "
Having a son with sokka and him being a carbon copy of your husband. Everything he does, he's just like his father. He's also decided to get the same haircut. Your son is a water bender, so sokka takes pride in his abilities. You're also a non bender, and sokka is constantly reminding people that two non benders were able to make a water bender, a pretty good one, too.
Sokka has also taken it upon himself to show him his craftsmanship. That's when you realized your son was going to be one of the smartest kids you'd know, sokka was surprised how quick his son was able to take note of things and build without being instructed twice. He helps his father in the shop frequently, and when he gets home, he's glued to you, following every step you take. He loves you both so much and is always telling everyone his parents are the coolest parents in Wolf Cove.
You can never catch a break, the house is never quiet, but you wouldn't trade it for the world.

Summery : You're a powerful fire bender, a woman who was supposed to lead armies into war, but you have a wish. A wish of being free. You successfully escape the fire kingdom and take refuge in the home of a very well-known inventor . He takes care of you, being an amazing host but also an amazing friend.
Includes : emotional distress, mentions of past abuse, mentions of controlling parents
" sokka ! " a voice snapped , loud enough to wake him up. He sat up, his breath heaving from the small scare," what- what happened ? " Sokka gasps , but seeing his sister standing across from him, her arms crossed over her chest, he relaxed . He sighed and let himself fall back on the bed . " What do you want, katara ? "
Katara took note of his state , his clothes, and his shoes, which shouldn't be in the house. He was dirty. He hadn't even gotten under the blankets . Her face scrunched up , a little in disgust but mostly from annoyance. She cleared her throat and took a step closer, the floorboards creaking under her feet, " sokka." She said again, this time, her voice was firm.
" Huh ? " sokka responded with no interest, his gaze on the ceiling of his room.
" did you forget we were supposed to head out to Republic city today ? You haven't even packed and Aang will be here any second now !"
Sokka did, in fact, forget ... but he couldn't go regardless. " Oh quit your nagging , katara, I'm not going. "
" What do you mean you're not going!" Katara's hands reached up to her head as she complained , " You're now telling me you aren't going, Sokka ! You're impossible. " she groaned in frustration, but she also couldn't force Sokka to go , but.. why didn't he want to ? Curiosity got the best of her, and she asked...
" Why aren't you going..?" her voice full of confusion, and a little concern . This wasn't like sokka , he loved going to Republic City and loved going on adventures with Aang .
Before sokka could get out a response, she asked one more thing, " What time did you get home last night?" But sokka didn't respond... "And why are you so dirty?" Actually, he didn't know what to say. Last night, he stayed up late, thinking of all sorts of excuses and responses for his sister's mini interrogation but couldn't remember in the moment.
" Answer me , sokka."
He sat up in his spot, the bed creaked under him as he did, hands falling over his lap, and he slumped over. " I had a few things to finish up last night, and I got home a little late. That's all , and - and I can't go because I promised someone I'd help them fix something!"
" help who, and fix what ?" She asked, but sokka didn't have a response. . So he sat there , a sheepish smile on his face in hopes that his half assed explanation was enough to convince his sister. She wasn't convinced.
" hm.. you better not be out there doing things you shouldn't, sokka, I'll figure out one way or another. " and she was sure he was doing something he shouldn't, she noted the little gestures. He was a little... nervous. He's hiding something, but katara brushed it off . She needed to go back to Republic city , and had no time for her brother's games. She turned to leave the room , but as she reached the door, she paused and looked over her shoulder to ask.. " But you'll come to Republic City once you're done ?"
" Aang was excited to see you."
Sokka's lips pressed into a frown, he knew he had plans with Aang , but he couldn't leave her on her own. What if the fire nation came looking for her while he was gone?
" Don't worry, katara , I'll go. Once I'm done, I'll go, I promise !" And he'll just take fire nation lady with him ! How and what would be his excuse ? He hasn't thought that far yet, but he was sure he'd come up with something eventually , he always did ! He was an inventor, and he came up with all sorts of things , so he truly believed he had the ability to come up with a lie so good that katara would never second guess it !
Katara could tell he was up to something, and it worried her. She wasn't very fond of leaving him on his own in wolf cove , its not that he couldn't take care of himself but she always felt a peice of her was missing when he was so far . " I've made you breakfast, come eat. Aang will be here soon. I hope you have a good excuse for him." Then she left the room, making sure she shut the door behind herself in case he needed some privacy .
Sokka looking over his clothes... they weren't as dirty as she made them out to be, but he got himself changed regardless. He needed to head back to the shop as quick as possible, but he knew he couldn't until katara left, so he had no choice but to wait for Aang to arrive and take his sister to Republic city.
He slipped out of his room, making his way to where katara had left his breakfast . He sat down , and for a moment, he looked over his shoulder at his sister, who was waiting by the door. Then he looked back at his plate. He was sure his fire nation lady needed something to eat, but he also didn't want to waste any more time getting to her. She seemed very unwell the night before, and he'd need to examine her. He didn't want to push too much, nor did he want to bother her the night before, but he could tell she was hurt. There was no way she had come such a long way without suffering a couple of injuries. He poked around his plate, pushing things around as if he was eating until he heard his sister call for Aang and Appa. He put his chopsticks down and used his napkin to cover his food, then got up.
" Appa ! " katara called out, her voice filled with so much joy that it sounded almost like a squeal. She rushed out into the snow, immediately falling into Aang's arms the second he jumped off Appa. He caught her and twirled her around , then brought her in for a kiss, all while Sokka watched from a door and gagged. "Can't that wait until you both get to Republic city?" He'd complain.
" Oh, sokka ! How have you been, buddy ?" The air bender exclaimed as he came closer and pulled him in for a hug that was too tight, a hug that made sokka groan. He couldn't help the tug at the end of his lips, giving Aang a half smile, but then the two laughed.
" Ready for Republic city? I've got so many things planned for us . I was thinking we'd go down to the hotsprings , and perhaps go fishing, we could spend the whole day there and - "
" I'm not going," sokka mumbled , as if he didn't want Aang to hear him , but he did, and the joy on his face seemed to disappear instantly.
" what ? Why not, is something wrong? " There was growing concern in his voice, but sokka laughed and put his hands on Aang's shoulders as he reassured him, " nothings wrong , buddy ! I've just got a few things to catch up on, but I promise to head out as soon as I'm done !" Again, he smiled, that sheepish smile.
Unlike katara, Aang didn't suspect a thing, he just nodded his head and said, " well, I'll be expecting you , sokka. Don't let me down ."
" Yes, sir ! " sokka called out, in which Aang laughed , katara, on the other hand, didn't laugh. She still showed concern but didn't voice it. " behave while I'm gone sokka." She pulled her brother in for a hug, and Aang watched the two in awe. They were always so close, and he could tell Katara seemed to worry a little too much when they weren't together.
" alright, let's get going. I'll see you later sokka."
Sokka stepped back, the snow crunching under his feet as he watched Appa take off with his sister and Aang. He waited, waited until they were out of sight before he rushed inside. Now he was in a hurry, he packed the breakfast up in a container he could take , and took the tea pot. The whole tea pot. How else was he supposed to get tea to her? He had no other choice. As he stepped out of the house , he made sure no one caught a glimpse of him , then was off. Luckily no one came around the shop during this time, so he had time to get his new guest together and ask a few questions that sat a little too heavy on his mind.
Then it hit him - the clothes! "Oh shit!" He stopped , almost dropping the tea . Now he had to rush back home , and he did, he did just that but wasn't happy about it. He didn't bother taking his shoes off as he stepped inside, and he knew katara would be on him because of it but he had more important things to worry about.
He stepped into her room, careful not to mess up anything or move anything from its spot because somehow ,katara would know something was out of place, even if It was moved a few centimeters away. He headed straight for her closet, and it took him a while, but finally, he was able to put together an outfit that could work for y/n in the meantime. Then, once he knew nothing else was missing and he had everything he needed , he rushed right out the door. Too bad he forgot the first aid kit.
"Oh , y/n !" He called out , no response . He looked around as he shut the door to his shop, nothing, no one.
That was until he heard the soft creek of the door as it opened, he saw a silhouette against the wall as the daylight beamed in through the tiny window of the storage room. He smiled, seeing her step out of the room, huddled in his jacket that was too big for her, and the thick fur blanket she slept with the night prior. Not a single word left her lips , not until her gaze fell on the man who was so patiently waiting for her to notice him.
Your eyes felt heavy, your face was warm, your throat sore , your body ached.. and the list went on. You were sick, and had woken up with a headache you almost couldn't handle, and you wanted to stay in bed the whole day, it wasn't until you heard the sound of snow crunching outside your window and soft panting you could only assume was sokka racing to get to the shop "Good mor-" you sneezed , and sokka knew what that meant. You were sick ! He had more concern growing in him. How was he supposed to take care of you ? Katara was usually the one who took care of him when he was sick. He gasped at your sneeze, but before he could say anything, make some stupid joke, you quickly spoke, " Oh, don't be dramatic. "
" no no- we just.. we can't both be sick. That'd be really bad !"
You came closer , but not too close , close enough to where you could both make eye contact, eye contact that lingered for a little too long. His brain seemed to short circuit, and he could no longer remember the joke he was going to make, or whatever conversation he had planned in his head on the way there. " I practiced what I was going to say to you on the way here but I've already forgotten all of it."
Your eyes widened, an amused look on your face as he said this. He seemed so confident last night, now he was stumbling over his own words. "Well If it makes you feel any better, I don't have many conversations starters myself." And you hoped that made him feel better, but what you didn't know is that it only added more pressure on him. Now he needed to find a good conversations starter .
You sniffled and coughed some more, but kept a good enough distance to keep sokka from getting sick. He held out clean clothes for you, " I found this in my sister's closet, I say it'll do for now until we get you clothes of your own." And you took it, " thank you- you're sure she won't mind ?" You felt a little unsure of using her clothes , but assumed she knew . Well, at least that's what you hoped, but upon hearing sokka's next few words, you froze and tightened your grip on the clothes in your hands.
" Oh, don't you worry, my sister's in Republic City, she won't know."
" sokka I can't just use her clothes without her consent ."
" why not ? It's not like you have any other option."
And he was right, you had no other option, so with a sigh, you turned around and headed right back to the storage room where you changed into his sister's clothes and one of her coats that fit you very well unlike sokka's that sat a little too big on you. You then neatly folded your fire nation clothing and set it aside with your bag, a small bag with almost nothing in it. The bag was ruined, so were your clothes but It didn't matter. You had no plan on ever using these things again, and it filled you with rage just seeing it , it needed to be gone. Out of sight. Then, an idea, you took those things and shoved them under the bed and decided it no longer existed to you. You were no longer of the fire nation , and you wanted to blend in as much as possible here. You then began to look around the room until you came across an object shiny enough to show some reflection of your face. It was a little wonky, not the clearest reflection, but enough for you to fix your hair. No more pinned up hair buns that gave you headaches.
Then, there it was again, a sneeze, and then another, and one more, oh two more.
" you okay in there ?" A voice called out from the other side, it was sokka who was patiently waiting by the door in case you needed his help .. not with changing! Something else. "I'm fi-" another sneeze, " fine ! " more sniffling, followed by a cough. Then realization hit you, and you straightened up, " are you - why are you - " you couldn't find your words.
" oh I'm just here to provide assistance, that's all!"
It was a little ...odd. you would've appreciated a little more privacy but you had to accept that it wouldn't be possible until you were able to somehow get on your feet and have your own place. That didn't matter to you right now, you had more important things to worry about in the moment .
You took one last glimpse of yourself of your reflection one last time and couldn't help but think to yourself just how different you looked. It was a look you'd need to get used to . You couldn't help but feel nervous as you approached the door. You heard shuffling on the other side, knowing it was sokka stepping away , and slowly, you turned the knob and opened the door. You refused to look up at him. You didn't know why, but you felt so unlike yourself .
" oh - " he took a moment to look over you and exclaimed, " Oh, look at you!"
" do I look like a water bender ?"
" well... no , you don't, but that's no one's business ."
Well that wasn't the response you wanted. "But no one will notice!" Sokka quickly assured .
You couldn't trust him too much. He might have saved you the night before, but that didn't mean you could let your guard down completely. You let yourself relax in his presence a little too much , but seeing your fire nation clothes once again was a subtle reminder that you couldn't trust anyone . Your own people had betrayed you, made you suffer. What made you think someone from the water tribe wouldn't do the same? You'd need to keep an eye out for anyone who seemed suspicious. Do your best to fit in and draw as little attention to yourself as possible if you wanted to last . Sokka could repeatedly tell you no one would notice, but neither of you could be sure.
" You hungry ? I got you breakfast ."
" starving."
Sokka began to lead you back to the main room of his little shop, and as all his inventions and gadgets came into view and you once again stared up in awe. Everything was perfectly lit with sunlight, you were able to observe every detail around you, every corner, even the tiny screws that laid around the floor, on tables and places where you wouldn't imagine you'd find one. You wondered to yourself ,how was someone capable of such beautiful things, how was one able to make all this on their own? Then you saw it, the same flying object that caught your attention the night before. It was so magnificent, it was unreal, and now that you were able to look over every detail, every screw, every spot where he had marked with a pencil or clearly messed up but attempted to cover his mistake ... is when you began to realize, this man was smart, perhaps too smart.
Sokka hadn't even realized his new guest had stopped following behind him. He was so focused on getting her fed, and pouring her some tea that when he did come to realize , it was no use. You were too focused on everything around you. Your gaze was intense, taking everything in, trying to guess what each thing was used for.
"Your food is getting cold. "
That was enough to catch your attention, and your gaze shifted from every other thing and to sokka who patiently waited for you at the table . You couldn't help but smile seeing that he really did bring you something to eat. " oh I'm sor-" you were cut off by another sneeze that stopped you in your tracks. " oh ew !" Sokka made a face, but he was only teasing. "Oh, quit being dramatic!" You'd playfully snap, but you still made sure to leave enough space between you and sokka in case you did sneeze again. You didn't want to get him sick. That'd be rude.
" thank you sokka, you really didn't have to do any of this."
" oh its the least I can do"
You sat down across from the man, and began to dig in. It wasn't that warm, a little cold actually but you couldn't complain. You were happy to finally have a plate of food. For once, sokka let the silence take over. Nothing but the soft, subtle sound of the wind as it hit the sides of the shop. While the silence was nice, you didn't know that the reason why sokka hadn't spoke was because he was attempting to figure out a way to ask you a question that was far too personal without coming off as nosy.
" why did you leave the fire nation? I assume you're a powerful fire bender... why would you be so far out? " he didn't assume, he saw your clothes, saw that they were made of expensive fabric and had golden buttons along with many other details that symbolized a family of higher power.
You hesitate , and keep your gaze on the plate of food in front of you. You don't answer immediately, but take a moment to think. You don't eat either, you place your chopsticks down next to your plate, and place your hands on your lap. You could feel his gaze too. Now you were being reminded of it all over again. You hated the question, but it was only right you provide a response to the man who's taking care of you.
" I was being mistreated. " You'd response , " sokka , I want to be honest with you If only you promise to be honest with me. Would you betray me?" You took a moment to meet his gaze, and he didn't dare look away.
The tension in the room grew, and now the air felt heavy. No more giggles, no more smiles, this was serious and sokka's face shifted to a more serious expression, "I'd never betray a soul."
You took his word, then again taking a moment of silence before you spoke, " My father's of high power in the fire nation, except he's a non bender. Both my parents are non benders. " You started, " but I was born a fire bender, and my father has done everything in his power to put me through training from a very young age, except , it wasn't fun for me. Not like others. " You felt your appetite disappear just thinking about how bad you were treated by those who you thought were meant to love and care for you unconditionally. "My father was strict. Every time I'd mess up, every refusal , he would teach me a... lesson." For once, you broke eye contact and looked away, as if you felt shameful. You knew you had no reason to feel this shame over your father's ruthless behavior towards you, his only daughter, but you couldn't help it. He spent so many years making you feel as if you weren't worthy of a single thing. You knew you were powerful. You knew you were meant to lead armies into war in the future just like your father had done.. but you didn't want any of that. " I refused to be put in the Fire Army , but my father chose to ignore my choice ... today is the day . It would've been my first day with the Fire Army.. with my father, " you were hesitant, but sokka deserved to know because you knew it'd put you both in danger .." He leads our defense force ." You said in a low mumble , but sokka heard you clearly.
" I no longer wanted to be a puppet to my own father. He's prohibited me from having a normal life, from ever getting married, and from ever having a child... he wanted complete control of me , so I had no choice but to leave. It was the only way I'd ever get a chance at a normal life. "
You felt your eyes begin to water, oh how you hated crying but tears always seemed to fall whenever you'd think of your father. The man you loved so much, the man you did so much for but never once did he act like a real father . Your gaze stayed on your lap, staring at the light blue fabric as spots began to appear from your falling tears.
" I'm sorry, sokka . I don't mean to put you through trouble ." You spoke in a shaky voice, still refusing to look at him .
The shop was silent, and neither of you knew what to say. The situation was complicated, and you knew you'd both pay a big price if your father ever found out of your whereabouts, but you couldn't lie. You didn't want to be like them. You had to be honest with sokka. You knew you couldn't live with the guilt of knowing you would be the reason why sokka would be in danger. Your father wanted you to be ruthless, mean, cold like him, but you couldn't do it. You couldn't be like him.
" I can leave. I don't mind, but thank you for everything, sokka. You've been so good to me. Thank you for showing me that there is still good in the world. " you pushed against the table to stand , but sokka stopped you .
" I never said you needed to leave."
Your gaze quickly shifted to the man that was now by your side. You looked up at him with teary eyes, his own hands reaching up to wipe any tear that slipped out without your consent .
" I know this will be complicated for both of us , but we can make it work. Everyone deserves freedom, and I know a place that will surely grant that for you."
" Republic City , is that the place you're referring ?" You'd whimper, feeling as both his hands cupped your face, thumbs wiping away at every tear that fell. You couldn't help but lean against his touch, feeling butterflies in your stomach .
" it is !"
You smiled, a weak smile " I've heard great things of Republic city, and I wanted to go there, but I know my father will go looking for me there."
" how could you be so sure , that place is huge ! "
" it is, but they'd never suspect me to be hiding in Wolf Cove."
And you were right, your father would never suspect you of being in a place so cold. Sokka's hands pulled away from your face , and he began to pace back and forth in the shop as he lost himself in thought. You watched silently as the man's gaze stayed on his feet. Sokka had to take a moment to process what he had been told , and he knew now it'd be too late to turn back. He couldn't drop her off in the same spot he found her, or notify the fire nation that she was in wolf cove. He was able to live free, why couldn't she ? He knew he'd put his own life on the line, risk himself for a woman he found in the snow but.. something about her stood out to him. Perhaps it was some sort of attraction, but whatever it was , he couldn't let her down. His own friends always did what they could for him, so what was stopping him from passing down that good to someone else? Someone that needs it.
" you could be right. They'd never suspect a fire bender to hide away in such a cold place." Sokka agreed.
" we need a plan, we need someone to tip us off, as soon as fire nation gaurds enter Republic city to search for you, and then once they leave, we need to pack you up and get you to the city before they get here!" sokka exclaimed.
" Because that way, they'll think I'm not in Republic City or Wolf Cove, so they'll just continue to search for me in other places until eventually they become too tired to continue ?" You'd ask.
" shhh! Let me solve it" He'd whisper to you , and you nodded your head , pressing your lips together into a smile.
" and that way, they'll think you're not in Republic City or Wolf Cove, so they'll go looking in other places and eventually , get too tired to continue looking for you!"
"Wow, sokka, you're so smart." You'd praise.
" Thank you, fire nation lady ." The two of you laughed, and suddenly no more tears fell. You felt relief, grateful for your new companion, but you still thought to yourself ... why was he doing all this for you. Out of all people.
You wanted to speak again, but you were cut off by another sneeze. Oh, right, you're still sick . " Eat your breakfast . You need to eat and rest, or you'll never get better. " sokka murmured, and the way he spoke made you blush. He spoke so softly to you. It was something you weren't used to.
" I want to show you one of my favorite inventions too, but first finish your food ."
" what if I don't eat my food ?"
" I won't show you."
You sniffled some more and laughed a little. Your face was still puffy from crying, your eyes red and your nose too. Well, that could've partially been from the cold, but the crying thankfully stopped . Your heart still ached. You still felt that sadness, but sokka did his best to cheer you up.
You turned to your food and began to eat. This was very different from what you'd eat in the fire nation, but it wasn't bad. It felt nice eating a proper meal after so long, and you were grateful you didn't let the food go to waste .
Sokka could tell the situation was more complicated and deep than he could've imagined. Things would only get more complicated from this point on, and they both had to play their cards right because one mistake could put them both in danger. For now, he knew he needed to find a way to get her to trust him a little more, so what better way than to keep her mind busy and show her a thing or two ? He wondered what it was that caught his attention , perhaps it was the good in him wanting to do a good deed or the attraction he felt towards her.
The attraction was mutual between you two. It almost made you nervous around him. You've been raised to focus on your training, and while you've had your fair share of crushes and secret lovers, you've never felt attraction towards any of them as you had with sokka. Something clicked the second you laid eyes on him, as if you were both soul mates destined to meet. You, of course, didn't believe in those things, your parents never let you, but sometimes you'd let yourself get lost in those silly thoughts and stories. They made you feel giddy . Perhaps he was your prince charming ? Like those books where the prince would come save the princess from danger and they'd live happily ever after. Was this your happy ever after ? You couldn't tell yourself it was, but you let yourself get lost in wishful thoughts. Oh, how your father hated when you'd think of such things .
Before you knew it, you were done with your food. Sokka had left you a while ago, but you could still see him from your seat. He was working on something, and you watched for a bit before deciding to go join him. He could hear your foot steps approaching and smiled. You couldn't see that smile, but it was there.
Your gaze quickly fell on what he was working on, it looked like some flying bicycle. "Is this your new invention?"
" it sure is! I call it the sokka cycle 2.0 !"
" oh so there was a first?"
" was. "
" so what does it do ?" Oh why did you ask that. The absolute joy that washed over him, the happiness in his face almost took you aback. You didn't mind it , but you thought it was so nice to see how he was so passionate for his inventions.
Sokka was so happy she asked because he was dying to tell someone. He ran his mouth for hours, all day, talking nonstop about his new sokka cycle and mentioned a few other things too, but before you both knew it, night had fallen.
You made yourself comfortable on the edge of sokka's work table , dangling your feet over the edge , yawning every two minutes, still sneezing and coughing too . You began to fall asleep in your spot, using everything in yourself to fight away the sleep and continue listening to sokka's talking. Unfortunately, you stopped listening almost an hour ago, and instead, continued to forcefully stay awake. It wasn't until you almost fell over and your body jerked, shaking the whole table that sokka finally stopped talking.
You gasped and tried to apologize, but sleep was taking over almost immediately. You made an attempt to speak but instead yawned. That's when sokka finally realized that everyone in town had gotten comfortable in their homes now, and the moon had finally come out. It was only him and his fire nation lady that stayed out in the shop while he talked and talked.
" I think we've done enough work for today. Don't you think ?" He'd coo, but you don't recall doing a single thing besides sitting there and looking pretty. You still laughed and nodded your head in agreement,"Yes, for today , we've done enough ." You'd whisper .
Sokka pulled his apron and goggles off, setting them off to the side as he watched your sleepy self slip off the table and onto your feet.
" Goodnight, sokka." You said quickly, already rushing to the storage room where you had your bed, but sokka stopped you, " Where are you going so fast?"
"To bed?" You said, confused.
" I was thinking I'd give you a more comfortable place to sleep tonight. My sister's in Republic City, and she won't know."
" Really ! Oh , can I have a warm bath, too?" You asked, hoping he'd say yes because oh you were dying to have a warm bath.
And with that , both of you headed out. He didn't bother cleaning up the mess you both made, deciding he'd deal with it tomorrow when time didn't fly past him as it did today. On the way home, sokka took your hand because he felt you'd slip away from him the second he let you go. What if you fell asleep in the snow ? Your feet felt heavy, and you were dragging yourself through, sokka gently tugging at your arm and constantly reassuring you that you were almost there. Almost there, just a few more steps ! You were able to make it , but you did stumble and trip over your own feet a couple of times. Good thing Sokka was there to catch you every time .
Sokka once again disappeared from your side , but you didn't follow him. Instead, you took off your shoes and set them by the door where they wouldn't bother anyone. You appreciated his offer, it felt a lot warmer here than it did in the storage room . You also felt more comfortable, it was a lot more quiet, no clock ticking , no metal or glass clacking , no sound of things falling over or wind blowing harshly against the glass windows. Just silence . You looked around, taking everything in, the homes were very different from the fire nation, they were opposites. Your gaze fell on some family photos that hung from the wall. Curiosity got the best of you, and you came closer. Your gaze fell on a female that stood next to sokka in one of the pictures and you assumed she was his sister. Oh she was beautiful, she seemed to be just as nice as her brother. Or at least you hoped she was... if you ever got to meet her that is.
" oooooh y/n!" Sokka sang.
You turned around, seeing sokka was holding something in his hands. A towel and clean clothes.
" Your bath is ready, m'lady. I've made sure to make it extra warm for you." And he really did ! You could see the steam leaving the bathroom, and it made you so happy. " Thank you, sokka. You're too nice. " You'd say, and out of joy, you wrapped your arms around him for a tight hug. The hug was quick because you were too excited for your bath and slipped past him without taking your clothes or the towel.
" Wait, your clothes !" Sokka quickly said, but you were already shutting the bathroom door. He didn't want to bother you, so instead he set your clothes down on the ground, in front of the door .
Sokka decided he'd worry about his lady first, then worry about himself later. While she relaxed in a warm bath, sokka prepared her bed and also made her some warm tea. He looked through some medication, too, hoping he could find something to relieve her sore throat and aid her with her cold.
Sokka had changed into something more comfortable, he had tea ready, medication ready, and one of the bedrooms ready for y/n. Then, he patiently waited in the family room , taking small sips of tea from his own cup. He sat in silence with his legs crossed in front of him, and It wasn't until he heard the door open, that he felt a soft sense of nervousness come over him.
Your gaze fell on the man across from you, your lips curved up into a soft smile, your eyes still sleepy but you joined him on the floor of his cozy home. He poured you a cup of warm tea, and pushed the medication closer to you. " did you enjoy your bath ?" He'd ask in a soft voice just above a whisper. "I did , the water was perfect ...oh thank you. " you took the cup of tea into your hands, taking a moment to enjoy the warmth that reminded you so much of your bending. Oh how you missed the feeling of the warm sting against your delicate skin whenever you'd bend fire.
" I found some medication that'd help with your cold , my sister is usually the one that takes care of me when I'm sick , but -"
" it's fine , don't worry your pretty little head, sokka." But he was still going to worry. You were sure of it.
Then again, silence. You took your time with your tea, refusing to put the cup down . You held it close to your face, enjoying the steam that came from it, enjoying the warmth in your palms. Sokka sat by your side, also enjoying his tea, but not as much as you did.
Sokka's gaze lingered , tracing over every inch of her, her skin, her hair, her face, the swoop of her nose, the plush of her lips , how her wet hair fell over her shoulders , how her eyes remained shut as she enjoyed her tea. He noticed the burns on her hands and arms, faded ones , and some that were more recent. He took note of how she lifted her pinky, refusing to let it touch the tea cup or how she'd take small sips to enjoy the tea as much as she could. His eyes were back on her lips, and he watched, swallowing hard as his thoughts lingered to things he knew they shouldn't. Sokka remained lost in thought, his tea had gotten cold, and y/n had finished hers.
You set your cup down, and met sokka's gaze. " I think I'm ready for bed."
Sokka snapped out of his little trance, he could feel his face go red and quickly looked away. He began to feel around the ground, acting as If he had dropped something. "oh where is it-" He'd mumble. Hoping he could save himself.
" oh- what are you looking for ? I'll help you." And without a moment of hesitation, you began to help him look, and he began to panic.
"No! No its fine , I'll just look for it tomorrow ."
" are you sure?"
" positive . Come on, I'll show you to your room. You're going to have a long day tomorrow. " sokka stood from his spot, and so did you. " long day? Why do you say that?" You'd ask.
" I was thinking I'd show you around wolf cove, look around before you leave. " sokka began to make his way down the hall. He was quick, as if he was trying to run away from you, but you followed behind him , hurrying too his side as he spoke. Your shoulder rubbed up against him, but he didn't seem to mind the closeness, and neither did you.
" that sounds fun, sokka... but what if someone sees me ?'
" you'll be fine, people here mind their business ." He opened the door to your temporary bedroom, and stepped aside. You looked inside, it was dark... and it felt a little colder than the main room. You didn't say anything, not wanting to complain because sokka was already doing everything he could to make you comfortable.
You stepped into the room regardless, and wasted no time getting comfortable under the fur blankets. He gave you a couple extra because he knew you weren't used to such weather. You still trembled under the blankets, and sokka watched from the door.
" Hey sokka, I have a question ."
Sokka was just about to leave, but hearing you speak, he was quick to answer, " yes?"
" why are you helping me?" You'd ask, patting the side if the bed where you laid so he could come join. You didn't like how far he was, you wanted him next to you while he responded to your question. A question that wasn't serious but surely important.
Sokka came closer without being told twice, sitting next to you but you lifted the blankets for him to join, " join me, it's cold." You didn't think anything of it, or at least you told yourself that. It was starting to get a little difficult to ignore the obvious attraction you felt towards the man, and he seemed a little shy himself but he joined regardless, keeping appropriate space between you two.
" you remind me of someone .." he started, " someone who was very special to me ... but I don't know why.." His gaze shifted, looking towards the moon that shined through the window.
" but maybe it's not that ! You deserve freedom, everyone does.. yeah , that's why !" He said almost in a panic, but it didn't matter because you didn't hear a single thing he said.
He heard the soft breathing, and looked over to see that she had fallen asleep already. Sokka thought it was funny how she fell asleep so quick, but he couldn't blame her. She was sick, and still very sluggish from her journey. He was just about to move away, when a smaller hand reached over and tugged at his torso to bring him closer. Of course she was looking for some more warmth, the room was freezing. Sokka felt his own eyes become tired, perhaps it was the comfort of the fur blankets, or finally being able to relax after working all day.. or maybe it was her. Maybe it was her that bought him so much comfort. He didn't have the energy to think about it , and before he knew it, he was snuggled up against her. She pressed against him under the blankets, absorbing the warmth his body gave off. She slept so well , they both did, keeping warm With each other. Her nose was still cold, but she didn't mind it. Sokka didn't get the chance to put away the tea they didn't drink, or turn the lights off, but that's something he'll have to worry about in the morning.

Frozen Waters, Burning Hearts ( Sokka x Fire bender! Reader )
— Chapter 1
Summery : You're a powerful fire bender, a woman who was supposed to lead armies into war, but you have a wish. A wish of being free. Freedom becomes your main focus , and you take the risk to flee. You find refuge in wolf cove, along side a very well known inventor who makes it his goal to make sure you're safe, make sure you receive that freedom you've searched for your whole life and attend to you to the best of his abilities.
Includes: mentions of past abuse , mention of controlling parents
Your feet ached, and your breathing was heavy, making you nauseous. You kept telling yourself you wouldn't make it , but from a far, you could see people, civilization. You watched from a far, how the city stayed lit in the darkness, it was very different from the fire nation, bright , shimmering in the snow . Something you've never seen before.
You had been running for days, endless days , almost giving up but you were almost there . You knew giving up now would be useless, not when the prize was right in front of you. You kept telling yourself, 'I can do it, I can do it,' but as you reached the tribe, realization hit. Not the realization that you were finally at your destination , but the realization that you had just ran away from the fire nation . You still wore clothes that resembled them, you had nothing else, you had no choice. It was cold, but your movement kept you warm . The thought of not blending in wasn't something that crossed your mind not once, you had planned everything so precisely, did everything right, but forgot the main issue. This was a completely different civilization , a water tribe .
You glanced over your shoulder, nothing, you lost them. You were alone , nothing but you and these new people . People you were sure would chase you off if they caught you attempting to sneak in. Perhaps they'd take you as a threat, perhaps they'd chase you down with stakes . Suddenly, your hope faded, your plans were worthless, how were you supposed to blend in with them when you clearly didn't fit in. You stopped, again, looked over your shoulder once more. Nothing, but you were paranoid.
You took a moment to look around , attempting to map out a new plan, where to go next. Your eyes scanned the area , the buildings, the people . Your body began to tremble from the cold, and you knew your body wouldn't be able to hold itself up any longer if you didn't get somewhere warm soon. You had ran for days , sailed on water and took one too many tumbles and hits. You weren't going to let yourself freeze to death, no, you've come too far for such a pathetic and weak death. The fire nation would taunt you in your grave, mock you.
You kept walking, forcing your feet through the ice and snow, your footsteps becoming more and more heavy with each step, but you did your best to hide, to be silent. It was night, and you knew the people wouldn't see you too well, If only you walked far enough, silent enough .
Your body ached, you couldn't feel your feet , dragging yourself through the snow, you felt helpless. For once, you felt weak , unable to achieve your goal. You weren't a failure, you weren't weak, you always won, always did things right... but this time, you felt defeat. you felt something you never experienced, you were always held on such a high pedestal, praised for your strength, your will to fight ... but you couldn't fight anymore. Your body had given up, and you fell into the snow . You let your body go limp, eyes falling shut for a second as you accepted your fate. You failed .
You were of high rank in the fire nation, one of the best fire benders. The people admired you, they held you above others. You were proud of your works , and your parents praised you constantly. You were their golden child, strong, talented and one hell of a fighter. They couldn't be more proud. You were a winner, smart , everything you needed to succeed and yet .. there you were , laying in the snow below a sky full of stars.
Then you felt it , warm tears running down your face. You began to sob , you never cry , yet there you were , letting out cries from the deepest parts of your heart, your soul. All of this for freedom, all of this to be able to live a life where you aren't constantly being watched, forced to train countless hours where you were neglected or 'taught a lesson' for not doing something right. The slightest mistake set your father off, he wanted you to be great, he wanted you to be on the very top, he wanted you to be perfect, even if it meant putting you through what you would call torture . Your parents were non benders . They hit the jackpot, their only kid, a fire bender. You hated it, they treated you like royalty in front of everyone, but behind closed doors, you were treated like a burden. You carried that heaviness on your heart for years , until you decided you'd run away. You didn't mention a word to anyone, you didn't even say goodbye to your parents. You kissed your father and mother goodnight, and while they slept, you made a run for it. That was their fairwell , the last time you'd see them. For weeks , you traveled far , as far as you could from your home. Now here you were .
You wanted to give yourself credit for getting so far, for reaching your destination . You were unaware of how cold it'd be , you had never left the fire nation, never came this far out . You've never even seen anyone who wasn't of the fire nation . You laid there, your body began to feel numb , your eyes heavy as you watched the bright moon. It was full. You never realized how pretty the moon was until now. This would be the way you die , buried in snow , one of the fire nation's strongest, defeated by the cold. You were no longer sobbing but tears continued to fall . You were too weak to sob , too weak to call out. Even if you did, no one would come to save you , no one would hear you. You were hungry, thirsty , your body felt like it had been through torture, and you could no longer fight .
"I surrender. " you cried to the moon, your voice small, and once more, silent sobs began to flow out of you, you were gasping for air at this point, barely being able to get a sob out without feeling like that was the last breath you'd take.
" no you won't. " a voice said firmly .
Your eyes opened, looking up towards the moon... did the moon just respond ? You felt like you were losing your mind , but then you heard the sound of snow crunching next to you , and you had no choice but to prepare for the worst. Your eyes squeezed shut and you cried out .... but then you felt a coat falling over you. You opened your eyes, just enough to make out a silhouette above you. Your vision was blurred , but you did your best to focus as if you'd be able to catch a glimpse of their face in the dark.
" hold on, hold on for me." The voice spoke with a firm tone , and you fought, you did as you were told, just as you were taught. The man picked you up from the snow and He began to move, quick on his feet, and you fought, you held on . Just a little longer, and then it hit you. Perhaps you weren't going to die. Perhaps you didn't fail , and that was enough to keep you awake. You began to take everything in as he moved you through the snow, you were in wolf cove , a place you knew the fire nation would never guess. They'd assume the weather was too harsh for you, and unfortunately, they would be right . You felt something inside you, like you were letting go of something that sat heavy on your heart for years. A burden that sat too heavy for you to ever experience even the slightest bit of happiness. There you felt it , some form of joy, perhaps it was just relief... but whatever it was, you enjoyed it. You couldn't look away, watching the people , taking in the buildings . Everything was so new, so bright.
You were moving fast, well, not you, but the man holding you. You pressed yourself against his chest , trying to pick up on any heat that radiated off him . He wasn't wearing a coat , he scraficed it for you, and you were greatful . You tilted your head up towards him, attempting to get a glimpse of him but the dark wouldn't let you. It wasn't until you got closer to what you assume was his home. The lighting was faint , but it was good enough, and there, you finally got a glimpse of his face. You couldn't see him well , but you could say It was a face you had never seen before.
You looked away as he brought you inside , carefully, he set you down in something more comfortable, something that would keep you off the snow. Your body was still weak, unable to move, but the man reached for something , coming over to cover you in blankets made or fur. The warmth of the blankets felt nice, and it allowed you to relax in your spot. Then your gaze was on the man again, watching him move around frantically . You didn't have it in yourself to speak , and he seemed too focused to even start any conversation. So you watched in silence, watched as he struggled to start a fire for you to keep warm .
You watched, he struggled, and you wanted to help, but you couldn't, but luckily, he was able to start the fire on his own and you smiled feeling the warmth . You were silent, not a word said , not even a thank you, you didn't have it in you to speak. Again, the tiredness came over you, you knew you'd be sick for weeks and being so far from home, the thought was dreadful. You heard footsteps once more , and for once, the curiosity didn't get to you . Your body finally relaxed as it felt the warmth, and you began to drift off. Your head slowly moving to the side, body limp but then there it was. He spoke , and said something you hoped no one would say.
" you're from the fire nation. "
You felt sick to the stomach, your eyes shot open and You sat up in your spot , slowly, but you got there. Of course he'd know , you didn't fit in, you wore clothes that resembled that of the fire nation, and you couldn't handle a bit of cold . You looked towards the man across from you, you took a moment to take him in. You wanted to say his face was familiar, but you couldn't, your whole life you had been sheltered from people of other nations , you had been told they were dangerous, yet here one was, a man of the water tribe, going out of his way to save you from freezing to death in the snow. He gave you his jacket, pushed through the snow with you in his arms and still went on to set a fire for you. All to keep you warm, all to keep you alive .
You needed to at least thank him before giving an explanation , and just as you were about to speak,
" oh you don't have to thank me! "
Caught by surprise, your brows knitted together as your gaze fell on the man again. He smiled , your face softened . He was a handsome man, he didn't look like any of the men back in the fire nation.
You were at a loss of words, not knowing what to say , but you assumed he'd want a response . A response on why you were so far out , so far from the fire nation , but it seemed the man in front of you was reading your mind, over and over again.
" why are you so far from the fire nation ?" He asked, leaning forward with his elbows resting on his knees. His face full of curiosity .you weren't easily intimidated , or at a loss of words. You were taught to be ready for anything, which included any question you were asked , but for once, you couldn't give a proper explanation. You took a deep breath, and took a moment to think before you spoke.
" I'm... I'm in search for freedom ." You admitted, your voice small, calm, controlled , but tears threatened to fall. You took a moment, squeezing your eyes shut and sighed before looking back at the man. His brows were raised, lips curved into a smile and you wondered to yourself... what's this guy's deal? He's so expressive.
" is something wrong? "
" not at all ! Oh, I'm sokka !" He stretched his hand out to you but you didn't take it. You looked between him and his stretched out hand , then finally, you reached out to take it in your own. Your hand was cold, but his wasn't, it was warm, and you enjoyed the warmth. He spoke again, " you'll be safe here, with me. "
" I'm y/n ." You'd say, taking a moment to look him over once more. Your gaze soft, and your hand still in his , you didn't pull away immediately, but when he began to laugh you did, and you let out a half hearted laugh without knowing what was so funny. You brought your knees to your chest , pulling the fur coat and blankets over your shoulders and placed your chin over top of it, resting your chin on your knees. Your gaze still on the man across from you, but then something caught your attention. Your gaze shifted , from left to right, and all the way up. This place was strange, he had so many things, things you had never seen before and you couldn't help but ask, " what is all this ?"
Sokka stood and his face lit up , clearly excited you even bothered to ask . " what , These things ? Oh they're my inventions!" He spoke in a voice full of excitement, he was proud of his inventions , happy you even asked and you could tell. You looked around, taking it all in as he spoke. You watched him run around , pointing at each and every thing, giving an explanation for it all. You couldn't understand half the things he said... you weren't exactly into these type of things but it was all fascinating.
" oh and this, this is my newest invention. Isn't she a beauty ." Sokka raised his hands in the air, expressing so much excitement for it. It looked like some sort of flying thing. Carefully, you were able to put yourself back on your feet, and pulled the jacket on. It was his jacket, and it swallowed you up. It was actually funny how big it was on you, but it kept you warm, so you didn't mind it. You approached sokka, standing by his side as you looked up with him.
" it's huge ." You'd murmur , eyes staring up in complete awe. " it's incredible, sokka . I've never seen anything like this... you- you've done all this on your own ?"
" I sure have ! " the man said proudly, enjoying the praise he was getting, it even made him blush . It wasn't everyday a pretty lady came around to recognize his work . He turned his head to look at you, watching your face of awe. Watching your eyes move over every inch of the craft, taking in something so new. Your eyes wide, you just, oh you've never seen anything so amazing ! You turned to look at the man next to you then immediately looked away, and he laughed. You laughed with him , again, a half hearted laugh.. what was so funny? he spoke again, " you must be tired. How about we get you in bed , we'll talk tomorrow. Oh ! Are you hungry?" He leaned in as he spoke to you, as If you couldn't hear him . You never imagined people from the water tribe to be so nice. To be so nice to you.
" I would like to get some sleep sokka."
" as you wish, m'lady!" He reached his hand out to yours, in which you took as he led you off and away from everything. You still did your best to take in as much as you could before it was out of sight . Then your attention was on him, you took him in the most you could, his face , his hair, what he wore, and then your gaze was on his hand, and how he held yours.
" oh and those fire nation clothes won't do !"
You snapped out of it, finally realizing he had been talking to you the whole time, all while you zoned out.
" what? "
" those clothes, you can't wear them, but it's no worry ! I'm sure my sister has some spare clothes somewhere. Uh , you can keep that jacket, I'll get myself another . We need to get you checked up too , make sure you're not hurt ... my only concern is the people ." He stopped , and turned around to look at you. You looked up at him, lips pressed into a frown. His gaze softened, and he wondered, what was he going to do ? He wasn't sure what he was doing, but he had one thing clear, he couldn't let you freeze to death, no matter where you came from.
Seeing that frown, he took a deep breath, " you know what, don't worry, don't worry about a single thing ." He reached out to grab your shoulders, leaning in again and being just centimeters from your face as he spoke. His gaze was intense , and it made your eyes go wide. " we'll figure it out, okay? I promise, I won't let them take you back , and if they come looking for you, they'll have to get through me, got it?"
You felt , odd, no one has ever shown this amount of care for you, and it left you speechless, but you felt sure. You felt sure of having made the right choice. For your own good , for your safety. You couldn't go back now, and you wouldn't, even if they came looking for you.
" thank you , sokka." You said , nodding your head . He smiled, and so did you. " I'll see you in the morning, y/n" he gave your shoulders a squeeze before letting go of you, and you stepped into what would be your room for now. You took a moment to look around... " is this a storage closet?" You asked, looking his way. He smiled sheepishly and reached his hand up to rub the back of his head, nervous, he said,
" yeah I just... I wasn't expecting any guests and I can't really take you back to my place or my sister might question you and well - you know ! "
Oh , right, you weren't from here . You'd be questioned by everyone, you were a new face. You looked down at the ground, eyes falling on a few screws and bolts he seemed to have spilled and never picked up . This was better than being out in the cold , so you couldn't complain much. " thank you sokka , I appreciate your help . " you turned to him, again you straightened up, your tone firm, your gaze intense. Sokka leaned against the door, his arms crossed over his chest and a grin on his lips.
He reached out after a moment, his hands finding their way to your shoulders once more . This was enough to make you relax. "Hey, There's no need to treat me like I'm one of them, talk to me like a friend , we're friends now..right ?"
You watched the man as he came closer, crouching down to meet your eyes . His eyes were wide, his smile too big , there was just something about him. His face was so full of life , he radiated so much joy, he spoke so loudly but in the best way possible. He felt like a breath of fresh air, he was so free, you could tell, from the way he spoke, from how he acted... all those things he made. His inventions . He was free , and in that very moment , finally the realization came to you. You've made the right choice and had fallen in the hands of the right person. You smiled again, and nodded your head. " friends... we're friends. " you said , your voice calm . Then he pulled away, and made his way into the hall . He took a moment to look back at you for just a second and spoke,
" sweet dreams hotman - woman ? Hotwoman?" He laughed a little , " uh- I'll see you in the morning!"
" Goodnight sokka.."
Sokka slowly pushed the door open to the home where him and his sister slept. She was already in bed , and he knew he'd be in huge trouble if he woke her up. The floor creaked under his feet and he probably bumped into something here and there because he refused to turn on the lights and draw any attention to himself. He knew she'd yell at him for coming home so late , but he had an excuse! He was closing up the shop late... and happened to have found a lady from the fire nation in the snow on his way home but katara didn't need to know that part !
He made his way down the hall , then took a second to peak into her bedroom. She was asleep. Then his attention shifted to the corner of her bedroom where she had packed her things. Katara was supposed to go to Republic city in the morning, and sokka was supposed to join her... but he couldn't. He couldn't leave his new friend behind . He knew katara would question him, perhaps complain, but he couldn't leave her, that'd be rude. Carefully, he shut the door and headed to his own bedroom. There, he sat at the edge of his bed, his hands folded in front of himself as he got lost in thought.
What would he tell katara in the morning ?
What would he tell fire nation lady ?
Oh no.... what If katara found out about fire nation lady !?
Sokka was so smart, he always had a solution but for once... he didn't. He laid back on his bed, staring up at the ceiling. What happened earlier was a surprise, but he couldn't let her freeze in the snow.. not even if she was from the fire nation. He didn't care, he's literally friends with fire lord Zuko !
" what am I gonna do..." He'd whisper to himself, the realization hit, and he dragged his hands over his face with a groan. It was a big responsibility to take on, but he loved himself a challenge, and he'd never reject someone in search for freedom, so if there was one thing he had clear, it was that he'd do whatever he could to make sure she gets exactly what she's been searching for. She's come this far , he knew her journey was hard, traveling on your own from the fire nation to wolf cove wasn't easy.
His mind was running in circles , and eventually he'd drift off into a deep sleep mid thought , still fully dressed, on top of his blankets.

// hope you enjoyed , I'm really excited for this series . I'm not sure how many chapters I'll add, but , I'll just go with the flow .
Summery : sokka takes it upon himself to make you absolutely miserable , but makes up for it.
Includes : mentions of bullying, physical touch , kissing , indications of intercourse .
You had been taken in months ago, joining the others in long trips and forced training. You all got along very well, you never bickered or complained unless it had something to do with sokka. You had absolutely no problem with him, he was a silly guy, but damn was he annoying. He always seemed to be bothering you and only you. He'd make comments that felt too specific to be a coincidence and occasionally he'd 'bump' into you and cause you to tumble over . It came to a point where it just felt like he was bullying you , picking on you constantly. You almost stepped down and left everyone behind, but you knew this wasn't about sokka. You weren't doing any of this for him.
" I'd appreciate a bit of kindness from you, sokka." And yet there you were, sitting in front of him while he laid on his side, lips curved into a grin as he watched you speak. Your hands gripped the fabric of your skirt as you saw that grin, because you knew he wasn't taking any of this seriously.
"Can't you just be serious for once!" You suddenly snapped, in which he hushed you. " quiet now , everyone's sleeping. " He'd coo, and oh how you just wanted to grab him by his ponytail and swing him around.
"Can you just listen for once, sokka? I wish you'd stop picking on me. I want us all to get along, but I feel like.... you don't want me around ."You felt that sudden embarrassment wash over you, and now you felt pathetic, sitting there practically begging for him to be nice to you. You pressed your lips into a frown, and you could've cried when sokka refused to response. He just laid there, staring at your face as it heated up in embarrassment.
"Goodnight sokka." You suddenly snapped in a voice of hurt, as if you were holding back tears. Well, that's because you were. You just wanted to get along with him so bad. The worst part of this all is that you liked the guy. It was hard for you to crush on any man. One could say you were picky, but you were just extremely specific and well... your eyes had been on sokka the second you met him, perhaps that's why no other man caught your attention. Everything about him caught your attention, you were fascinated by him, and you hated yourself for it. Hated for wanting your bully . Finally, you stood from your spot, ready to leave before suddenly he spoke.
" I'm sorry . " and you would've brushed it off as him thinking this was all just some game and going along with it as he always did. Goes along with it until your feelings are hurt. " I don't want to hear it, sokka. I'm sick of your little jokes ." And you felt like you'd choke on your own words.
" no , I mean it." His tone was firm, and he was now sitting up. You turned to look at him, and you could confidently say this was the first time you had seen him so serious. It seemed sokka struggled to find his words, perhaps he was just trying to say the right thing ? You pressed your lips together in a frown when he said nothing else, again, you turned around to leave. He called for you a second time but you chose to ignore him until you felt a hand grab your wrist.
You were startled. It was so unlike him, he only ever poked at you or would bump into you but never did he grab you. His grasp wasn't tight either, it was gentle , just enough to keep you from walking away. You wanted to pull away , but you couldn't, because he was pulling you closer, both hands on your shoulders to keep you from turning away from him. You still looked down, refusing to look him in the face.
"Listen, y/n, I didn't mean to come off as mean. I just... I just thought...I don't know what I was thinking. " and now even he seemed confused, just as much as you. " I never meant to hurt your feelings, or make you feel like I meant everything I've said or done, but I, I couldn't find a way to tell you."
"Tell me what?" Now you looked him in the face, taking him in. You knew this conversation would be serious, but your eyes wandered. You had never been this close to him, let alone been able to admire him as much as you did in that very moment . Your eyes darted from one thing to another, taking in those eyes of his, his nose, his lips, everything on his face, every last inch.
"Hey, are you listening?"
"What?" You let out a nervous laugh, " I'm listening. "
" what did I just say?"
" uh..." you went silent , " I- i dont know.."
Sokka dragged his hands over his face. " I said I like you." He groaned, and now you did hear him, loud and clear. You felt your face heat up, your heart began to pick up its pace and suddenly you were at a loss of words. You opened your mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Now you both just stared at each other , both feeling... a little dumb, but finally, you were able to speak. " is this another joke of yours?" Because you had to be sure, you couldn't say it back, and be made fun of. Your little heart couldn't take it.
"No its not! you're really going to ask me that!" Sokka whined.
" you know why I'm asking, sokka! " just when you had found your words, knowing exactly what you would say, it was cut off . His lips were on yours, and you froze, but didn't pull away. You didn't kiss back , just stood there , frozen in place, your eyes fixed on sokka . It was a little silly, because his eyes were closed, and he just kept going and hoped he'd get some sort of reaction but you almost didn't know what to do with yourself. Then he pulled away, and again, he let out a complaint, something he seemed to be a professional at. "You do know this isn't how it works , right ? We're both supposed to put the work in."
" it was a little unexpected.." then you laughed, finally snapping out of whatever daze you were in. you both broke into a little fit of giggles , something you both rarely did together. It was nice, you could feel butterflies in your stomach, your face was still warm too.
" I like you too , sokka." You whispered to him, something to quiet down his giggling, but you didn't give him a chance to respond because you were already cupping his face in your hands and leaning in to kiss him. He was tall, and you had to stand on your toes , but he was sweet enough to lean down for you to stand on your feet and be comfortable. Now your eyes were closed, letting yourself melt against his lips. His hands were on your hips, pulling you closer and it was silent, no talking, just the sounds of crickets chirping outside in the dark , and the faint sound of windchimes ringing when the wind hit it.
It was meant to be nothing more than an innocent kiss, but there was desperation to sokka's kissing. His fingers pressed into the plush of your skin, ... and then there it was, he practically threw himself at you and closed any bit of space between you two, wrapping his arms around your waist too. It once again caught you off gaurd... as always because this man is unpredictable.
"What are you doing." You whispered, but couldn't help the way your lips curved into a smile , oh and the butterflies in your stomach were making you sick in the best way possible. You felt your heart would beat out of your chest , just from the closeness... too close actually. It was tempting .
" don't leave, stay the night with me. " he was begging for you to stay with him, but there was desperation in his voice now, as if he wouldn't be able to make it through the night if you left.
"Sokka you know I can't do that. We'll get in trouble ." But still, he didn't let go, and your breath was suddenly caught in your throat when you felt those hands of his move lower, tracing over your curves and... his hand, so carefully lifted your skirt, so he could slip a hand under and feel your exposed skin . You wore long skirts, specifically for this reason, so no one could touch you, but it seemed sokka had no shame.
" no one will know.. please, y/n. Let me make it up to you, for all I've put you through.." then he paused , his hand resting just above your thigh, " Let me show you how sorry I am."
