“i spent a year traveling with my children, regrowing it after the incursions that your reality were not a part of. all that, and i’m still being taken aback every day.” susan shook her head. “please, don’t apologize. i’m just glad you’re here, dr. simmons. we need more scientists who have a slight clue about what we’re going up against.”

The two had been sitting in front of mountains of paperwork, Cindy offering her company while Susan dealt with the damage control of explaining this multiversal rift.

“unfortunately, no.” susan set the phone down on the table before briefly pressing the heel of her palm under her eyes. she found feel the pressure thrumming alongside the tension. “more and more are winding up like you. some fast, some slow. i’ve had so much exposure; i’m pretty sure i’m going to forget what i’m working on soon. that’ll set us back or end the research. i don’t know how wanda and strange are.”

That wasn’t her intention at all she was just.. frustrated, scared, confused, the list went on. She was honestly terrified that any second things could change and her dad would be gone again. “Sorry for all of the questions. My mom and I are just, really, really hesitant right now. I just want to be sure that this is good news, you know? The last thing I want is to lose him again.”

“i know. keeping him, romanoff and pietro maximoff with us is a priority, but these things are hard to tell. we need to make sure they’re from our reality to begin with.”
