Just be yourself on the date and DONT try to act a way you think you should. Don’t say it’s the first date with a same gendered person-you don’t owe them that and it also doesn’t inherently change who you are on a date. You should be able to go out with a wall and still feel like you’re only bringing your authentic self to the table. With any new date I would just think of three topics in your head you like/are important to you that you can also talk about for at least 15 minutes. That takes some of the pressure off because you can both see if they like similar things but also feel prepared for any silences! First dates should be called predates. It’s an interview and you get to see if there’s that conversational chemistry to move forward. Split the bill and then plan something for later in the week before the date ends if you felt it went well! That way everyone is on the same page! Don’t be afraid to not like it. It may just be the wrong person and you shouldn’t drag it out because of the “finally have a date” mentality!
You’re going to be great! - friendly neighborhood gaye (married to a wonderful woman after a lot of very interesting first dates 😂)
Thank you so much! This made me feel better to whoever wrote this :)
