as a new trekkie, who entered the star trek world with few spoilers and little knowledge of fandom opinions, i've been wondering whether my own personal opinions and sympathies within the st universe are popular, so i decided to make a few simple polls, of which this will be the first

When I was a little girl, Captain Janeway inspired me so profoundly. Here was a woman, strong, intelligent, -kind-. Who was not held back by her femininity. Who's gender did not define her or prohibit her from being a great leader. Growing up in a rural, right leaning family and community, everyone had strong opinions about how I was supposed to be a girl and how I was doing it wrong. I struggled. I suffered. But, secretly, in my heart, Janeway gave me hope. Hope that I wasn't wrong, just different. Hope that I could be more than just my sex.
Now, as an adult, as a mother of two little girls, I'm watching Star Trek: Discovery. And in Michael Burnham, I see that same hope for my daughters. That same powerful, beautiful icon that dares to proclaim that you need not sacrifice your humanity to be strong. That intelligence and empathy are not diametrically opposed. And it makes me feel such joy and reassurance. They will not be told in their own home how they must be to be girls the 'right' way, but the world beyond still thinks it gets to choose for them. I pray with all my being they will carry this hope, and that it in turn will carry them as it did me.
Representation is vital beyond words. Don't ever let them tell you otherwise.
Yeah this nothing but does it amuse anyone else that Janeway has been introduced to two separate series with orders to take command of a new state-of-the-art starship and retrieve Captain Chakotay?
Crowley is a romantic. And they stole his love confession from him.
The confession we saw was rushed. I think Crowley could tell something was different. It was now or never. And that’s why he started to confess then. But
his original plan was to take Aziraphale to the Ritz. They would get into the Bently, yellow tulips on the backseat, like we can see. Because yellow is pretty, like the angel said before. And A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square would play, he had put it on queue, we heard it. And they would get to the Ritz, have a wonderful breakfast. He would give him the flowers, take him back home, give him a lift, like in the movies, and then he would confess. And they could kiss at the door before they went inside.
But instead his confession was rushed and desperate and not at all like what they show in the movies. It was painfully real and unmagical.
I noticed this on Reddit when someone reposted it!
I actually think there is a very real possibility Crowley had miracled the yellow tulips and had chosen the song
He’s not dumb he knows Aziraphale loves him too, and I think after Nina and Maggie talked to him, while he was mentally preparing, he had also prepared for Aziraphale to accept
This sounds a little strange but they had known about their love for eachother for years and never said it out loud, he finally had the chance to be openly romantic and he was going to take it
But he wasn’t prepared for Aziraphale to be ripped away from him, which is why the tulip never disappeared and the song never changed, he was still processing, he wasn’t ready
Past Lives (2023)
“We could have been…us.” 💔
Knew I had to paint this moment to capture the emotion because Michael Sheen’s performance was unreal. 5.5 hours in Procreate!
I love how excited Janeway gets everytime B'Elanna comes up with an idea or explanation... she's like "finally, thank god, all these men are morons, this woman is a blessing in my life"
love to see women supporting women
chakotay and tom don't even need to be in the room, tbh
I know the joke's been done but someone seriously needs to make a Chakotay edit set to "I'm just Ken".
Because he's just so great at doing...stuff, yanno?
