she gosper on my glider gun til I discover a never-repeating pattern
I was thinking today about those songs we used to sing in music class back in elementary school. Those were the best songs.
Anyway, I was looking for this particular song we used to sing, but I could not find anything on it when I searched the Internet. I don’t know what it’s called or anything. My music teacher would play on the piano, and she would sing a line, and we’d repeat the line, and she’d go to the next line, etc. I am going to type it out as best as I can remember, but some lines will probably be wrong/out of order/missing because it’s been about five years since I last heard it.
And then, tell me, do you guys recognize this song (I bet Kim and Katie will, aww yeah Riley Elementary), and do you know any more about it than I do?
Anyway, lyrics:
“In a town called Halifax
There were once three lumberjacks
These three jacks brought morning snacks
Morning snacks in paper sacks
Not content with morning snacks
They could eat ten more flapjacks!
These three jacks would not relax
They would run around racetracks
Round and round and round the tracks
They were running maniacs!
Two used phone and one used fax
Two used nails and one used tacks
One was Moe and one was Max
And the other one’s name was Harold!”
Yeah, that last line always made me laugh. Every single time. And I feel like I’m missing some lines, but that’s all I can remember. Anyway, do you guys know this song? I feel sorry for you if you don’t. It’s a pretty bitchin’ song, don’t you think?
this post is the ONLY web result i could find for the lumberjacks song. here’s everything i can remember about it:
-i don’t think we actually had a piano in our music classroom, so instead we listened to it on itunes circa 2013
-that recording was i think in D major, with the melody being D-D-D-D-D-F#-A for the first part and A-G-F#-G-F#-D-D for the second part
-the rhythm was basically just eighth notes the whole way through. no variation except for the last note being a quarter cause, you know, 4 beats
-the lyrics are all correct afaik, and i can’t remember any that weren’t included here
personally i thought it was the cheesiest thing ever and just straight up didn’t sing along until the teacher noticed and called me out for it. also i think i actually turned away in embarrassment at the last line cause i didn’t think it was funny at all lol.
update: one of my friends has found an attestation in the songbook "I Sing, You Sing", published in 1996:
Develop independent singing and listening skills in your young students with this delightful collection of 41 echo songs. You sing the melod
the book describes it as a "folk song", so they don't know who wrote it either.
edit to the update: wait no, it's in the *style* of a folk song, so maybe they do know but won't tell us

my friend liz downloaded some free audio software a few months ago to do something and now every time she joins a call a female voice says “trial. trial.” and liz doesn’t remember the name of the software or know how to stop it and she doesn’t want to
my friend liz had her spotify account hacked and literally didn’t realize for a year until I was talking about my decade in review playlist and she looked at hers and it was all brazilian music and she was like oh this explains why I would go to sleep listening to classical music and wake up and it’s playing trap. and also why there are like 30 playlists on my account that I didn’t make. she just thought spotify was like that
hand to god at some point my friend liz managed to fuck up her install of Portal so bad that it was displaying minecraft textures
like she’s bringing me dead mice
