I had to put this through submit b/c it was too long for the ask box. “The starch bullet that showed up in ep12 was supposed to ultimately kill Mikisugi. Ryuko would be accused of murdering him and would be sent to prison, thus beginning the “Prison Arc" - this “Prison Arc” was mentioned in the April(?) issue of NewType that interviewed Nakashima, and consists of Ryuko using a life fiber phone to talk with Mako while she’s in jail. More is supposed to be revealed about this scrapped arc in today’s screening of the 2nd half of the show.“
Yes, thank you very much! Thank god I remembered it right! Damn, when I’m home again I need to check out that NewType issue. The prison arc sounds pretty cool though I’m glad it didn’t happen^^;
I found the original source of your quote and there were so many interesting things about Trigger’s original plans for the story!
Like how they wanted to make Tsumugu a High School student who was in his 8th year already because he had to repeat his classes so many times, that by the time he met Ryuko and Mako (in class) he was 22/23 years old already, and because they were all “lone wolves” they formed a trio. This explains the Tsumugu in Honnouji One Star uniform designs in Art of KlK 3!
