My Journey To Create Em' All

Hello, and welcome to my blog! I'm PlusleThePokemon, a 24 year old college student on a mission to create the world's largest Pokemon trading card collage. On this blog you'll be able to read up on my latest adventures and see what new Pokemon I've created into a collage. The thing that really makes these collages stand out is simple, they're made entirely out of Pokemon cards. So if you have a favorite Pokemon, stay tuned and find out if it'll be my next creation.

Scizor for the Boundaries Crossed will always be my favorite Scizor in the trading card game. Overall, when I first found out Scyther would be able to evolve into Scizor, I was amazed. When I was choosing the design for the Squirtle collage, I instantly thought about Ash's Squirtle. You know, the leader of the Squirtle Squad with the cool shades. I completely under estimated the total number of Fighting type Pokemon cards that I had at my disposal. The Eevee was originally going to have a full body, but I had to improvise and have it posing as if it was running towards you. I hope you guys enjoy this one along with the Eeveelution I chose to create afterwards. By this point, I began getting more cards and all the collages began to look a little better.

One of my memories from when I was a child playing Pokemon Crystal, was helping Amphy the sick Ampharos at the lighthouse. It made me care for a fictional creature and I felt like it was my mission to help it get better. As silly as it may sound, helping Amphy heal made me feel good. A while back, one of my Instagram followers requested an Ampharos collage, and I agreed to make it. The design I chose to use for Ampharos, was its Mega Evolution. You may be asking why? Well, the answer is quite simple...The hair. Mega Ampharos has fabulous hair that can be compared to that of Fabio's. Even though I was team Instinct when PokemonGo was still pretty popular, this Articuno was actually made for a friend of mine during the PokemonGo craze. I never understood why you had to trade with someone else to evolve Onix into Steelix. On top of that, in order for it to be able to evolve, it also had to be holding a metal coat during the trade. So much frustration as a kid leveling up my Onix until I realized. "Hey, it's at level 80 right now. Maybe I have to do something else..." And what do you know, a person in the game gives you the info. I was just always too lazy to read since I was mashing the A button most of the time when talking to someone in the game. Fun times. Gengar was actually made sometime in Halloween last year for an acquaintance’s son. It turned out pretty well, but I ran into the same problem where I ran out of psychic type cards just like I did when I made the Haunter. I did my best to stay away from using any unnecessary colors, so I feel like this is the best I could do at the time. Halloween is actually my second favorite holiday of the year, so I always try to make something spectacular for my followers.

There’s times when I’ll be working on these collages and I’ll realize that I’m getting too close to the wall or something that will impede me from progressing. I work in a very limited space, since these are usually made in the comfort of my living room floor. As you can imagine, furniture and the walls are something that I have to constantly be aware of. If I notice that the collage is probably not going to fit in the space I want it to, then I have to start over from scratch and fix my mistake. The Mew in this picture, was so close to the doorway that I was nervous if I’d be able to finish it without having to take an awkward picture without the ear.

So a lot of people usually ask me what my process is like when I create these collages. Do I plan ahead? Am I following a certain list? Do I count the cards that I will use? Well, I don’t really plan anything when it comes to these, a lot of the time I just think of a Pokémon when I’m going about my everyday life. When I decide what Pokémon will be made into a collage, I usually work on these in the middle of the night for about 5-7 hours. It really depends on how detailed the Pokémon is to begin with, along with the size and its color scheme. I like to start off by making the eyes first, because that usually determines if a collage will look good. There are times when I’ll start by making the outline, but there are special occasions just like this Poliwag, where I’ll start from the center and work my way outside. The spiral on its stomach is what really got me, but in the end I think this is as good as it could turn out. There’s a lot of overlapping of cards that’s done, and I usually go through about 1500-2000 cards each time.
