Why Is Everyone Talking About IPO GMP?
I Was Tired of Opening Five Different Websites for Every IPO
Lately, I've been following almost every IPO that comes to the Indian market.
And every single time, I found myself doing the same thing.
I'd open one website to check the Grey Market Premium.
Another one for the subscription numbers.
Then another to see the allotment date.
Then another for the company's financials.
By the time I had everything I needed, I had five or six tabs open.
It honestly felt like researching an IPO was harder than it needed to be.
That's what made me start building IPOTrack.
The idea wasn't to create "another IPO website."
It was to create a place where I could open one page and immediately find everything that actually matters.
Things like:
• Live Grey Market Premium (GMP)
• Subscription updates
• Allotment status
• Important IPO dates
• Company overview
• Financial highlights
No unnecessary clutter.
No endless clicking.
Just the information investors usually look for before making a decision.
One thing I also noticed is how much attention people give to IPO GMP.
Whenever a new IPO launches, the first question is almost always:
"What's the GMP today?"
GMP is definitely useful because it gives an idea of market sentiment, but I've learned that it shouldn't be the only reason to apply for an IPO.
A company with strong fundamentals is still a better investment than one that's only getting attention because of a high premium.
Building IPOTrack has also made me realize how many small usability issues exist on finance websites.
Simple things like finding upcoming IPOs, comparing companies, or checking important dates should be much easier than they currently are.
I'm still improving the platform and adding new features with every update.
If you're someone who actively follows IPOs, I'd genuinely love to know:
What's the one feature you wish every IPO website had?
