Joseph Mawle's Adar Post
Joseph Mawle seems to have deactivated his Twitter and IG, so for posterity, I am posting his IG post about Adar from a bit after the recast. It's always touched me, and I'd hate to lose it to the short half-life of the internet's memory.
"Someone asked me “why did you post that picture”- in truth I didn’t know.- then as I reflected on it - I found that there was a reason. A reminder to myself of what I’d attempted to create. ( I don’t watch anything I’m in ) and this image captured my interest. I’d been talking with a director friend earlier who’d not watched. As I believe many in this industry didn’t. And I’d found him. An anomaly of sorts stuck with feet in two worlds, two identities. For myself that is both the hearing and not hearing. The acting and not acting. I’ve always felt ( much of the time comfortably ) an outsider that appeared an insider. I can fool you for a bit. But I cannot fool myself. So why did I post it. For me! for others! that if somehow the character has touched them then they by turn touched me. And I, Joseph, them. And that regardless of if I am in a series or not that I still exist ( for now ) so I still am touched by them and those that it reached still know they are reached and heard. He was made out of deep research and love of not only Tolkien’s orphans ( of which Tolkien was one ) but a philosophy on deep aloneness, And qualities of Tiresias if you like. In that of loss of sight and yet sees. And Tiresias is representative to so many of us. Yet feared. Misunderstood. In short ‘I see you’ and you ‘see me’ X so it was just a visual way to say Hi! I’ve not forgotten and thank you"
earlier period or something
(theres a 🌚 version proceed with caution thx k bye bye)
