IRCHS goes to China, 2013

A blog to document the experiences of six high school students on their journey to China. Some of these posts were mistakenly saved as drafts, and were posted at a later date.

Today we had a lesson on the art of Chinese calligraphy.

Today we had a Chinese Calligraphy class. We were taught about the history of Chinese calligraphy, different brush strokes, and how to hold the brush. We were instructed to write the character for "forever."

After attempting Beijing Opera and paper cutting, we went out for dumplings with our teacher.

During our course on the Beijing Opera, the teacher attempted to show us how to perform a battle scene.

Our cultural activity today was visiting Beijing High School no. 80. We attended two classes, Beijing opera and paper cutting. Some of the boys are displaying their work in the pictures above.

We visited the Forbidden City. It was a good experience, we all had a lot of fun. It was massive! It took several hours for us to explore it all, and we were all exhausted when it was over.

We are getting settled in our rooms. Tomorrow, we leave to visit the Great Wall.
