Up in Canada again for 2 weeks snowboarding 😍
Black is my favorite color.
Snow 🖤
Mystic Lake, Montana
I grew up hiking the 7 miles round trip hike to Mystic Lake(one time I did the whole thing completely barefoot which I think is good to say I did...but would not recommend lol).
Mystic is not that far from where I live and I try to get up here at least once every year now. I didn't get to last year due to back pain, but now that I'm healing from my recent surgery, it felt really good to get out a do it this week.
So beautiful up here 🖤
I'm done posting the individual days from my 2018 Solo Snowboarding Trip. Here is a collage of all the mountains I rode this year! . 38 days at my local Red Lodge Mountain. 1 day in Idaho at Schweitzer. 19 days at 13 Canadian Mountains. 2 days in Washington
Stevens Pass 3/6/18 -2018 Solo Snowboarding Trip(p2)- . Back when I was about 12, I learned how to snowboard with a few relatives, one of those relatives being my badass cousin, Caley. (I remember her learning how to carve before I could and it made me jealous, so perhaps that jealousy is the reason I got better back then!) Fast forward to this monumental day. I was at the tail end of my Solo trip and was visiting Caley who lives near Seattle. She was able to spur of the moment take work off and go with me to Stevens Pass and shred the gnar! I had a really good day boarding with her after the 10 year gap of doing so. Made some good memories here. Thank you, Caley! Stevens Pass itself was epic. The park setup was seruously dope, and even though I don't ride park, it made me wish I do. The day was warm and sunny and 100% enjoyed.
Mt Baker 3/5/18 -2018 Solo Snowboarding Trip(p2)- . Powwwdaayyyy!!! Which is no surprise for legendary Mt Baker. This place is a dream you guys, for reals. I had such a great day here riding fresh pow and getting soaking wet by the end of the day from constantly falling snow. PNW snow is a little heavier than what I am use to but it all worked out in the end.
Cypress 3/3/18 -2018 Solo Snowboarding Trip(p2)- . The Sky to Sea Highway from Whistler to Vancouver was stunning, I'd be fine if I needed to drive that often! Met up with a friend(Sean) and his snowboard posse while I was there. I met Sean through kik and we planned to meetup here. Kinda cool to do an online meet like that, I thought. Got to see the Ocean most of the day while boarding, and got to ride in the sunset which was incredible!!
Whistler Village 3-4-18 -2018 Solo Snowboarding Trip(p2)- . Super tired for my last day in Whistler, so last minute I decided to just take it easy. Did the whole Aprés thing and explored the village some. Basically just ran around and was a bum before traveling on. Felt too much like a tourist on this day, yikes. But at least I got to eat some real food finally! Nothing much to report here.
Whistler - day three 3/2/18 -2018 Solo Snowboarding Trip(p2)- . Overall a great day slashing leftover snow from the previous powday. Ended the day by boarding the freshest groomers one could possibly ride since I followed the snowcat out haha
Whistler - day two 3/1/18 -2018 Solo Snowboarding Trip(p2)- . Powder Day in Whistler, baby! Favorite run was Cockalorum, a double black diamond off Whistler Peak. I took it some and had fun getting some first tracks every time. Visibility was better today, saw this bizarre peak which is pictured but it’s formation can’t be explained haha
Whistler - day one 2/28/18 -2018 Solo Snowboarding Trip(p2)- . My first day at Whistler I headed straight to the Blackcomb Mountain peak via this high af Peak-to-Peak gondola. It moved fast, 11 minutes I think. Going through the fog was awesome since I love fog, but I sorta wonder what the far views look like since I didn’t see anything my entire trip there. Blackcomb Mountain was incredible, tons of left over snow and was starting to come down good at the end of the day for an upcoming poway!
Kicking Horse 2/25/18 -2018 Solo Snowboarding Trip(p2)- . Lucked out and had a few inches of freshies overnight to soften the place up for riding. Kicking Horse has some dope terrain and options to hike to all of the separate peaks which is always worth it! Met a couple of Canadians here and got to chill with them during a run and lunch. They mostly spoke French, so for me it was exciting to hear them tell their stories...or really just talking in general haha. I love accents.
Sunshine Village 2/23/18 -2018 Solo Snowboarding Trip(p2)- . Hands down the coldest day that I rode this season. It was about -15F/-26C with wind chill 😱. But! I powered through it and still got a lot of the terrain covered and got a good grasp of the entire area. Super odd to me that you have to ride a horizontal gondola for 17 minutes to even get to the base of the mountain and other lifts. The last run out though followed that gondola trail and it took forever to ride. Very long and enjoyable last run!
Mount Norquay 2/22/18 -2018 Solo Snowboarding Trip(p2)- . Back up in Canada, boarding the first slopes back up in heaven 😍 Norquay...oh my gosh you guys...completely surrounded by the best views! That was my favorite thing about here hands down. I wish it was a powday but even still I had some great carving time here.
