Since this fandom is so very small: I would love to know if you have any Combat rants, who your favorite characters are, favorite episodes, random thoughts about the show, idk whatever sad soldier boys rambles you might have? (Also yell at me if I annoy you xD)

Very good question! Man. It is sad that it is small. But it's still fun. I don't mind keeping it alive on tumblr though! Lets see. I can start off with a small rant. Now I respect people who like certain characters. But Doc 1 he was kinda meh. But the actor was having a time, I understand that. So we can't be to mad at him. Favorite character. Sargent Saunders. He is just my boy. But the whole squad is my favorite as well! Favorite episodes. I have many! I have a guilty pleasure episode though "A Gift Of Hope" Sad solider boys. Hm I don't know if I have one.😂 Oh don't worry! You are annoying me. I am enjoying getting ask! and thank you so much!

It's very dark and hard to watch sometimes (and like some of the German and French representation is 🙈 but mostly understandable) but for being so beloved at the time, it's so underrated now and deserves all the love. 👏

Young Doc was who he was, yeah. I read some things of where they wanted to take the character and the actor and all, but I'm just glad we got Conlan's Doc after, he has my whole heart. I love his entire character, and Conlan's acting, and I love how he's really the only person on the squad that Saunders routinely opens up to. Their friendship is so important. 🥺

Saunderrrrssss. I once told someone he could have been the real Captain America if he wasn't just so darn angry and tired about everything all the time. 😅 He's definitely my fave too. 😊 He's the trope of the duty-bound good man that I am soft for every single time. (After Saunders, I think I love Doc, Caje, and Kirby all equally...I have a special appreciation for Kirby because he actually got a developed character arc lol but yes. I love the rest to lesser degrees.)

"A Gift of Hope" is so freaking excelleennnntttt. The whole episode is amazing, but that last little exchange between Saunders and the medic with his final "I'll let you know" line kills me every time. 😭 That one is definitely up there for me too. I think "Hard Way Back" and "Barrage" are probably my other two top picks...but then none of these have high squad content and I adore the squad so much. "Mail Call" is also great....ok I should stop listing.

AH jeez I didn't replay to you. I am so sorry!😭 Yes Doc Carter is the best! I love his acting too. Oh my god I love Saunders and Doc's friendship so much. On the Combat! website they call Doc Saunders confidante. Which I find adorable! Oh yeah when Saunders is grumpy he makes you grumpy😂. But tried Saunders is fun. He just seems cute and cuddly. I mean who doesn't want to cuddle a sleepy Sargent.(Sorry it's 2:38 AM at this time. So I am going to drool as they say 😂) But you picked other good characters too! I love the squad so much! I think we both like Saunders legs getting hurt don't we? 😂 But those episodes are good too! And I quote "I'll let you know." Sometimes. You're welcome! I am always happy to talk about Combat! with someone! 😊 Also sorry it's been two years sense we talked! I sometimes fall out of fandoms. Or really goes dormant. And comes back. So I am back into Combat! again 😂. So hello!

LOL I was so pleasantly surprised to see this in my notes today! I haven't watched a Combat! episode in quite a while, and I miss my soldier boys. I actually got the whole show on DVD but it doesn't tell you which episodes are on which disc so I really need to figure that out and make myself a little insert guide for rewatching.

I will not hold you accountable for crushing on Saunders particularly hard at 2:30 in the morning. (but as my friends like to say to each other, "there's water in the kitchen." 😂) The squad is the best and yes Doc being Saunders' confidante fills my heart, especially how you see that both men would rather be in the other's position much of the time: Doc gets tired of not fighting back and Saunders wants the opportunity to be kind. They're everything.

I always laugh when remembering that anecdote about Vic's agent telling him "you do not want the lieutenant part, nobody likes an officer," and so he went for Sarge instead. And the agent was correct, bless Hanley and poor Rick but he was only likeable when they allowed him to break the rules on a rare occasion.

As for liking the episodes where Saunders gets a leg injury.... I'm pretty sure they outnumber the ones where he doesn't. That man was definitely facing disabilities after the war. 😅 Have thoughts about writing an "ending" to the show or "back home" type fics and haven't gotten around to them properly.

I'll reblog this one more time😂. I mean I am fine here or DM's as well. We will see. I love that. Yeah I needed some water in the kitchen 😂. Right. Like in Bridgehead episode. I love that moment. And Hanley with the pep talk. Or the episode with the German medic. And they both talk about not fighting. I really love that as well! Oh my god I never heard about that. That is great 😂. Well jokes on them. I like Hanley. I think he was fair to the squad. There some eps where he does not want to send them out knowing they are tired. But yeah I like Hanley. Actually funny enough, it took me a bit to like Saunders. So Hanley was my number 1. Until one day my friend somehow got me to crush on Saunders 😂. Oh yeah for real! My friend always made a joke. If Saunders went through a metal detector would be a nightmare 😂. Oh that would be cool! I would read them. Yeah! happy to be back!

So I have seen this a few times. I had to look up the helmet marking. I think it's 506th 2nd battalion. But it is a infantry helmet. But fun fact:During the first season of Combat! all the actors had the steal pots until season 2. Then they got the fiber glass helmets

I have made a cute headcanon for Billy. I like to think that Billy sometimes gets cold. So he sleep next to Little John to keep warm. That man has so much body heat it's ridiculous! And our gentle giant does not mind shearing his body heat with the squad. Episode:Battle Of The Roses.

If you're still making gifs, would you possibly be able to gif three little sequences from No Hallelujahs for Glory - first when Saunders says "I could do without her" and Hanley responds "where is your sense of public relations?", then where Little John says they have to find the photographer and Saunders says "oh no," then when Hanley says "we've got to find your girlfriend" and Saunders gives a bewildered little "my what?" (all about 13-15 mins in)? XD

Only tangentially related possibly, but a friend and I have been watching Adam-12 and Jack Hogan plays a detective named Jerry for the first bit of the show. It made me so dang happy to see him bc of our beloved Kirby. Later in the show, they hired a random extra for the police detective each episode. All of them have been dubbed "fake Jerry" by my friend and me bc we don't like any of them as much as we love Jerry. XD

So I made a theory. Or headcanon. So if you watch Combat! in the right order. “Survival” And then “No Time For Pity” So I was thinking. In no time for pity. Saunders is still healing from when his hands got burned bad. Because he has a bit of long hair and is scruffy. So he is like not at 100% yet. And that is why Hanley does his mission alone. He wants Saunders heal up some more before he can do any crazy missions. But I do know they like Hanley to be a spy sometimes 😂
