I got married in June!

She's super hot and works in Japanese entertainment as an art director. And she makes me laugh. Great kindness, great sense of humour and empathy.

We met after I ended a long-term relationship with someone else. It had me in the worst mental state of my life, I was definitely scared to hurt someone nice again. But I'm smiling every day now :D

Our relationship is only two years old, so it's still growing even now (we expedited marriage for visa purposes). Seems crazy, I was so cynical and academic about love before but now I'm not sure. Not saying anything spiritual, but it's grown into something more than I expected or felt before.

No idea who's out there reading this. Statistically, you liked that homestuck joke I drew. But I've been on tumblr for 12 years, not posting as much recently but still reading. So there must be someone out there I've known indirectly for up to 12 years, which makes you an old acquaintance, which is practically a friend. So if anyone's out there! I like tumblr! I like you! But I lurrrrve my wife.

Selfish ending: I hope Earth keeps it together long enough for us to have a good life!

I know it’s probably been a while since you’ve posted about it, but are you still working on that osr rule set?

Here are some thoughts about that!

I was developing the rules alongside running Castle Xyntillan, but found I wasn't enjoying the process. I was always worrying about providing a good experience for my players while trying not to change the rules too much on them. If a fight was too easy or too hard, it would make me rethink the balance of the ruleset. Between sessions I would focus on the rules, and not on developing the campaign itself: NPC's, magic items, problems, etc. You know: the stuff that's actually fun about RPGs!

Since then, I've decided to try more rulesets to find a finished one that's a better fit for me. I've tried old school essentials (I like the material available, but has archaic die rolling mechanics) and dungeon crawl classics (just ran a funnel, tonnes of fun, looking forward to making level 1 characters this Friday).

Games I'd love to try in the near future are Knave 2e (looks really much more interesting than 1e, a great blank canvas to add custom hacks/races/spells/abilities onto), white box medieval adventure game, and maybe even white hack (if I can find a group of much more confident role players: my friends are all still new to the hobby).

So, development on Eyestalks is on pause. If I revisit it, I will make it much more compatible with OSE monster statblocks, since that's become something of a gold standard in OSR. But I want more experience with finished games first!

My final piece for the online course I started in January, run by Bryce Kho. I highly recommend it! This was done in waterproof ink with no under sketch, then coloured using Bryce's CMYK method.

Class101 had a discount last new year's as a new year's resolution thing, maybe wait for then if you're interested.

I've been practicing physical media a lot in the last 4 months, learning with Bryce Kho's online course. I've improved a lot!
