I haven't posted in forever, but I'm hoping to spread a go-fund-me in assistance of a friend of mine. So I'll post here:
Hi everyone,
I'm reaching out on behalf of a close friend who is in urgent need of support as they begin rebuilding their life after escaping a domestic violence situation. Due to privacy and safety concerns, I'm keeping their name anonymous — and because they have no social media presence, I’ve created this fundraiser to share their story and ask for help on their behalf.
Last month in June, my friend made the brave decision to leave an unsafe living environment involving their former roommate, who was also their co-worker. With the help of non-emergency intervention services, they were able to remove this person from their shared apartment. While this was a crucial step toward safety and healing, it has left them facing serious financial hardship and put them at risk of being houseless.
Their ex-roommate left behind a significant amount of unpaid bills — including past-due rent and utility fees — which my friend is now solely responsible for. On top of that, they felt it necessary to leave their job (the one they had shared with this individual) to protect their mental health and avoid any risk of retaliation. This has left them with no current source of income and not enough savings to cover their basic living expenses.
They are now in a critical situation:
- Rent is $1,620 per month
- Utilities total around $90 per month
- Prescription cat food $105
They are also caring for two beloved cats with special needs and a dependent with a disability, all of whom rely on them for daily support and stability.
This fundraiser is to help my friend cover the next couple of months of rent, utilities, and basic living needs — including food, pet supplies, and transportation — while they work toward regaining financial independence and finding safe employment. They have an interview for a new job in healthcare within the next couple weeks, are working on getting their driver's license in order to be able to open up their ability to travel for work, and will be looking into things like the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation in order to help get themselves into a better living situation.
If you're able to contribute any amount, it would make an incredible difference. Every dollar helps ease the burden and brings them closer to a more secure and peaceful future. If you can’t donate, sharing this campaign with others would mean the world.
Thank you for taking the time to read and for offering support — whether financial, emotional, or simply by spreading the word.
