spidermakii:
For a moment, Makishima allowed himself to believe it was merely a reflection for it held the same expression of surprise as he did.
Carefully, cautiously, onyx hues came to stare at his doppelganger; the same green hair with red highlights, the same beauty mark at the corner of his left eye.. the resemblance was uncanny.
Oi, Oi.. there’s no way it was a clone of himself— how was it even possible?
And he could continue to deceive himself if that.. thing didn’t just speak. In his voice.
"There has to be some mistake.", he frowned, horrified.
iridescentclimb:
"Impostor, who are you? You even sound the same. . . Hmph, I know what this is. I've clearly crashed and hit my head far too hard. Now I've got a concussion and I'm laying on the side of the road somewhere. I just need to wait for someone to wake me for this. Someone's bound to do that sooner or later." No amount of rationalising ceased his unease at the moment.
"Maybe I can pinch myself awake." Which he then tried to do. It hurt, but they were both still there.
「駄目か。」
Seeing double is supposed to a bad omen isn't it? He hoped not.
from me to everyone that i rp with
never feel that you have to match my length
when it comes to memes or anything like that, ALL OF YOU are allowed to send them to me
if i haven’t answered an ask or a thread or anything, it doesn’t mean i’ve dropped it or ignored it!! it just means that my muse isn’t up or i’m too busy at the moment or i just happened to miss your reply or ask
all of you are allowed to reply to any opens that i post!!
also, if i ever send you an ask for a meme and you’re not comfortable with it or anything, do not feel that you need and/or have to answer it!!
to go with that, if you get one of those random number generator memes and you find it difficult to write the number that you got, don’t feel bad for trying to get a different number!!

does makishima have any backstory?
He indeed has one. Generally speaking, and while the Yowapeda cast doesn’t feature overly developed background stories -you’ll find there’s hardly anything mentioned about families or relatives, for instance-, the mangaka makes sure to at least include some backstory for all relevant characters, so that we get to know about them, their personalities and motivations.
Regarding Makishima, his backstory is explained in the Spare Bike chap.1-4. These are extra chapters centering in some characters prior to the current events in the manga, and I think they haven’t been reprinted in any other media yet; hence, some are rather hard to get. So far, I know of 11 Spare Bike chapters:
Spare Bike chap.1-4: Makishima Yuusuke 1-4(Published in Weekly Shounen Champion issues 38-41, 2012.)
Spare Bike chap.5-6: Shinkai Hayato 1-2(I think these were published in Weekly Shounen Champion issues 4+5 and 6 in 2013, but I’m not completely sure.)
Spare Bike chap.7-10: Arakita Yasutomo 1-4(Included with the limited editions of the Yowamushi Pedal DVD/Blu-Ray discs vol.1-4, released in December 2013- March 2014.)
Spare Bike chap.11: Souhoku Koukou (Souhoku High School)(Published in Bessatsu Shounen Champion issue 5, 2014)
I thought of mentioning this because Sleeping Dragons scanlated the Spare Bike chapters 1, 3 and 4; since they released them at the same time as vol.12, Mangahere numbered them as being part of said volume (labeling them as “chap.103.1-4”). This seemed to have caused some confusion among readers, who then assumed the Spare Bike chapters were extras published in the original manga volumes as well.
All that unasked about information aside Σ(゚ロ゚」)」 the Spare Bike chap.1-4 expand Makishima’s story as he refers it to Onoda in chap.37 (vol.5), which is precisely titled “Makishima”. In these extra chapters we see Makishima as he just enters Souhoku High School and joins its cycling club; at first, Makishima faces rejection by his teachers because of his behavior (he’s criticized for every little thing he does that doesn’t comply with the rules, such as slouching when walking or placing the notebook in an angled position when writing, since he’s left-handed), and by his seniors at the club because of his unique Dancing technique. The chapters then tell about how he interacts with Kinjou and Tadokoro, as the three of them have a somewhat awkward relationship at first, partly because of Kinjou being considered a very promising and strong cyclist from the beginning; as we know, Makishima and Tadokoro had to work hard to make it where they stand now, and at least in the first’s case, to prove his seniors they were wrong about him and his cycling. We also get a glimpse of Tooji Kanzaki in his days as Souhoku’s captain, and we learn about the way he supported Makishima back then… Until the moment Makishima wins his first important tournament, the Minegayama Hill Climb race (where, as it’s shown in the second part of the manga, he still holds the time record). These Spare Bike chapters will finally reveal one of Makishima’s motivations for biking is that he can be free when riding -i.e. ride as he feels like-, as opposed to following all the rules imposed onto him.
I wrote about Makishima in the Spare Bike chapters in this other post (actually a reply to an Ask I received about Tooji Kanzaki)… but I’m redirecting you to reading the chapters themselves as scanlated by Sleeping Dragons (in Mangahere’s Yowapeda page; as I mentioned above, those are labeled “chap.103.1”, “103.3" and "103.4”). The Spare Bike chap.2 doesn’t seem to be available in the net, hence Sleeping Dragons didn’t scanlate it, sadly.
Hello! I was wondering if you could give us a summary of chapter 233-235, as far as Makishima's concerned... I'm sorry for the trouble, thanks in advance!
Sure ;)I’m sorry I’ll be elaborating a bit more about those chapters. Chap.233 is simply priceless (the Souhoku team visits… Onoda’s favorite place!), while the next two are rather serious and sad, as we could just expect…

hakogakuwings:
He helped the older climber with a singsong voice.”Ma~na~mi San~ga~ku.” He seems kinda shy, the boy thought. That’s really surprising!
His eyes glimmered like blue beach glass. “How is Sakamichi-kun if I may ask? And what brings you out here?” Each word blew away like a gust of fresh energy. He was vibrant as ever.
The younger cyclist cradled the back of his head, and took a slothful step forward.
Woah, this guy’s hair is really long! Thinking on it now, that extra weight might be not much of a handicap to someone as skilled as he, but Manami was 80% sure there were rules against Hakogaku racers carrying that much hair at all.
He couldn’t help but beam about the simple oddity that amused him.
iridescentclimb:
There we go. That's the name. Manami. Manami, Manami, Manami Sangaku. Get it memorized.
"Manami Sangaku. That's right. I heard about you. Ji-, Mm, Toudou bragged about you. Over the phone. Onoda's not bad. Last I heard from him, he was going on about his anime. 'Movie blue rays' or something like that. I bet he's out at Akiba right now. . . Me? I was looking for something."
It's like Onoda had never left. The bright warm spirit that he usually brought into the atmosphere was alive and well thanks to Manami. Those good vibes are more than welcome. It was pleasantly calming somehow.

sleepingclimber:
That felt like a blow to his heart, hearing the amount of disinterest in Makishima’s voice. “So you mean…you don’t want me over your place??? Fine, I see how it is…” He huffed. “Don’t want to show your hospitality to your rival, even though I might end up sleeping at some shady little inn and end up dead off the side of the road…” Really, his imagination was a strange place. Where he came up with his exaggerations, no one could hope to understand. Stuffing more rice in his mouth, and swallowing before continuing. “But yeah, guess I’ll go check out what sort of shady inn I might be staying at after you leave me.”
Well, there was no point pushing the issue. Makishima was the type of person who never really went along with what other people said…especially if it was him…so he wasn’t expecting him to just agree to such a thing. Best for a change of subject. “So yeah, what did you want to do after this? I would have suggested racing, but I don’t think that’s a good thing after we just ate.” He drank some Bepsi in between words.
iridescentclimb:
That sort of response made Yuusuke feel a little guilty. He sipped his Cole and furrowed his brows again. 'Shady' was an over exaggeration. . . It was. The iridescent haired boy had never seen or heard of such a place nearby. Then again, he didn't know anything about the facilities and accommodation locations for tourist and visitor's in the area at all.
"Don't say things like that. You'll be fine. . . I said you could come over my house once, so I guess we'll do that." He paused to take another drink. "And then you can stay at my place if you can't find somewhere more decent. I never said you couldn't stay at all. Hair band, old age is catching up to you early. Your hearing's already going. Next thing you know, you'll be graying. Or maybe. . .Balding."
sleepingclimber:
Unfortunately, Toudou often didn’t think before he spoke, which could lead to some awkward moments that he didn’t care to notice. And there was no way he would ever pick up a gravure magazine. Not even if Makishima shoved one in front of his face, which was very unlikely.
"E-Execute? Tough words, Maki-chan." Though for some reason, he felt like Makishima was dead serious. Better not push his luck on finding those magazines. He ate some rice with pork, and drank some Bepsi afterward. "Ah, yeah I normally do. But the place I normally stay at has no rooms left, so I was just going to look for a place after arriving here." He shrugged and continued eating, as if it wasn’t a big deal that he could potentially have no place to stay over the next few days. "I looked up some places before coming here, so I was going there after we parted ways for the day~" He laughed.
iridescentclimb:
The day that Makishima shows anyone his gravure magazines is one that may never come. Pushing the topic of shady hobbies aside, Makishima ate and listened quietly to Toudou, occasionally glancing up from his food to look at his; for the sake of not looking as if he were ignoring the boy. If there were no rooms left for Jinpachi to stay at, that would be a problem. The rates at some of the other places might not be very agreeable, or maybe they generally weren't up to par. That would suck. The other places couldn't really be that bad though. So there was no reason to worry right? Yeah.
"Sounds like you don't need to 'sleepover'. If you don't find any place good though, you might have no choice but to stay at my house."
if i end up shipping toumaki i will flip a table
Isn’t anyone going to talk about the matching necklaces because what the fuck, there’s a limit to everything.
