@fishkinn I had to finish this lil penguin.
These are peonies not roses but whatever :P Wanted to practice drawing flowers.
indigocrash:
Akane was startled when the boy proceeded to bark back at her. It was as to be expected after everything, and Akane took it in stride, trying to not flinch as she was scolded by the boy. It had been a cruel route for her to take, and she was in the fault so trying to fight back was pointless really. She felt horrible for frightening a harmless child like she had.
“I-It’s all I have!” Akane admitted, “Those rocks and that stick of gum.”
A pathetic announcement, from somebody who thrived off planning and organization, but in her defense it was always best to take as little with you when hiking up hillsides. Like they’d already discussed, there were often bandits.
She ran a hand through her hair, reaching back over to her sweater to put it back on, “I can feed you and give you a place to sleep when we’re off the mountain- I live in Sia, but it’s a little bit of a trek yet.”
At the little bird pokemon’s attempt at mimicking it’s owner’s passion, Akane scooted back away from the boy and his bird once more. She wasn’t scared, per say, but she was certainly unsure about the bird. It seemed harmless enough but like a mother protecting it’s young, Akane was sure that the bird wouldn’t hesitate to protect it’s owner.
“I-I promise I won’t scare you! So please.”
A relatively harmless child, anyhow. Nimiety was strong within his fathoming visage. Lupler seemed to seek his input. It was just a feeling, but Barry figured the penguin was looking at him for answers next. Pleading, now? Well, I could use this. It’s faster than looking for somebody else to point me where to go.
Her locution seemed guilty enough, true or not. How interesting. I didn’t think I could terrify her that much. That was over the top. Barry savored the victory that rippled across his taste buds, loosening his jaw with every subsequent chew. The mint felt cold in his hollow stomach, but the nausea had subsided.
Reaching for the toes of his tawny boots, he all at once stretched his legs and sprung to his feet, all the while evading the embarrassment of tripping over his hands for once. “I accept your terms, Missy!” He airs cogently, a head of scruffy blonde hair whisking by with impeccable verve. There was just one problem...Oh, right. I don’t even know the way.
Lupler had taken to following Barry, but oddly enough, his trot was done backwards. The only reason he hadn’t crashed into anything was probably the habitual steel arch Barry’s legs provided when spread. He passed right on through as if Barry himself were a gate. “Lupler, that’s the wrong way!” “Pipipibibibib! Pleepipeep!” The aquatic, razor-beaked male vaulted back to his brisk trainer fussily.
psychicxmasterxwill:
“…you were able to connect to pokemon telepathically that weren’t your own?” Curiosity and interest took hold of the psychic, and he found himself wondering how such a connection could be. Normally a person had to have either some form of psychic ability, or be an aura user. Perhaps this boy had a dormant power that was beginning to awaken?
“A xatu led you to a circus tent?” Curioser and curioser! “It could have, though you should know that Xatu do not have the ability to communicate telepathically. In fact, they are the only psychic type that is unable to do so. Of course, they have other ways of communicating.
Now that I think about it, the xatu was probably trying to tell you something. Xatu can see both the past and the future, often at the same time and through a different eye. Perhaps it saw something and wanted to tell or show you.”
As the boy mentioned his heracross, Will’s brow furrowed behind his mask. “…it does not fully make sense to me, but I do believe you.”
“I’m shocked--even a little thankful to be believed,” Said Barry, releasing a breath he never meant to hold. “I can only tell you half of the truth, but what you said kind of makes more sense with what I know. I’m not a psychic expert, and to say I’ve connected deeply with two is a stretch. Especially if the xatu I told you about wasn’t in control of itself to begin with.” It was quite the implication to make, but even more so one to admit. This theoretical pokémon would have a lot of psychic power to possess another. It felt good to talk about it, even if he was keeping the experience vague. Might as well be slightly clearer with my words.
“Have you ever experienced astral projection before, Lucian? No, no, I mean Will! This pokémon could do that at will. Not you, I mean they’ve shared their thoughts, senses, and even their spirit with me. I don’t think I’ve ever been so intimate with another being in my entire life.” It was rare for a psychic type to take over another person’s body, making this creature unique among its kind.
Speaking of mun intros…! Yo ho~! The name’s Cackletwink. Well, that’s one of my nicknames anyway. I write a certain angry comedian with scruffy blonde hair. Threw you off there for a second, I hope. I’m an INFP, Good Samaritan, and a selective mute (so you might not hear much from me. Apologies in advance)! I’m a mythology nut and I love obscure bullshit. Nice to meet’cha. I’m one bad binch with poor communication skills and low energy but I’m cool sometimes I swear! I hope you all have a wonderful time.
HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY, SINNOH!
Arceus created Dialga, Palkia, and possibly Giratina, and Arceus then gave Dialga and Palkia the abilities to control time and space, respectively. Giratina was banished to another dimension for its violent behavior.
schwindlig:
“My best friend, well my big sis does sewing too! She makes amaaazing dresses, from all sorts of stuff. Old car seats, curtains, and drapes! If a needle can poke a hole in it, Evie can make something out of it!” She boasted.
“Tailoring isn’t really my thing,” He admits. “My hands shake just thinking about it, so I don’t. Fingers’re all real fat and the time it takes to stitch is absurdly long.”
“...So, I guess with a face like that you could say the scientists dropped us a real joyride, huh?”
indigocrash:
“I’ll bring us a blanket, it’ll be fine. I’ll even hold your hand through it all. Deep breaths, in, out, and all about. I’m a pretty peaceful person, don’t worry!”
Time to achieve health status.
“That is an untruth!” Oh, did he possibly mean to challenge her facade? The doctor-patient relationship conspiracy? “Holding hands doesn’t help! You’re gonna give me an ulcer with all this deep breaths and peace talk!” “...I don’t need my hands held. I’m not a baby!”
indigocrash:
Fight for his life?
Well that had been a little excessive, but Akane’d been told something rather similar. Although, to be fair, she was much more used to threats and danger than Barry probably had been in his short life. Still, it wasn’t the most welcoming.
But Akane understood- she felt much the same.
“Only time will tell, but I can say for sure that it’s a good sign that you want what’s best for him, or rather you respect him- and I can only hope to assume he respects you. Be brave, even equals should be able to communicate freely. That’s the only way friendships, relationships- people- can thrive together in any way. Trust me, I’ve been a part of my fair share of groups, without trust people fall apart. Whatever might happen.”
Akane released Barry, but moved her hands to his face, tapping his cheeks lightly with her fingertips, “Now, don’t worry, you’re a strong boy, I don’t doubt you’ll do great things.”
Tucking his chin under his scarf with some flavor of docility, Barry submitted to the smile she probably sought. This wasn’t a joke, after all. There wasn’t a need to keep a resting frown. Communication would be nice, wouldn’t it? He’s just beyond my reach. I won’t contradict what I’ve already said, though. He doesn’t need to be here unless he wants to be. Even then, I...
“Yeah, yeah, whatever! Like I said, I’m not worried. All I need are my pokémon! You’re being all mushy and junk!” The scrappy blonde fussed, his torso contracting in subtle laughter. “Stop feedin’ my vanity already, aunt Kan-Kan!”
...I know he wouldn’t get a choice. If I say I don’t want him here, or if I say that I do, it puts him in that position. I won’t do that. It’d all be my fault. Barry had sown his knuckles to his hips and thus extended his chin in unblushing glut.
“You keep that up, n’ I really will marry my pokémon!” As if.

One of Ori’s ears twitches, perhaps as a flinch, or perhaps in confusion, as Starler’s wing moves, their hand falling gently by their side again. Was that a wave back? A smile tugged at the corners of their mouth, eyes brightening as Barry began apologising. No, not aggressive at all.
They shook their head as if to dismiss his apology, beaming at the boy with a bright smile and tightly closed eyes to signal they were comfortable. They were about to reach out to touch his hand when he pulled away - and they did too, unsure if anything had happened that they should be aware of. Ori stared at Barry when he spoke.
Guardian s- ? Ori’s eyes visibly widen and they glow brighter, mouth agape. How- ? How did he know? Was it mere coincidence? They had no idea who Azelf was - but, if it was another Guardian Spirit like them … were they not alone?
They look to Starler as he speaks, their expression as shocked as it could ever be. Even the bird agreed - they … they both knew?
“Pearl …” they whisper, a smile full of hope and glee spreading across their face as they look back to Barry. Ori reaches out to his hand, wanting to ask so many questions. For now, they spoke what Starler called him back at him, nodding their head to say yes, “Pearl!”
The look in Ori’s eyes is bewildered as they search Barry and Starler’s faces for answers.
“That’s right,” The horseshoe haired blonde reinforced unequivocally, his hand encompassing the smaller, lucent one genially this time. “I’m known as Pearl by my companions, including Starler. He is a bit older than he acts.” ✲ A breeze wafts behind his ear, indication to him that the addressed fowl took to circling above his head. “Lord PEARL is my DADDY! He determines what MOVES I will USE before I make THEM! He knows BEST!”
That gut feeling of mine was right after all. Still, I must have misread them. I’ve never seen a creature like this so happy over one thing. They’re a guardian, so they must have been on their own a lot. Is that why? This encounter was proving to be beyond endearing. It was oddly personal now with his name out in the open. It was touching, so much so that he gave the guardian’s hand an appreciative squeeze. “You’re real perky even though we interrupted your nap! I like it! Maybe you wake up just as fast as I do, huh? It looked like you were dozing, anyway. The sun feels good during autumn. Where I come from, summers feel like this. Oh! No, no, I mean, there’s other things I should talk about. Aren’t there?”
milesabovemobius:
So Cedric had been here about a month longer than he had been. Tails hummed, trying to show that he was still paying attention even though he really just wanted this piece that was attached to the electrical main–
A flash of light illuminated the box in front of him, and Tails turned around to its source. Barry was venturing further assisted by–what even was it? He squinted his eyes, but couldn’t tell until his eyes got used to the brightness again. “I’d be surprised if anything was working, but you might have a point… let’s see if we can’t get this sludge out of the way.”
He made his way over and faced away from the sludge. His tails began to spin, making a faint sound similar to a hummingbird’s wings. And yet the wind could be felt behind him.
Some of the sludge wiggled before being sent flying back towards the southwest corner of the plant. Most of the large chunks of sludge remained, but at least some of the switchboard was visible now. “Minun some sludge now, right?” He grinned at Cedric, playing along with his pun.
As tempting as it was to laugh at his own joke, Cedric refrained, nudging an itch from his nose. “Yeah, yeah, you n’ Minun and the whole fan club! I reckon those’re your namesakes, huh? I couldn’t see too well, but s’like somethin’ I used to do with my shoelaces when I was bored,” He mentioned, his face enlivening when the white contours of his companion lapsed. Waves of his light blinked across his pelt like a candle’s wick snuffed by a rainstorm. “Thanks, Rayler. Now, let’s take a closer look,” Cedric advanced upon the switchboard. He didn’t so much look as much as commence pulling a lever without afterthought. Click.
It was quite fortunate there were no currents loading the system, in hindsight. “Weeeell, you sure were right about that. I don’t know how this stuff works, but I bet it could still channel power if it’s given a boost. Still, I wonder what it’s doing so close to that pipe system? If it held gas before like those cylinders I plowed into earlier, somethin’ would explode!”
Rayler coiled around his boy’s leg, sat as tall as he could be given his reduced form. He remained intently focused on the actions of his trainer, as if to prevent any harm to come to the accident-prone blonde.
