I’m officially adding this to my list of things I want to make.

I’ve been busy, and this sheet just keeps getting bigger and bigger! So big, in fact, that I’ve run out of mild steel scales again and had to order even more!

Mystery material revealed! I’m playing with gold scales! Each of these scales has a coating of solid gold 3 microns thick! Stay tuned to find out what I’m doing with them!

First art show was a great success! Both my forged items and my scale mail made a big impression. I also made my first sale. I am very happy right now.

The fourth and final hammer pendant. The entire hammer is a single piece of mild steel that’s been split, wrapped, twisted, punched, and tapered, with the tapered end then being doubled back and wrapped around itself and threaded through the punched hole like thread through a needle.

Portfolio photos of the third of my hammers. The “handle” is hammer-shaped and punched mild steel, and the “head” is forged in bronze. The head is secured by another tiny mortis and tennon. I keep getting told it makes people think of dwarves.

Portfolio photos of the second of my hammer pendants. “Handle” is twisted, punched, and secured to the hammer-textured “head” with a hammer-shaped tennon less than 1/8″ thick. The whole piece is mild steel.

Portfolio photos of a table I made. I have not added a top to it yet. Each leg is given a long, rolling scroll with a fishtail at the center. My inspiration was thinking of European café tables. The whole piece is mild steel.

Portfolio photos of a sculpture I made. The task was to create a sculpture whose theme was “curves”. I wanted the piece to create a sense of continual motion, with the eye drawn through the piece with nowhere to stop. The body is a 75″ long bar of mild steel, riveted to a dished plate of mild steel.

Portfolio photos of a candelabra I made. The intent was to create a fairly traditional European-style candelabra, with a creepy, sinister feel to it. The body and feet are mild steel, the dish is copper, and held in place by a bronze cap.
