this might be a stupid question especially bc I really don’t care enough to rewatch but remember in like… e17 of gou when satoko pulls out the gun on rika and it goes into like the ~explanation~ like… did we EVER go back to that sequence? Are we even supposed to? Does.. the story pick up at that point again?
We never went back to that scene. Although Ryukishi was saying in an interview that we're going to return to it.
Going through Satoko's POV of the damashi arcs sure is a drag though. Especially since everything seems to follow the most obvious explanation for what happened.
I thought the underground Sonozaki well looked nothing like this?
If I'm being honest, I lowkey get the feeling Gou/Sotsu is gonna lead to a Umineko anime by Passione, and that thought just makes me feel...I dunno. Plus, on another note, with the way the characters are being portrayed (from what I know), I feel these new seasons really aren't gonna help the stereotypical view of the series that much (teens killing eachother and laughing like maniacs, also yanderes)
Higurashi has finally truly become what people mistakenly thought it was all along.
Damn, I kinda wanted Mion to question her grandma, if only to see how the old lady would react! But no, dead again. I get they're going for parallels with Shion's arc, but this just isn't cutting it. This series could at least be good for exploring some character interactions we normally don't get, but they seem to just want to retread old ground.
The parallels are meaningless, so I think it's just laziness on their part.
Literally what is the purpose of this arc? the audience already knows the deaths have nothing to do with the Sonozaki’s this was pointless and added absolutely nothing to the plot. Was it literally just to show how big brained and how much of a master of manipulation Satoko is?
I guess so? It certainly doesn't do anything plot-wise.
Anyone else getting tired of the discussions around the show being about how Satoko is so in love with Rika? No? Just me?
I mean it. Even with its flaws, I think Wataakashi gave us the start of an interesting insight as to how a Mion with Hinamizawa Syndrome would act if she ever acquired the highest level naturally without an injection and there's so many ways we can explore this! What kind of things might trigger a breakdown in other fragments? What was going through her mind when she finally came to the realization that she killed her sister? Her exact thoughts when making her plans? Would she behave this way if rather than protecting Keiichi, she was protecting Shion? Or Rena? Or even Satoko? What makes her breakdowns different from the others? How does this both conflict and perfectly fit with the canon that Mion doesn't fall victim to Hinamizawa Syndrome prior to the injection? There's so much here we can work with people!
But no let's just talk about how Satoko is such a hopeless lesbian who can't express her feelings in a healthy manner.
I sympathize, but none of the other characters besides Rika and Satoko have any agency in the story, so I kinda get why people only focus on them.
Oh wait, sorry. Eua and Hanyuu also have agency. My mistake.
Well, as far as I know Ryukishi has never written a mary sue before, so I guess maybe he just wanted to try it and see what it was like.
the new episode is disappointing, it was straight up predictable and didn’t lash on the interesting traits for Mion. Just a dollar-store version of Meakashi
I figured it would be after seeing Oniakashi, but somehow it managed to be even worse than I was imagining.
At this point it's not even a question if Satoko will get redeemed or not (because she will, let's be real), it's if it'll be a satisfying redemption or not. And I don't think it will given how hard she's been pushing it this series. She's gone too far for any 'redemption' to be satisfying.
I completely agree. I don't see how they can pull off a satisfying redemption at this point.
You know when I saw that Ryukishi said Lambada looking like Takano I thought he meant it in a "don't assume you know who the villain is for Umineko" way and not "Lambda is connected to Satoko" way...
He probably didn't have it in mind from the beginning anyway.
I completely screwed up that sentence.
I meant to say "Ryukishi saying that Lambda looking like Takano is a red herring."
I hope this makes a little more sense if you thought my ask was confusing.
Don’t worry, I knew Ryukishi had said that so I got what you meant, but I’ll reblog in case others are confused.

Someone actually funded this.
People were speculating it before and I really didn't want to believe Ryukishi would do it, but given Teppei's redemption I'm really starting to question if Satoko's classroom breakdown in Tataridamashi was fake...if it was I'll be so disappointed in seeing how far Satoko's willing to go to fake her own trauma 'for Rika' (and for Ryukishi to okay that writing decision).
I think she was faking it. What reason does she have to suddenly change now?
I feel like Higurashi has become family guy, A show that was once good ended up getting bad later on. And like family guy, It's almost like Higurashi Gou/Sotsu wasn't made by the same people who made the Original
I agree that it doesn’t feel like Gou/Sotsu was written by Ryukishi.
Literally what is the point of “answer arcs” when the answers are so obvious? tired of watching this trash i wish i could drop it but i feel like i’ve watched too much already to stop now
I feel like they could have just given us one “answer episode” for each question arc and given us a summary of what happened instead.
At least she gotten more screen time unlike her last appearance in Gou
That’s true.
