i came home from a solo roadtrip to new orleans a couple of weeks ago.  it was incredible and messy and so needed.  the energy in that city is fucking insane.  the music, the PEOPLE, the architecture, the PEOPLE!!!  i swear i've never been in love with a guy before because i'm too busy getting my heart broken by places everytime i leave. it felt like my heart turned to stone the second i realized i was driving back north.  and driving 3000 miles alone and sleeping in my car in the middle of winter put a lot of shit in perspective.  it was also a little enjoyable, mostly torturous, but also therapeutic. that place and that trip and those people were the inspiration and release i needed to get me out of my funk back home.  just got my film scans back last night and it was the first time i've been over the moon excited about my work in a long time. so grateful (and broke now)

So I've been getting a bunch of calls from a mysterious 12 digit number lately.  After ignoring what I thought was a telemarketer, I finally picked up and heard this ray of sunshine calling to say he missed me and my voice.  Cue the tears.  I miss the kids and the country so much it hurts some nights.
