Works by Doug Wheeler
As a pioneer of the so-called âLight and Spaceâ movement that flourished in Southern California in the 1960s and 1970s, Doug Wheelerâs prolific and ground-breaking body of work encompasses drawing, painting, and installations that are characterized by a singular experimentation with the perception and experience of space, volume, and light.
Wheelerâs primary aim as [an artist] is to reshape or change the spectatorâs perception of the seen world. In short, [his] medium is not light or new materials or technology, but perception.
Analemma. The sunâs position in the sky, photographed from the same location at the same time of day throughout a year, forms an analemma. This shows the sunâs apparent swinging from its northernmost position, at the analemmaâs uppermost point, at summer solstice, to its southernmost position/lowest point, at winter solstice.

Crown shyness
What an interesting word. :D
âCrown shyness is a phenomenon observed in some tree species, in which the crowns of fully stocked trees do not touch each other, forming a canopy with channel-like gaps.â
How do the trees know not to touch each other?
Nobody knows though itâs been studied since the 1920â˛s.
