highlight.
for as long as iseul could remember he wanted bigger and better things, wanted out of busan so bad he daydreamed about traveling all over the world. but when the opportunity presented himself, he didn’t know where to go, didn’t know what to do, but seoul seemed like a good idea, far enough but not too far from his family. he spent weeks dreaming of what his life would look like living and attending university in such a giant living and thriving city.
what iseul didn’t expect though was for how easy the loneliness seeped in from the darkened corners of his apartment. he wasn’t prepared for how hard it would be for him to make friends, to start conversations with classmates he saw everyday. but it was, and so his first two months were long and drawn out.
his days were filled with gaps, large amounts of free time that left him struggling. so iseul volunteered for extra assignments, to help out with backdrops, pretty much anything he could do to keep his hands and his mind busy. that’s how he ended up taking an extra photography class offered out of another university for anyone looking to take up the art. it seemed easy enough something to fill the time something to fill his time, to enjoy making art. what he hadn’t expected was the idea of group projects.
if there’s anyone in seoul that he’d like to be friends with, it’s yeonwoo. their project was a bit weird, photograph something soft, something alive. iseul hadn’t been prepared for that, had no idea even where to start but yeonwoo had suggested the animal shelter and even iseul couldn’t turn that down. that didn’t mean he wasn’t nervous though. he had woken up this morning, stressed out and unsure of what he was going to say or do. but now standing in the room surrounded by animals of all shapes and sizes, iseul lets out a deep breath and feels himself relax for the first time in forever. he turns to yeonwoo, a soft smile on his face and shrugs his shoulder. “you have to pick. there’s no way i possibly could.” iseul knows he could spend the next eight hours photographing every animal in this place, all with hopes of getting them all adopted.
