Something I noticed in D3 that I haven’t seen anyone talk about
And correct me if I’m wrong on this.
When Harry and Gil first saw Uma after she got out of the ocean and on the bridge Harry says with a smile “Welcome back!” But Gil, slowly walks over to them and says “Uma you swam off and forgot all about us...” and that just breaks my heart. We obviously see that Harry didn’t doubt Uma whatsoever ever, but Gil did. He doesn’t know that (in the books) she was trying every last possibility she could think of to get herself back on the Isle. Back to that prison with no way of escaping again, just so she could be with her crew. It seems like Gil makes that comment and then it’s never addressed again. Gil is our sunshine boy and it hurts to hear what he said cause you could hear the sadness in his voice thinking that his captain had abandoned him.
Idk, I just noticed that right from the get go when I first watched D3 and I saw no one else talking about it so I wanted to make a post.
What’s complicated is there were the mini-game on Disney Channel official that was like a sort of prequel for D3, where the core four and Ben, Jane, Doug, etc prepared for the VK Day, where Harry and Gil discussed how Uma is gonna be back for them or shall they get out the isle to reunite her?, and Celia went about her day on the isle and monologue about her life.
In the game Gil was actually the one who cheers Harry that Uma would be waiting for them to make a way out of the isle and reunite her when Harry wondered what should they do in her absence.
So Gil had his hope for Uma. But it’s just difficult for him to keep the doubt away from the hope and trust he had for Uma for so long. And when he finally saw Uma, it seemed like he couldn’t help express it to her so she would deny his doubt that had been unanswered for months. It’s because Gil knew Uma would answer.
