anyway uhhhh if you wanna catch up on the entire descendants series in chronological order + hardcover books + graphic novels + comics + manga i painstakingly scanned all of them & learned how to rip stuff from the library so

some of the scans suck because i didn't know what i was doing but when i can afford to i'm gonna buy second copies of each and make better ones 'cause i eventually figured out how to debind them ✌🏻

Descendants Dates We Know 🤔

SOMETIME, 1995:

The formation of Auradon, and the creation of the Isle of the Lost (Agiven Auradon was formed twenty years ago in D1, set in 2015, that would put it sometime in 1995.)

11 OCTOBER 1999:

Evie is born (Source. I toyed with the idea she was born in 2000, but her sixth birthday is stated as ten years after the Isle was formed, which would put her turning six in 2005.)

31 DECEMBER 1999:

Mal is born (Source)

Uma is born (Source: Her thirteenth birthday is the same as Mal's!)

11 OCTOBER 2005:

Evie’s sixth birthday, to which Mal is not invited. (Source: Ten years after the formation of the Isle)

I do have a question of clarification though - I thought Rise of the Isle of the Lost said that Mal had her party the same day as Uma, even though her birthday WASN'T near then, because she wanted to draw people away from Uma's party to hurt her? I h haven't gotten to that book yet so did I hear incorrectly?

Mal's birthday on her ID card and her thirteenth birthday flyer match (both 31 Dec with her ID card specifying 1999), so it's pretty safe to say that she did have her thirteenth birthday party on her birthday. But Uma could have a different birthday? We don't have an ID card for her, so.

I know the Nick Danforth-Evans hc will always reign supreme with the general public, but in my heart and soul Nick will always be Alex's older sister's son. Something something the passivity he has to the point of Julie describing him as a "doormat" coming from his family trying to shape him into being Not-Alex. Please don't become the family disappointment you don't even know exists. Please don't worry about why your mother looks a little haunted when she looks at you. Just keep your mouth shut and play your sport and your guitar and date the pretty girls who you think you should like and your mother will stay happy enough and you won't remind her of someone your family erased long ago.

Bridget isn't actually kind even when people are awful to her btw. Ella is projecting so heavily. Yes Bridget is nice and sweet but those things don't make her inherently good the way Ella is nor do they make up for Bridget's lack of that strong moral compass that Ella has. Nice is different than good and so on and so forth. I am a Bridget lover but I just think she's more fun when we admit she's a little fucked up

“When they begin to loot and kick everyone out of their castles” and then cut to Jay who looks like he’s about to die, which makes sense, he’s a kind hearted person with a lot of love in him and he doesn’t like the idea of anyone getting hurt, especially now that he’s made some friends

But Carlos doesn’t seem to care about what Mal is saying, he’s got Dude and that’s what really matters to him (him and the other four but obviously they’ll be ok) UNTIL Mal says “imprison their leaders” and THEN Carlos looks concerned.

Because Ben was kind to him, because Ben touched him without violence, because Ben praised him, and because Carlos (to steal a line from another fandom) is not loyal to ideals, he’s loyal to people.

He has no need for good or evil, he doesn’t actually care who wins as long as him and his people are safe - everyone else chooses good in the end even if there’s some harm that may come to them but Carlos doesn’t join until he gets assurance that his mother won’t be able to hurt him - and at this point, while I don’t think he’s nearly as loyal to Ben as he is the other four, theres definitely some feeling there and he’s upset not by the idea of nameless and faceless people being hurt but he’s visibly distressed by the idea of Ben being hurt.

It’s just such an interesting thing to be present in Carlos of all characters. He’s the cinnamon roll, his personal story line is largely him overcoming his fear of dogs, he’s tiny, he’s cute, he’s constantly got chocolate on his face, and the most evil thing he does is throw hay in a girl’s face - but he’s also a really good example of a True Neutral character. Everyone else goes through some evil to good transformation but Carlos stays completely the same - it’s just that his circle expanded to include another person (and one dog).
