There's your feeling I once had, years ago, when a friend said a thing about me that equated to I matter to them, to their life. I haven't felt like I mattered to them, or most people in my life since then. I thought I would get that feeling from receiving praise. Nope. Didn't work.

I liked that feeling. I hope I get to experience it again soon
