Mikimoto vintage pearl necklace

An original 1959 Mikimoto cultured Akoya pearl necklace. This beautiful 45cm (17.75 inch) necklace is made from 99 3.5-7.3mm perfectly round white Akoya pearls with a thick nacre, shining luster and a rose overtone.

The necklace is complete with its original Mikimoto silk pouch, guarantee booklet and box. The pearls were sold by Lake Crawfords in Hong Kong on the 11th November 1959.

The pearls have been cleaned and newly restrung in the original manner onto double threaded white silk, with knots placed only between the end three pearls. These Mikimoto pearls are a true classic and are highly prized.

Vintage Cultured Akoya Pearls

I have started a range of reconditioned vintage cultured Akoya pearl necklaces. For these necklaces the clasp and the pearls are carefully cleaned and the necklace is restrung on new silk thread: Vintage pearls often have a build up of dirt and grease between the pearls, the silk stringing becomes stretched, it is sometimes broken, and the thread can be quiet dirty.

Reconditioning the pearls makes a beautiful necklace feel like new again.

Stunning Australian South Sea pearl drops

Soon I will be making up some Australian South Sea pearl pendants. The pearls range from 12 to 15mm. The pearls are drop shaped, AA++ quality, with only minor imperfections to the rear.

These will be stunning pendants for very good prices, you will not be able to find South Sea pendants this beautiful and big anywhere else. Look at this beauty - 15.2x16.3mm radiant and ready to set with an 18ct gold and diamond bail.

Others can be matched into pairs for unbelievable earrings...I will post them when finished.

Metallic nucleated freshwater pearls: fireballs and drops

I often receive complements on my metallic drop pearl pendant that can be seen in a post from back in 2015.

I managed to find another supplier of these stunning fireball pearls, I looked through a tub of these and hand picked out the most lustrous and well shaped pearls. The large one at the top is 19x28mm!

I found five these will be mounted with bails and listed as soon as I can....

I also found a couple of pairs of nucleated drop pearls ideal for stunning earrings. The bottom pair (12x13mm) have the most pleasing bright overtones.

White freshwater pearl strands and drops

Classic white pearls for necklaces and earrings. The smaller pearl strand are 6-6.5mm and the larger are 10-11mm.

Tahitian strands for necklaces

In Hong Kong this June I bought some lovely Tahitian pearl strands, perfect for either necklaces or bracelets. Pearls are perfectly rounds and range in size from 9-11mm, all the colours are natural, and I have stands with different overtones.

Those below are blue (AA++ 9.8-11.8mm, outside) silver-peacock (AA++ 9.1-11mm, middle) and green (AA+ 8.9-11mm, inside, short strand)

South Sea pearl stud earrings

I wanted to find some 9-10mm South Sea pearls to make earrings. One of my suppliers allowed me to sort through two large bags of Indonesia pearls, looking for pearls that I could match into pairs. I bought some darker golden pearls with either pink or green overtones, some pale golden/champagne pearls, and some white pearls with either cream, pink or silver overtones.

I think the resulting pairs of pearls are spectacular.

Tahitian keshi pearls

I received an enquiry just before I flew out to Hong Kong - a lovely lady with a rare Tahitian keshi pearl necklace was looking for some earrings to match. I went off to search these out. A few sellers had some Tahitian keshis, but only one seller I spoke to allowed me to hand pick out pairs of 8-11mm pearls that could be made into earrings. I selected the 7 pairs below.....

Tahitian round pearls

Please check out the colour of these stunning Tahitian pearls. They are AAA quality, perfectly round and have the most wonderful colours. The top pair is 10-11mm, the others 9-10mm. The blue pair at the bottom and pinky grey pair, second from top, are very unusual colours.

I bought just a few beautiful strands of Tahitian pearls. These will make just delicious necklaces. Look at the wonderful peacock overtones of this round 10-12mm strand.

South Sea pearl necklaces and pendants

I visited my favourite supplier in Hong Kong for South Sea pearls. They have some beautiful strands to make up into necklaces,

and then loose pearls that will be pendants...these are 13mm,

and this beauty is 15mm! I have a selection of 9 carat and 18 carat white or yellow gold bails to mount these pearls on.
