@islafoxx
dianaxsummers:
âOf course I am.â he laughed. He reached behind her head and pulled back a small plastic bag. âSnow White for my Snow Whiteâ
âIâm feeling more of a Cinderella and fairy godmother vibe.â Isla beamed, reaching up on her tip toes to kiss Bash on the cheek. She pinched the small bag between her index and forefinger. âWhere would you like to christen first?â
newkydd-ontheblock:
âIf you vouch for him darling heâs hired. Like I said there isnât a thing I could do about it anywayâ Sebastian said. Her next sentence surprised him. âYou want some of my grade A? And what do I get in return.?â
âDonât you forget it.â Isla reached up, bopping him on the nose as she smiled. His question made her roll her eyes. âSomething in return? Seriously? Youâre not just going to share?â
dianaxsummers:
âI love that ideaâ Sebastian answered as he watched her ,leaning against a wall. Sebastian walked toward her, taking her hand in his. He spun her playfully, âDarling even if I said I didâŠwould it even matter?â
Isla laughed as he spun her, though her curiosity piqued at his behavior. Heâd been acting rather jumpy since sheâd slid into his car and she had a feeling it was drug related. âNo, it wouldnât. His name is Dominic and heâs a great bartender. Attractive too.â She straightened up, eyes scanning his face. âNow pony up. I know youâre holding and we need to christen our new business by doing a line off the bar.â
juburke:
âGuess weâll have to find out then, yeah?â His brows rose in merriment, blinking a few times quickly as if heâd lost their staring contest. Though, he did keep his contact to her face, dropping his eyes momentarily to glance at her lips as she spoke. Something about her tone had Jude thinking she wasnât just bullshitting with him - that this was something personal to her, but he decided to ignore it. âWow, that was a pretty good reference. Guess you might be deadly. Lucky for me, Iâm dangerous enough to find out.â He teased, keeping their distance very close, shrugging. ââCourse not. I was just asking if you judged the birthday suit portion of the pageant.â
âI guess we will.â He had an interesting eye color, she realized - not quite green, not quite blue. And there was something expressive about them, something easy to read. It seemed like the color switched each time his expression changed. âAttractive and brave. I canât believe I never came into this store before today.â Her tone was light, though the comment was genuine. She mustâve passed this convenience store a million times and had never come inside. âOf course. I like to be intimately involved with every step of the pageant process.â
juburke:
âI donât lose often,â He answered, green eyes staring, shining bright at their playful conversation. It was then when his smile disappeared just for a moment. âYeah, I donât usually worry âbout it. Their loss, right?â He chuckled, smile reappearing. âIsla? Thatâs actually really pretty of a name though. Youâve got a pretty name for a pretty girl - not dangerous sounding at all. Not like Jude. Like, come on â thatâs tough.â Jude joked, the tone of his voice sarcastic as he did so. âYou gonna judge it?â
âThen it sounds like youâre due for one, arenât you?â She refused to be the one to break their eye contact now - not when it was starting to feel like a genuine competition. âRight. And it could be worse,â Isla shrugged, her thoughts going back to her father. âThey couldâve gotten to know you and then decided they wanted nothing to do with you.â His compliment chased away any residual thoughts of her family. âHey, like you said before. Pretty and tough arenât mutually exclusive. Sometimes the prettiest flowers are the deadliest ones, you know.â She tilted her head, growing more and more intrigued. âAre you inviting me to see you naked, Jude? What kind of girl do you think I am?â
newkydd-ontheblock:
âSo? What do you think?â Bash said as he lead Isla into the empty building. He had already started contracting so walls, stages, bars, and poles were already set up. âI know it some work still but I figured we can at least start some hiring interviews? Picture a few tables hereâŠ.oh and a booths over there. Dj is going to go up on that wall above everyoneâŠ.â Blue orbs darted around, a bright smile on his face. âI was thinking naming it Seventh LevelâŠhas a ring to it right?â His voice was excited and to be honestâŠ.a bit on edge. He was even walking quicker than usual. Then again he had done a hit before he picked up Isla.
@islafoxÂ
Isla let her feet carry her around the room, silent as she took everything in. Everything about the place screamed âsuccessful business venture,â and yet she still felt anxiety bubbling in her gut. âItâs perfect,â she finally conceded. She turned to face the wall where one of the stages would be. âWe should set up some aerial artists on either side of this stage. Not stripping - but it would be classy and sexy as fuck, yâknow?â She ran her hand along the stage, letting ideas dance in her head. âI already have a bartender that I want to hire too, by the way. Itâs a nonnegotiable thing.â She turned to face Bash, raising an eyebrow at him. âGot a problem with that?â
marniewhy:
Marnie sighed in content, taking a long drink from her glass as she figured out where to start. A lot had happened, but she wasnât sure what piece of new took priority over the rest. â WellâŠÂ â she started, moving her glass back to her lips to drink some more before she spilled the news. â Iâve been working on some journalism stuff. Writing a few articles here and there for some blogs, and magazines. Nothing major, just small irrelevant stuff really, but still cool, I guess. â she shrugged, knocking back the rest of the wine quicker than necessary. â Oh, and I slept with Bash. Refill? â
Isla nodded in pride and approval as Marnie spoke. Of course her best friend had been fine - sheâd known she would be. While Isla had combatted a mental breakdown in Italy, Marnie had kept moving forward. âAny good magazines? Which blogs? I want print copies, URLs, the whole nine yards. Iâm going to put it all up on my fridge.â She took a long sip - and then nearly choked on it. âScusami?â She secured her grip on the other girlâs wrist, cementing them to the couch. âYou slept with Bash? Fucking Christ, Marnie. Seriously?â
juburke:
âThatâs the only way to play.â Jude replied in a second, not bothering to hide his interest in the brunette. âI wouldnât know - havenât seen my parents since, well - ever.â His shoulders lifted into a slight shrug before he continued. âBut I like to think the song. You know why?â He asked, brow raising. âBecause itâs about comforting someone whoâs in a really tough situation. I like to think that I can do that, maybe thatâs why they named me it.â Judeâs serious tone immediately turned into a grin, however. âDo they have a birthday suit portion?â
âMaybe if you like losing,â Isla quipped back. His next few words did little to slow her down. Sheâd had too much family drama in her own life to let it get to her anymore. âMaybe you dodged a bullet. Parents can be pretty shit - and occasionally unnecessary, Iâve found.â She watched him carefully while he talked her through his name, even more intrigued by his candor. âSounds like a pretty powerful name. Unfortunately, Isla - thatâs my name, Isla - doesnât have any cool connotations. Itâs just a river in Scotland. Itâs nice to say though.â She couldnât help the smirk that curled on her lips at his next comment. âIf they didnât before, they do now.â
juburke:
âOf course not. You can be both pretty and tough â look at Ruby Rose. I think youâre just all talk, though.â Jude teased, his job currently on the back-burner since his attention was drawn to the girl in front of him. âDid I ever tell you my name? Itâs Jude.â He stated plainly, his fingers pinching at the top of his shirt where his name tag lay. âIâm pretty? Really - Think I could win a beauty pageant?â
âUnderestimating me already? Thatâs a dangerous game.â The candy Isla had come into the store for was already forgotten, replaced with a new compulsion. Her eyes flickered to his name tag. âJude, hm? The Beatles song or the Apostle?â She withheld her name for the moment. Sheâd give it to him, of course, but she was enjoying their banter. âIâm not sure. I donât think I can cast my vote until after Iâve seen the swimsuit portion.â
juburke:
Jude watched in amusement as she spoke, her tone never wavering and her confidence unmatched. He was truly impressed, and slightly attracted to the woman in front of him. âPretty tough? I donât know - I mean, definitely pretty.â He added, letting out a chuckle of defeat at her next comment. âYouâre right. Donât want to beat up the helpless.â
âAre you insinuating that I canât be both pretty and tough? Because, if so, weâre gonna have to take this outside and Iâll have to actually leave a bruise on that nice little jawline of yours.â She adopted her best threatening stare ( which, in her current flirtatious state, wasnât very threatening ). âWhich would be a pity, really. Since youâre rather pretty yourself.â
dominic--cross:
âFunny â I was going to take a nap in the back room but decided I wouldnât ditch you. But I really should have, since you pretty much did leave me alone all weekend,â he held up his shot glass with a smile, obviously kidding. Dominic was content they had another successful night working together that didnât include burning the place down. âCheers,â he took his shot. âNext?â he wondered if it was going to be that kind of night. There was only less than two hours until sunrise. âHow was that trip anyhow? Did anything eventful happen?âÂ
âYou shouldâve come on the retreat! I told you that you should.â Isla rolled her eyes. Maybe the trip would have been more exciting had Dominic tagged along. As it was, sheâd really only spent the weekend getting drunk and wandering around. âNext!â She agreed, pouring them another round of shots. What was the point of quitting now? The sun wasnât even up yet. âOh, I donât know. It was mostly just a lot of snow and drinking yourself warm. Some girl went missing. Nobody I knew personally, but it was my cousinâs roommate. They found her though.â
russell-rodgers:
â Youâre welcome.â He liked this about them how they would talk for hours. â No it would not. She doesnât judge. She would love you. But you donât have to meet her. My parents know about everything Isla. They already know about you and us. Itâs not a secret. I talk to my parents every day. My mom even facetimes.âÂ
âThey know everything?â Isla laughed, sitting up slightly to get a closer look at Russell. She held a hand up as if it would physically slow down the situation. âSo you told your mother that youâre fucking a 23 year old? Your mother?â
juburke:
Jude watched as the brunette girl in front of him subtly eyed him up. Although he assumed she was just playing along, he had a feeling that she would have known the answer without having to look along his entire body. âYou think you can give me a black eye? I dunno about that - I always think if youâve got a black eye, youâve lost. Therefore, I donât really believe you.â He stated, his eyes never leaving herâs.
âOh, I could totally give you a black eye.â Isla smiled, nodding along confidently. âIâd say Iâm tougher than I look, but I think I look pretty tough.â She matched his level of eye contact, not looking away as she spoke. âYou can get a black eye and still win the fight. I mean, the other guyâs gotta get a hit or two in. Otherwise you look like you beat the shit out of some dude who couldnât take it.â
juburke:
âWhen the girl in front of him leaned forward and began whispering, Jude leaned in closer as well as if they were in on some big secret. His eyes widened just a bit before he laughed from deep in his throat. âYouâre crazy. Look at me. Do I look like someone people would ever be afraid of?â He asked with a serious tone in his voice but a playful smirk on his lips.
âHm.â Isla paused, dragging her gaze up and down his form as if seriously assessing his threat level ( a perfect opportunity to not-so-subtly check him out ). âI could give you a nice little black eye, if youâd like?â She quirked an eyebrow, obviously kidding. âPeople always seem more menacing with a few bruises or a busted lip.â
russell-rodgers:
â She still scares me âtill this day.â That was something he never said out loud. Russell played with her hair,â Yeah. Maybe the next time I see them you can meet them. You would love them. My mom is one of them old ladies that says whats her mind at all times. And my dad has a dry sense of humor.âÂ
âThank you for telling me. Iâm sorry that youâve held onto this for so long.â Isla reached for his hand, tangling their fingers together and pressing her lips to his knuckles. âWouldnât that - uh. Wouldnât that be horrifically awkward?â Isla shifted, uncomfortable at the thought. âIt doesnât seem like âold woman who says whatâs on her mindâ and âson whoâs sleeping with someone younger than their granddaughterâ would mix very well...â
