plein air sketching from last Saturday 04/25/2026
I wasn’t planning on drawing but I saw another artist at the same café where I was setting up his plein air sketchbook and i just decided to do it too. I did this sketch in more or less than an hour. I did a warm-up sketch before I did this (see below).

day 4 & 5 of painting from life
my partner saw these dried peppers in our kitchen and thought that it would make a great painting. this is the best i can do with this in a postcard size canvas. I thought it was fun and fitting to paint with the philippine weather rn.
Worked a little more on this mangosteen painting today.
I’ve been away for more than a week. I was at the hospital last week for 7 days helping and supporting my partner while he gets his treatment for Miller Fisher syndrome. I needed a couple of days to get back on track. Now I’m back! and daily painting from life resumes tomorrow. ♡
Day 3 of painting from life.
This one didn’t go so well. I might let it dry before working on it again.
day 2 painting from life
Day 1 of daily painting from life
This has been something that I wanted to do consistently for a long time. I’m working on a good momentum I had from the first quarter of the year and I wanted to build mileage on my skills so now I’m gonna try and stick to it.

january still life studies
This is what I’ve been up to this past month.
I’ve been away awhile now. I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since my last upload here. I have done a lot yet I haven’t accomplished anything.
Time is flying faster and all i do now is just try to show up & play catch up with everything, though, I got the ball rolling faster now than it used to.
“And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”
-Rainer Maria Rilke
I have renewed excitement. New ideas and projects are pouring in as a result of learning a lot of things since the beginning of the year. There’s a lot more to learn, and I’m just excited and hopeful.

weekend stroll at Escolta
This week was a slog. It was hot in the studio. Even during overcast days which makes it hard to focus at a constant. Listening to The Count of Monte Cristo while drawing was very helpful in getting in the zone. I hope next week's painting & drawing in the studio will be with better ease. 🤎💚
