Armageddon is one of the few DVDs I didn’t sell because Ben Affleck on the commentary track is relentless. Below is the clip of the commentary from where this tidbit of trivia came from. Please take a moment to witness the magic.
Wow, this is pure gold 😍😍😍
Sage advice. 🙏🏼
and as I’m already seeing the “oh my god England why would you do this” posts from non-Brits, please know these things before you start being judgey:
Vote Leave won by a majority of 2%, and fewer than a million votes could have swung it the other way
Over 70% of young people wanted to remain, as opposed to 60% of older voters wanting to leave
The Tory government were elected with the support of only 24% of eligible voters in 2015
our government is, in all honesty, a shambles
give tumblr’s demographics, chances are your British followers reading your posts are not the ones who voted leave, and we are watching our economy and future prospects crash around us
please don’t be arseholes about it and mock the decisions that we did not make
Yes. Good. (via)
the general gist of #brexit
the uk has voted to leave the european union for a lot of reasons but the main being xenophobia and immigration laws against refuges
the uk has been governed by the european union up until now – because they don’t have their own constitution or bill of rights or anything of the sort, they’ve been dependent on the EU for guidance
by leaving, the uk is no longer under any trade laws, union agreements, any sort of legislation or statue or agreement which is just…yikes
the pound has dropped to its lowest value in over 35 years and the world economy is in flux by the upset
scotland voted to remain in the EU so like yikes part two
basically: @britian wyd
Some of the information above is WRONG! The campaign has been based on misinformation and I do not want to see that continue.
The UK has not been governed by the EU. The EU can issue regulations and directives for its member states. Regulations are legal acts from the EU that become immediately enforceable in all of the Member States at the same time. Directives require Member States to achieve a particular result without dictating the means of achieving that result. A large part of the Leave Campaign has been based on the fact that people want to make Britain independent from the EU authority, but you know what, the laws we had to implement - including the regulations we didn’t have a choice in - actually improved the rights of ordinary people in all countries. The important thing to remember is that we elect members of a European Parliament in the same way we elect MPs in Britain - an entirely democratic exercise and one that has given some of our most important rights including workers’ right, maternity leave, etc. This is a very simplified explanation - I’m a law graduate and had the displeasure of learning the ins and outs of EU law on my degree, despite how dull it is, it’s incredibly important!
That being said, Britain does of course have its own trade laws, union agreements etc. otherwise the Brexit would have been even more suicidal than it already it (if that’s possible). If we didn’t have these kinds of laws the nation truly would be in a state of chaos and potentially couldn’t function. What we will need to renegotiate as the exit process takes place are trade agreements with countries and blocs - like the EU itself - that we traded with when we were a Member.
Additionally, there have been calls for a unified Ireland - currently the countries are separated into the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, the latter which is part of Britain and voted in the referendum. Northern Ireland voted out like Scotland, and internet searches show that people from NI have been searching for how to apply for a Irish passport - since they have the right to hold an Irish or a British passport - which will still be included in the EU.
Finally, our Prime Minister has stated he will resign and that we will have a new PM by October. We have three months before that therefore, but the announcement came this morning and added to even more instability.
These are just some of the main corrections and points, there are obviously so many more. On the whole, Britain has really screwed itself and most young people feel genuinely betrayed.
Congrats if you made it to the bottom of this post, I know it’s been long.
Nigal Farage: One of the biggest dickheads to ever walk the Earth.
“Without a bullet being fired” - Tell that to Jo Cox and her family.
“Can’t promise the NHS will get the money.” - After the £350 million a week was promised to be spent on the NHS.
Seeing white men from the UK boast about the win to leave the EU while an info graphic of the British pound taking a nose dive is the most hilariously ironic and disturbing thing I’ve seen in such a long time. It’s like they don’t care about their country as long as they can keep it white.
no offence but the value of the GBP has dropped in the most significant way since Black Wednesday in 1992. Nicola Sturgeon says that Scotland see their future as a part of the EU, meaning there may well be yet another referendum about Scotland leaving the UK. Sinn Fein says that Britain leaving the EU intensifies the need for a vote on a United Ireland. This country is literally going to tear itself a part, which we were warned about but the people that voted leave don’t give a fuck because at least they can protect their borders now.
way to go uk
Dear European followers,
Please know I didn’t want to leave you, okay?
Sincerely, A Brit who is genuinely worried for her future.
person: oh hey what's new?
me: well the racist old people in the UK voted to leave the EU, and now the future of this generation is perhaps doomed to live in a depression that may be as severe as the 1929+ america. this'll result in raised prices in imported goods, making it hard for the less fortunate people to buy food. other countries may stop buying our exported goods, from the little trading we have, because the tariffs will increase heavily. this will cause many unemployed and less income into the UK government. hello tax raise! so just the usual, how about you?
in case anyone still had doubts what Leave was really about
