Lucas was relieved when the door finally opened, a giddy Mauve welcoming him into the house. He stepped through the familiar doorway, brief flashes of drunken memories flooding his mind. Greeting Mauve with a compliment and a light kiss on the cheek, Lucas followed the girl through various rooms, making small talk with the model. Their arrival in the living room sparked muffled giggles and tensed glances as Lucas said hello to those he was familiar with, his eyes searching the room for the one girl he was really interested in seeing.
A small smirk settled on his lips as Lucas’ eyes met Anna’s, the girl looking smaller than he imagined, engulfed by countless blankets and pillows. She was so innocent, so different from the girls that he normally found on the other side of his bed in the morning, yet he was somehow drawn to her. She was a challenge, that Lucas already knew, and he was more than willing to step up to the plate, because after all, Lucas de Souza never lost.
“Am I allowed to steal the lovely Anna for the night?” Lucas asked, a bemused smile on his lips as he addressed the larger group, although his gaze remained trained on Anna. His question wasn’t really a question, because he was only going to accept one answer. “Give you a break from guarding the tree 24 hours a day, and everything.”
