Housing 650 pairs of rare, vintage, deadstock, re-issues and collaboration styles from the personal collections of numerous adidas collectors. 011 - Togs & Clogs Press Day
I recently got chance to go and have a look around a Press Event where Togs & Clogs previewed there top brands. The event was held in the Northern Lights Agency based in the heart of Manchester. I was really nice to see the latest collections from such brands as Armor-lux, Farah Vintage and a highlight for me was seeing the latest Togs % Clogs / Grenson G-Lab. You can see a nice little video Hypebeast put together here - http://hypebeast.com/2013/8/process-crafting-the-togs-clogs-x-grenson-g-lab-archie
Also featured was the latest collaboration with Armor-lux and Nigel Cabourn. Using the Original breton stripe, Nigel has worked alongside Armor-lux to create a trademark Cabourn heritage feel garment.
I also caught up with JP from Togs & Clogs and got his thoughts on the event and the brands featured.
'Northern Lights Agency was formed 10 years ago by Len Hamilton and Nigel Eley, who met whilst working in the Fashion industry; where both had started off gaining valuable experience in retail, then subsequently became Buyers for Size and Flannels respectively. They were two of the first people to bring Original Penguin in to the UK, which to this day is a brand that they sell to retailers in the North of England. The agency now has a wide range of Brands within its portfolio, from very commercially established brands like Original Penguin, Farah Vintage and Humor to niche or more premium tiered brands Like Armor-lux, Marshall Artist, Anerkjendt, Ransom and Maians Footwear and this reflects the mix of their commercial understanding of the industry, with their personal love of fashion, design, quality of product and their own refined tastes.
2 years ago Len and Nigel, along with Tom Summerfield who worked as a Sales Agent at Northern Lights, decided to set up an online Menswear and Lifestyle retailers called Togs + Clogs ( www.togsandclogs.com ), believing that their was a bit of an niche in the Market to combine the two sectors and allow guys like themselves or people they knew, to buy everything they wanted under one roof so to speak, and again using the combination of their industry experience and wider interests, along with Tom’s understanding of web development and social media platforms to help drive such a business. Over the last two years much of Togs + Clogs evolution has been organic, and everything from the buying, to photographing products and packing boxes is done in house. Creatively they have a very small team of like minded individuals and have found that this has worked well, and hopefully the collection of personalities and enjoyment they have working on creative projects such as the on-line look books is evident and in part gives the site its own personality and identity that makes it a little different from its competitors. So that’s the two established sides to the business, but there are also plans to become distributors as well as sales agents of some of the brands in the Agency Portfolio, so watch this space! I suppose the point of the press day apart from to gain some PR for both parts of the business, was to allow people who may be interested in any part what the guys do, to come and see this from their own point of view, ask questions about the guys experience of the Fashion Industry and learn about a side of it that many people don’t even know exists. Also, aside from what goes on here, we thought that from a bloggers point of view, being able to have access to clothing collections that wont hit the shops for another six months, and the space that this happens in is pretty cool… Although you are probably better off commenting on that.' http://www.togsandclogs.com http://www.northernlightsagency.co.uk

007 - Paris Snaps: February 2013
Spent some time in Paris over the last few days. Having been there last summer it was nice to see it in a totally different light, snow and rain! We stayed in a very small and very Parisien apartment only 5 minutes from the Pompidou which was a great location. Plenty of small restaurants, cafes and shops near by to peruse. There's nothing more satisfying that getting caught up in the narrow streets and stumbling upon hidden gems.
006 - Fuji X100
After watching countless reviews of the Fuji X100 I finally got my hands on one. I was looking for a camera I could just have in my bag wherever I go. Something light and compact. This is exactly that. Here are some first shots taken with the Fuji X100.
005 - Southern Field Industries Waxed Rucksack
The Waxed Rucksack, another great product from Southern Field Industries. With just under a year worth of use the rucksack is holding up nicely. With the rucksack being used everyday the leather has worn nicely and has become even more comfortable. Here are some of the rucksacks great features- - Waxed Cotton Outer Body (from British Millerain) - Waxed Canvas Lining - Solid Brass Hardware - Vegetable Tanned Cow Leather - Boots Lace Drawstring Cord - YKK "Excella" Zipper - Exterior Front Flap Pocket - Exterior Quick Access Zip Pocket - Adjustable Full Leather Strap - All Handmade in Saitama, Japan I caught up with Manadu from Southern Field Industries and here's what he had to say about there Waxed Rucksack. "Looking back in 2009, there was the opportunity to make 'Waxed Rucksack'. A waxed cotton fabric has been famous as the Barbour jacket in Japan, but It's not easy to find theme in Japanese fabric industrial market more than now. I'd been wanted to make something special for our product which uses such a beautiful, unique and heritage fabric just like my favorite Barbour jacket. I had a chance to know the British Millerain in 2009. And I was surprise to know they having the dealer in Tokyo. Of course I've contacted with them soon and finally bought British Millerain's waxed cotton. It was really difficult to create the rucksack which utilized the character of waxed cotton fabric. This fabric is really tough in handling on our production stages, actually. We need lots of care and patience in the process of Waxed Rucksack. We've been repeating some slightly changes for Waxed Rucksack from the first production, as same as the other SFI's products. The new Rucksack has been updated is a truly great one, it's must be the best rucksack ever! We hope so many people will like it!" Manabu Okada / Founder SOUTHERN FIELD INDUSTRIES For more Southern Field Industry products see the links below. http://southernfieldstore.com/ http://southernfieldstore.com/products/waxed-rucksack-dark-navy
004 - Engineered Garments 6 years wear

003 - SFI Flap Wallet
There are only a hand full of things that go everywhere with me. And this is one. SFI Flip Wallet. The perfect sized wallet to slip into your back pocket, not to bulky, just right. I have been using this for just over 5 months now. Complete with denim bleed and marks inside it just gets better and better with use. Handmade in Saitama, Japan from the finest material available. You can see some lovely shots for the SFI team working on there product in the workshop here - http://www.southernfieldindustries.com/ Manabu from SFI told me a bit about the craftsmanship and design behind there Flap Wallet.
"Our Flap Wallet was originaly made for myself, I needed a wallet that was extremely simple but beautiful, a one pocket wallet. I wanted to produce something that was simple and unique. So I decided to make one by hand stitching with a artificial sinew thread. And I stitched it just like the way of stitching for moccasin. Our Flap Wallet is constructed with only 3 squared panels. Stud wallet has just only two squared panels. I love both wallets, especially the Flap Wallet as it is so useful and uniquely designed."

002 - Marrkt.com
This is the latest offering from the guys behind Superdenim. Marrkt is essentially a site that takes over stock and samples from top brands. Their first sale will be cabourn SS12 deadstock that they have been privileged enough to get access to, and offering it at heavily reduced prices for a limited time through the Marrkt site. The site will be holding regular sales from the better brands of deadstock and samples. Here's what Lewis had to say about it. "It's our new store basically alleviating brands of stock they have found themselves stuck with. As you can imagine in uncertain times, brands can unwittingly end up with stock form cancelled orders, bankrupt stores etc. So I have set up Marrkt to step in and take that stock and offer it at a discounted rate. We did quite a few of the Cabourn sales within superdenim over the past two years, but I'd now like to bring to concept into its own place. We have over 450 items of Cabourn from SS12 stock, samples that never made production and bit from seasons gone by. All summer season stock this time round. We will be working with other brands too, of a certain ilk, to do the same. We will then keep you updated as to when the next sales will be."
