This was today’s mess that I walked into. Not sure how the ports got pulled out of the cubicle wall but they did. We have PoE phones so the first indication something was wrong was the fact that the phone wasn’t on. After replacing the wires and finagling win the wires that were punched down, I got it working.

My Raspberry Pi running Kodi. The video quality was a lot better than I expected. I was impressed. I was a little disappointed the AMC stream didn't quite work as it should have. I'll have to check back tomorrow.

The Future Is Finally Here: The Hoverboard.

Built and flown by Catalin Alexandru Duru, the board is controlled by only the movement of the pilots feet and is believed to be a viable transport method in the not too distant future. 

New plans for prototypes are underway, flying up to 1.5 meters above the ground with definite hopes of eventually creating a market to sell these hoverboards.

Catalin Alexandru Duru has achieved the farthest hoverboard flight ever, with a total of 275.9 m.

Had to figure out why the back up connection didn't kick in when the main connection went down. For starters I rebooted the router....that did the trick. They need to check to see if the configuration is correct.

Today's IT prob. Get info off of old hard drive. One problem though. I didn't have an IDE/SATA connector. We'll revisit this issue on Wednesday.

Quarter Century Old Watch of the Future is Surprisingly Accurate

Predictions of future tech usually involve shiny metal and miniaturization. Both noble guesses to be sure, but what the predictions are usually short on is any kind of accuracy. The Paleo-Future blog has dug up an eerily accurate vision of today’s technology. The ‘pop out aerials’ are 100% MacGyver but the display and push buttons are spot on.

The pictures come from the 1979 book ‘Future Cities: Homes and Living into the 21st Century’, and the author even makes a stab at the networks behind the “Risto” watch.

Past predictions about technology can be uncannily accurate. Pew Research Center’s Fact Tank blogger Drew DeSilver found this out first-hand when he dug into a 1982 report from a Silicon Valley think tank called the Institute for the Future. His post, 32 years ago, experts foresaw much of today’s digital world, looks at just how much the report’s authors got right.
