You don't think fi/ennel is problematic? It's winterkov and finnfern but maybe worse because they're both humans with probably the same genes who look identical, while the others don't/don't share probable parents. wtf

? this is quite a funny ask because i honestly interpret this the opposite way. win//terkov is literally just shipping a guy with himself and fin//nfern is like... a guy and his clone/identical twins. in both cases both do essentially share the same genes and parents. and that's why i dont ship either of them.

we don't have confirmation that fionna and fennel are related. from context clues they most likely aren't. in fact, they barely know each other. they are strangers who look similar. so it really isn't so problematic. fennel is her own person. i just don't ship them because ... i don't. and that's fine.

not sure if this ask is trying to be ragebait or something. it's not really working. feel free to unfollow if you don't agree with me. we all have better things to do than argue over this.

ok! my thoughts on the season so far to actually answer anon! spoiler warning! kinda random/scattered about a bunch of different things!

i really like it!!!! i think the season as a whole so far has been pretty good! maybe a bit weaker technically than the first season but only because i think the first season had way less going on whereas this season is jam-packed full of different stuff and a more linear story just appeals to me more personally. i think they couldve been a bit more selective with what they focused on but i still really jive with it.

if im going to be bold i think a lot of the hatred for this season that i've seen (mostly on twitter/thru hearsay) boils down to pure misogyny and misunderstanding of this show's themes and symbolism because i genuinely do not think this season is bad at all. there isnt a single episode id call bad in its entirety although theres been moments that i disliked more than others (like the second half episode 7). people say there's not a lot of action - well that's the point. fionnaworld isnt ooo. fionna isn't finn. i wish this got thru more people's heads; the show literally beats you with this concept. theres a lot of interesting symbolism and parallels between characters that the writers use here too that i'm having a lot of fun dissecting with my friends! also people complain that fionna is a mess - did we all miss the part where fionna has been in a constant state of arrested development her whole life up until extremely recently?? of course she's a mess!!!

i like the adult language but only when the fionnaworld chars use it and not chars like huntress... it doesn't break the bank for me or anything but i rlly loved the main series because even tho it was a form of censorship, the nonsense words they made up genuinely felt a part of the world (esp considering its post-apocalyptic) and having huntress suddenly say "shit!" can sometimes jolt me out of a scene for like 5 seconds LOL

i miss donald glover as marshall (crying emoji) but i rlly like his new va too. he does a rlly good job. also im rlly glad they gave prismo's temporary va from season 1 another role in this season :)

im rlly happy they had farmworld finn in an ep i like him :)

to turn my attention more towards fern/fennel:

i LOVE fennel. the first half ep 7 where her and fionna get super high is like my favorite part of the season, it honestly felt more fanservicey and satisfying to me than actually seeing fern because their dynamic there was something that i was missing like crazy. it's fun seeing fennel being technically more "put together" than fionna and having their roles essentially be switched (up until flame cheats on her).

seeing fern was really nice and im glad that the writers kind of gave him proper closure. although i think it still doesn't make up completely for how terribly his arc was handled in the main series i think its nice for them to finally acknowledge this and do something about it. i think ill always be a bit bitter about it though so i can't say that i think it was done perfectly or anything because the bitterness kinda taints it for me slightly. but i'm happy he's happy now! it's really sweet btw that he looks over finn thru his memory orb things.. sigh

im rlly looking forward to the final few episodes :) it's really fun to see so much fern shit again hahahaha.. many new screenshots to add to my collection
