Watercolour gallery
As a memory aide, I am posting a series of images of watercolour paintings that I am exhibiting throughout February in Nottinghamshire at a wonderful Nature Centre on a nature reserve I have lived close to for three decades. I will add these images over several posts as there are a number. All my paintings are for sale and are priced very reasonably, unmounted paintings are in the region of £20…

I thought I would update the blog with some later paintings showing how I spend my time!! It’s a joy and a frustration but I now have to own up to an obsession with new paints!! Artist paints are like jewels…I used obsession over precious stones but now it’s little palettes of paint!! These have been painted over the winter…now to start some Spring inspired fellas! It's Autumn in UK! More time for painting then.
Painting my way into happiness!
What to do when the weather turns and I start to want to hibernate even more than my usual state of hermitude- if that is a word. Paint! Painting turns everything into a challenge – a frustration, and a joy. I have lots of inspiration from photographs taken by myself and my husband, mainly in Scotland where we love to spend time in the Western Highlands, – but there is so much to explore in the…

Capturing Scottish Highlands and Local Nature through Watercolour Paintings
Join me in my watercolour adventures, and why not have a go yourself!
River walk Seagull Island, nr Kinlochleven, Scotland Misty morning at Glen Affric Glen Affric View from the Quiraing, Isle of Skye I’ve been busy making memories and this platform is a great method of keeping a diary of my watercolour adventures – the paintings may end up anywhere but I still have a record! Most of them will be archived and stored I would guess, but I am considering getting…
Paint adventures
Every day I want to paint… but sometimes I don’t manage it. I don’t lack the time because life has slowed down now my partner has retired too – no more peripatetic living, dashing from one county to the other. That is an adjustment , as is the ageing process! Painting ticks lots of boxes for me – it demands attention, a little planning ( so not my forte) , a little brain juice and lots of…

Watercolour adventures!
A foray into watercolour gives me a new interest
It’s been some time hasn’t it since I posted on here – life gets in the way and somehow I have lost a little energy – and I never had very much to spend anyway. It is a lifelong learning this business of being in the world . Recently I have thrown myself down a rabbit hole of learning the fascinating process of watercolours. I have needed something to distract me from the challenges of family…

Sorted!
https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1024278074/handmade-artist-book-of-quotation-and It is here! It took me so me time to complete this latest addition to my Etsy range of my handmade books, and it has been a lovely project to do. I showed some of my thinking in my last post, but now I can share some of the finished design. What was most difficult was deciding what to leave out! Having spent a lot…

How to survive Abibliophobia
How to survive Abibliophobia
I have another prompt from a lovely returning customer who wants a book created around the theme of a word – abibliophobia – and thus my work is cut out. The term of course, is somewhat contentious since there appears to be very little possibility of ever running out of reading material since the arrival of the brave new world of the internet. The proliferation of reading material rather creates…

In memory of Virginia Woolf
In memory of Virginia Woolf
Today is the day Virginia Woolf’s novel ‘To The Lighthouse’ was published in 1927 – a truly remarkable feat. No one has nailed the writing about the experience of being human quite as luminously as Virginia Woolf. I think about her as a person, and not simply as writer on a regular basis. She appears beside me as I fall headlong into a depression and she is there as I reappear. To the LIghthouse…
