It rankled him to no end, to see Tyler laying there and just making himself even more at home on the dock, despite Hudson making it clear he wasnât welcome there. Yes, they were public docks and anyone could come and go as they pleased, he didnât own the area⊠But couldnât the kid go lay around some other personâs boat? He felt since he paid to permanently dock in this spot, it should mean this entire area of space his measly home took up, should count as his property. âIâd prefer if you donât come down here,â Hudson told the younger man, in no mood to tolerate his whimsical behavior today. Or any other day, really. He was just too fluffy and sunshine to tolerate, honestly. He needed to get himself a friend that was just as bright and nice as he was. That wasnât Hudson. That was far away and unwilling to come near Hudson. âI donât think a damn one of you are on my side for anything,â he told the other, flat out. âAnd I donât need some bullshit spiel from you about how Iâm wrong and youâre differentâ I donât want to hear it, Tyler. Itâs not going to change how I feel, and it hasnât in all the time youâve known me already, so Iâd appreciate if you would knock this crap off. All it does is piss me off more. None of this is cute or appreciated.â This behavior of Hudsonâs wasnât directed just at Tyler, it included the entire town, too. He didnât like any of them. He liked the ones that refused to listen to him and what he wanted, even less. âPick up and go lay in front of that other boat,â Hudson directed the boy, gesturing to one that was at least two boats down. âMaybe that family wants your food.âÂ
Tyler sighed as he sat up on his elbows as he looked at Hudson. âYou havenât scared me off yet, Hudson.â Tyler said with a shrug, his smiling fading a little bit as he ran his eyes over Hudson before he shifted and sat up, crossing his legs. âAnd no matter what you say, Iâm going to keep coming down here and annoy your grumpy ass.â Tyler said as he shrugged and sighed again. Tyler pushed a hand through his hair a little, fluffing it up more. Tyler wasnât always happy go luck guy, but in recent years this attitude he adopted was enough to cover up everything else, all darkness he felt. âLook, I know I wasnât here for what happened all those years ago and I know the fall out was bad. Itâs anyone ever talked about.â Tyler said as he shrugged a little as he looked down at his shoes, moving his feet a little. âBut I know who you were in high school, I know what kind of guy you were back then.â Tyler said softly, he reached out and picked at the grass. âWe never ran in the same circle, I was in and out of school. But I always remember you as the guy with the smile. Goofing around with the football guys and the cheerleaders. Everyoneâs friends.â Tyler let the grass fall out of his hand as he looked back up to Hudson. âYou can keep telling yourself that this is some sort of spiel or bullshit. But Iâm not going to stop, as much as it pisses you off. Itâs not fair that the town just decided to turn their back on you, and itâs not right. Iâm on your side, as much as you hate it. So you are stuck with me.â Tyler said as he let his smile slide back on his face as he laid back down on grass. He turned his head and looked at the family Hudson pointed out. âThey donât look like sandwich people.â
