Ladies’ Brunch

Quinn couldn’t remember the last time she’d had a chance to go out to brunch that didn’t involve her family, or the one she looked after. She was excited to have an opportunity to catch up with Marley - this time in person, rather than just online or over the phone. Although she had gotten to see Marley’s performance along with Sam’s not long ago, it would be wonderful to just sit and reminisce. It wasn’t that Quinn had no social life– she stayed busy more often than not. However, when it came to good friends, that was still an area of her life that remained weakened. She considered Marley one of her closer ones, and she hoped this might lead to them spending more time together rather than just every now and then.
She had chosen one of her favorite little bistros in one of the quieter enclaves of Los Angeles. It was never too crowded, but the food was always delectable and the service unmatched. Truly a hidden gem just outside of Hollywood. Having arrived early, Quinn was browsing the menu indecisively as she heard footsteps approaching. This time it wasn’t their waiter, but Marley. “Marls! Over here,” she called out before rising to her feet to wave her friend over. There was a cool breeze in their air that made the sunshine enjoyable enough that she hoped Marley didn’t mind sitting outside. “Is this table okay?” she asked before leaning in for a hug. “It’s good to see you.”
Besides Mike, Marley had barely made time to see other people outside work, which was something she had to change. She had such great friends in her life, people she truly admired and appreciated, and her actions needed to reflect that. Having this brunch with Quinn arranged made her joyous, and it gave her something to look forward to during the week. Although she barely knew Quinn back when she lived in Lima, being her friend still felt like she was connected to her previous hometown in the best way possible.
Marley took an Uber to the place Quinn had suggested, walking up to the tables hoping to spot her friend. When she saw a blonde woman call her name and wave, she grinned, heading towards her waving friend. “Hey, yeah, it’s perfect!” She reciprocated the hug, squeezing her gently with her embrace. “It’s so good to see you.” Sitting down, she opened the menu already placed at her seat and began browsing. “I didn’t get to thank you properly for coming out to see us perform the other night. Things got so hectic, so I didn’t get to talk to everyone. Wasn’t Sam amazing too, though?”
