"Peaceful Space"
One day while leaving class from Glenn Hall I noticed a small pathway near one of the small bridges crossing over the Chico Creek that passes through the campus. As I walked along the pathway I realized that it was beginning to feel bit more relaxed. Which was an odd feeling considered that on the walk back from class I am usually surrounded by the hustle and bustle of other students.
Nature is usually seen as uncomfortable, usually full of bugs, dirty, and for any persons worst nightmare it is technology free. There is no plugs to keep electronics charged, there are no comfy couches or chairs to sit on. There are only rocks, leaves, dirt, a few bugs, maybe a bit of wind, the sun and or rain, and then theres you.
All that considered that is why this spot is my favorite space on Chico State’s campus. It allows me to be away from the rush of students and teachers alike hurying to get to class. It lets me free myself from having to worry about the latest tweet on twitter or a picture on instagram. I get to sit on the soft leaves surrounded by the woodsy smell of the earth and just relax and be free with my mind.
