Just shut the fuck up.
Walk with me on this journey. So one of my biggest issues in my life is that I’ve been labeled gay waaaaay before I even knew what sexuality was. All those microaggressions on how little boys are “supposed “ to act, I’ve heard since I was child and I also wasn’t your “average“ little boy. I was slapped with the gay title and that was that. So now that I’ve grown up and gained a lot of knowledge I now know that what my family did to me was absolutely heinous.
Below I’ve complied a list of how to not be an asshole.
1. DO NOT, assume a person(s) sexuality based off what you see. Don’t study their mannerisms or personality behaviors it’s creepy and in turn makes you look like an ass.
2. Again please DO NOT study a person(s) mannerisms or behaviors to help you make a choice on their sexuality, you’re making assumptions with zero proof and in turn makes you look like an ass.
3. Asking about someone’s sexuality behind their back or even asking their friends/family about their sexuality is rude and not in any way acceptable and in turn makes you look like and ass.
4. Wanting to know if someone is or isn’t gay is none of your business, your urge to know isn’t coming from a place of love, it’s coming from a place of spoiled curiosity, it’s also a complete invasion of privacy and you most likely want to know for your own personal reasons which in turn makes you look like an ass.
5. Do not build a case on how or why a person could be gay. You may think you’re putting two and two together to get your burning question answered but again you look like an ass trying to prove that someone is gay based off the information you’ve so poorly gathered.
6. Saying things like “can I ask you a personal question? Are you gay?” Is the most awkward and uncomfortable experience a person can go thru especially if they’re not sure on their own sexuality yet and infact may force the person to dodge the question or not answer it truthfully because being put on the spot isn’t fun and makes you the inquirer look like an ass.
7. If you see a person and instantly wonder if their gay and ask around to find out the answer because you just have to know is odd and again it’s invasive. Stop and think why do you need to know? What will you gain by getting this information and if that person is gay then what?. You look like an ass
8. Saying words or phrases like “flamboyant” , “non masculine” can be taken the wrong way and most likely will be taken the wrong way if that person isn’t comfortable with their sexuality and you know you look like as ass by doing so.
9. Don’t fish for answers by asking specific questions to dig into a persons personal life (i.e. past relationships, marital status) because it’s just plain weird. Don’t compare sexuality to something to bebe dealt with either, you can’t fix, adjust or alter a persons sexuality it’s theirs and theirs alone.
10. Understand that sexuality isn’t black and white and not everyone is always up for the conversation.
11. Don’t compare a person(s) sexuality to something that is relatable to you because it’s won’t be the same and it’s not the same. If someone talks about how homophobic slurs were used against them don’t compare that to anything your life. Example. I was called fag/gay by a few family members , and my fellow associate replied by saying she can relate because she was called a tomboy and added that she was also called “skinny”all the time and it made her feel bad. Not the same sis.
12. Assuming someone’s sexuality based on their looks is homophobic and it’s microaggressions like that, that make others feel judged and might in fact make them not want to ever open up at all, these demeaning comments are a common in everyday life and it makes it a little bit harder for them to feel comfortable because you may not be a bigot but your words ring with bigotry. Lastly, if anyone you know is dealing with their sexuality in a way where they’re trying to figure it out on their own just be supportive, and don’t put yourself in their shoes because it’s not about you its about them and all they need from you is understanding, be their safe place. Don’t give 101 reasons why you need to invade their personal business becuse you have a gay bestie or a gay family member, it doesn’t mean you know how to “handle it” also you come off looking like an ass.
And these, these are facts
Damn..that’s how 2 real niggas roast each other lol
Jack Daniels was created by a slave. Bourbon giant finally acknowledges the truth after 150 years.
The story told by the media for centuries appeared to be fake af.
The story went that Jack Daniels recipe was created by white moonshine distiller named Dan Call who passed it down to Jack Daniel.
Now the brand has revealed it was, in fact, one of Call’s slaves Nearis Green who taught the young Daniel how to distill.
Slaves made up the majority of men working in the distilling industry who were passing ancient African techniques down through the generations.
However, like so much else appropriated from enslaved African Americans - the distillery owners would take credit for their slaves’ whisky.
The fact that Green invented the original recipe has been known to local historians for decades but was only recently acknowledged by the whisky makers and the public.
Another example of what we call “appropriation”. In this case, I would call it “theft”.
I bet none of your friends really know the truth.
