Growing Up, Winchester
Dean x Daughter!Reader, Sam x Niece!Reader, Cas x Reader (platonic)
Age 1: First Words
Dean had always imagined that his daughterâs first words might be something like âDadâ or even âSam,â given how much time she spent with her uncle. Instead, her first word was something that made Dean laugh out loud with pride.
âCar!â she babbled one day, tugging at the tiny Impala toy Dean had given her. She said it again, louder this time, clapping her hands. Deanâs grin was unstoppable.
âAtta girl,â he said, scooping her up. âThatâs my girl! First words, and sheâs already on her way to appreciating Baby.â
Sam shook his head, chuckling. âYou know, most kids start with something a little more⊠typical.â
âTypical?â Dean repeated, feigning offense. âSheâs a Winchester. We donât do typical around here.â
Age 6: Losing Her First Tooth
Years later, Y/N came running to her dad, a bit of worry mingled with excitement on her face. She wiggled her bottom front tooth, which was barely holding on.
âItâs loose, Dad! Is it supposed to be like that?â she asked, her eyes wide.
Dean crouched down, inspecting her tooth like it was a top-level case. âLooks like you got your first loose tooth, kiddo. You know what this means?â
She nodded. âTooth fairy?â
Dean chuckled, ruffling her hair. âYou got it. But donât worry. Itâll fall out when itâs ready.â
Sure enough, a few days later, she lost it while eating pancakes Sam made. She raced over to show them, proudly holding the tiny tooth in her palm.
âWay to go!â Sam cheered. âGuess we better get ready for a visit from the tooth fairy tonight.â
That night, Dean tucked her in and, after she was fast asleep, slipped a dollar under her pillow, feeling a bittersweet pang of watching his little girl grow up.
Age 8: Watching Scooby-Doo with Dean
One of Deanâs favorite traditions was their Saturday morning Scooby-Doo marathons. The bunker was usually quiet then, and Y/N loved cuddling up with him on the couch to watch the cartoon.
Dean would tell her stories of âthe time they met the Scooby Gang for real,â and Y/N would gasp and beg for more details. Sheâd laugh whenever he did his Shaggy impression and loved how heâd always lean forward whenever there was a mystery to solve.
One day, she looked up at him, brow furrowed. âDad, do you think weâll ever hunt a ghost like that?â
Dean chuckled, ruffling her hair. âKid, weâve hunted things way scarier than Scooby-Doo ghosts. But who knows? Maybe weâll stumble across one of these guys someday.â
âI think Uncle Sammy would be Shaggy.â
âWhy?â Dean chuckled as he looked back at his daughter.
âHeâs tall.â
When the whole âScoobynaturalâ fiasco occurred, Y/N had just turned 17. Though she wasnât that 8 year old anymore, meeting the gang sure brought out her inner child. Especially when Fred kept flirting with her much to the dismay of Sam, Dean, and Cas
Age 10: Needing Stitches
Hunting was a dangerous life, and Y/N learned that sooner rather than later. One evening, while running around the bunker, she tripped and hit her leg on the edge of a table, cutting it deep enough that she needed stitches.
Sam got out the supplies, and Dean gently sat her down on the bed, but Y/N, panicked and crying, immediately started thrashing and trying to pull away. âNo! No needles!â she screamed.
âHey, hey, itâs okay,â Dean said, trying to calm her down, but her fear was too strong. Finally, he had to hold her arms down, while Sam gently but firmly held her leg steady to stitch it up. She cried the whole time, struggling against them.
Castiel, watching from the doorway, finally came over, placing a gentle hand on her head. âY/N, I promise, youâre safe. This is just a little pain, and it will pass soon. Your father and uncle wonât let anything happen to you.â
It seemed to help. She kept her eyes closed and whimpered as Sam finished the stitches, Dean gently patting her shoulder. When it was over, they all sat with her, comforting her until she was calm again.
Age 14: Explaining Gilmore Girls to Cas
When Y/N hit her teen years, her favorite show became Gilmore Girls. One evening, Castiel found her watching it in the bunkerâs library as she was singing along to the iconic Carole King theme song.
âWhat is this?â he asked, tilting his head with a curious expression.
âItâs Gilmore Girls,â she explained, smiling. âItâs about this mom and daughter and their lives in this small town.â Y/N pointed at the screen which showed a scene with Rory Gilmore and Dean Forester.
Cas watched for a moment before raising an eyebrow. âWhy does this character, Dean, look like Sam?â
Y/N couldnât help but laugh, trying to hold it in. âThatâs not Sam, Cas. Heâs just an actor.â
Castiel nodded, though he still looked slightly suspicious. âItâs uncanny. Are you sure heâs not an alternate version of Sam?â
Y/N patted his arm. âPositive, Cas. Trust me.â
Age 16: Caught Sneaking Out
Y/Nâs rebellious streak showed itself more and more as she grew older. One night, thinking she could sneak out without anyone noticing, she tiptoed toward the bunkerâs exit. Sheâd barely made it out the door when a voice cut through the darkness.
âY/N Winchester, get your butt back here,â Dean called, his tone brooking no argument.
Y/N froze, knowing sheâd been caught. Before she could even think of a way out, Dean was there, grabbing her around the waist and tossing her over his shoulder effortlessly. She protested, pounding on his back, but Dean only chuckled.
âYou think I donât know all the tricks? I invented them, sweetheart.â
He carried her all the way back to her room, setting her down with a warning look. âNo more sneaking out, you hear me?â
Y/N huffed but nodded, knowing she was caught fair and square. Dean softened, ruffling her hair. âNext time, just ask. Iâm not as scary as you think.â
Age 17: Driving the Impala
Finally, the day came when Y/N turned 17, and Dean decided it was time she learned how to drive the Impala. She couldnât have been more excited as she climbed behind the wheel, her dad sitting shotgun with Sam and Cas in the backseat.
âNow, remember,â Dean said, his tone serious, âyouâre not just driving any car. This is Baby. You treat her with respect, got it? Sheâs practically your mother.â
Y/N rolled her eyes but smiled. âYes, Dad. Got it.â
They drove down an empty road, and after a few cautious miles, she started feeling comfortable, pressing a little harder on the gas. Sam teased her about being careful, while Cas watched out the window, seemingly fascinated by the passing scenery.
Dean turned on the radio, and âHey Judeâ by The Beatles started to play. Y/N lit up, glancing at her dad with a grin, and he started singing along with Paul McCartney. Soon, Sam joined in, and finally, even Cas tried humming along.
âNa-na-na, na-na-na-na!â they all sang together, and Y/N felt a swell of happiness, caught up in the joy of the moment with her family.
By the time they pulled back into the bunker, Deanâs smile was wider than ever. âNot bad, kid,â he said, ruffling her hair.
As they got out, Y/N felt a deep, warm sense of belonging. This family, this strange and chaotic lifeâthey might not have been typical, but they were hers, and she wouldnât trade a single moment.
