"are bricks rocks?" she thought about it for a second. "i mean, i guess if we're using a very loose definition...okay, yeah, i could be convinced. and cement is probably rock-like too, and houses are made out of that as well, right?"
"i'm classing them as structured rocks. see? i knew you'd be on board!" he clapped his hands with a triumphant grin "we'll rebuild this town in no time. at the end of it they'll be like henderson no that's too many buildings"
"You are still standing, but should we keep pushing our luck?"
"i'm a gambling man, julian. what's life without some risk. you've got to risk for the reward, my friend"
"Now we're talking! And there's a lot of money in property development, you know, so, we could be rich. We will be rich. I'll run the numbers and you do the heavy lifting, how does that sound?"
"rich in life and rich in numbers! living the dream, i like the sound of that. uhhhh....no. i can't lift for shit, you've seen me in those training sessions. how about outsourcing to the community? we're adding to the job market"
"i know you shouldn't give up your day job. hey, how about this? you get ana to sign off on it and i'll get you all the straw, sticks and bricks you need to live out this fantasy. until then, you're coming with me."
"hell yeah, ana will trust the vision. she'll sign off on this. wha- where? is it the training room? my brusies have just healed and i hear russo's been told not to bite again and i know that means i'm going to get bitten"
"well, i am finding it really difficult to argue with you here. i tell you what, you get enough big, strong, torsos on board and i'll approve it for you. did my rounds this morning, russo had to be reminded there's no biting so... there's that. i think they miss you down there, henderson. you should jump in and show 'em how it's done."
henderson grinned triumphantly at the win. "how many torsos are we talkign here? two? ten? a bakers dozen? russo had to be reminded not to bite? that doesn't fill em with confidence. i don't know, i don't want bitten. last time i think even my toes were bruised."
"Ten out of ten initiative, my guy. The schematics.. I think we can go higher personally. Let's give these people a balcony."
"oh hell yeah, i see the vision. we'll have this town built better than before. i'll update the drawings, we'll build higher than the sky!"
"i'll keep that in mind for when we get back to the real world. there's still a chance the wicked witch upstairs'll wave their wand and sort it out. we'll keep you as plan b, though. have you been down to the training room today yet?"
"i really don't see why i can't be plan a here. i'd really rock this, right? i'll assemble a team of people who are strong because i have the upper body strength of a twig, and we'll nail it. no i've not been down in training yet, have you?"
Julian took a moment to decide if Henderson was joking or not. "I'm slightly worried that you might kill yourself trying."
"me? this head has had more bonks than i can count and like the great elton john said i'm still standing"
"oh, so you were lying to me? i feel completely betrayed. but i do like the sound of 'henderson the house builder' not going to lie. something about the alliteration is nice. although i'm not fully convinced about a house made out of rocks?"
"no, i wasn't lying, it's called project planning. i might get myself a little hat to make it official. houses are made out of rocks all the time, bricks count as rocks, right?"
"Oh we know, and we've kept count. God. How do you do it? How do you stay so positive literally against all odds? It's... exhausting just listening to you."
"damn, we still got the scoreboard? well what else is there to do? sit still and complain and cry about it? it doesn't change anything. doing that is exhausting. things can only get better, faith"
"if anyone could do it through sheer willpower alone, it'd be you, henderson. you want me to get you a hammer or something?"
"hell yeah, danny! that's the attitude! can you believe that some people around here don't have any faith in me and my skills?"
"easy there, picasso. let's just focus on clearing this area first and then you can get creative."
"ey, the first step is to visualise. i'm picturing houses everywhere, people happy and we get the good snacks as a thank you. it's a full proof plan, man."
"henderson... let's just say it's a good thing we don't have to pay insurance premiums anymore."
"why? the insurance companies would pay out on the houses and then in comes the super team to rebuild"
"c'mon, henderson. i just got here... let's can the dumbass ideas for ten minutes?"
"i don't know why everyone is doubting my abilities? carmen, you know i've got this. it's me, henderson. i can really nail this. look, i did drawings and everything"
