"oh, i bet. you've done well so far and you look good doing it." lucille grinned at the mention of her engagement. she really couldn't hide her smile. putting up her hand she showed off her ring to ingrid. "thank you, i'm really excited." nodding along, "please do. every host deserves to know what they did well. especially with something as big as this."
"it helps that jamie is a meticulous planner, i just make sure the vision happens and stays true to the plan" ingrid leaned in and looked at the ring. it was stunning, only the best for lucille "it's beautiful, a fitting ring for you. how far are you in on your planning?" she asked curiously "i will, it was a new caterer we went with for this evening so i'm glad it paid off. she'll be happy to hear that they were a good choice"
"i know you won't and i may say, you are my perfect proxy. you've handled everything just as i would have and you know i trust your instincts. yes, of course! i'm having a marvelous time, darling. i'm surrounded by interesting art and people, my dearest friends and family. oh, and the wine is to die for you. this already feels like a night i won't ever forget," jamie smiled fondly. at ingrid's mention of their gatecrasher, she waved a hand. "nothing to worry about. if anything, it's my fault. i should have reached to blythe before now and made sure she was on the list. nevermind, all's well that ends well. plus, in a true plot twist, i do believe that roman won't be any trouble tonight." in fact, it may have even been a fresh start for them.
"excellent, i do love to hear it. you're just going to adore the pieces i've managed to curate, i know how you appreciate an up-and-coming artist. sure but you're especially attentive," jamie complimented before letting out a delighted laugh. "yes, i fear i do have that impact on people when i first meet them. i'm glad we could get past that phase to now."
the praise from jamie was like being given a little gold star, and ingrid thrived off little gold stars. "it's a relief that you're enjoying your night. i'd hate for you to go to all this effort planning the evening to not enjoy it." she smiled at her boss raving about the event she was having a time at. ingrid nodded along with jamie as they discussed blythe's arrival. "i've added an extra seat at a table far from roman to avoid the possibility of any issues, regardless if he said he was going to behave tonight." she had spoken to roman herself for a portion of the evening and what jamie said did line up with what roman had told her about wanting to avoid drama. maybe this was the day that they could all mark on their calendars as the day roman ravenwood truly behaved. "when i spoke to him earlier he did say that he didn't want any dramas to ruin your night" surprisingly thoughtful for a man that the press frequently debated on whether or not he had a heart.
"i'm keen to see which ones you've selected. i did see some of the pieces in passing when i was talking to some people, but i will be making a point to stop by and admire them properly." she smiled. art was something she had always been interested in but it wasn't until her feet hit new york that her eyes had really been opened "yes, for my own sanity, i'm glad we're passed the anxious almost throwing up portion of our working relationship. the brat pack all brought similar reactions, i wasn't used to being around famous people. now i feel like i'm herding cats when i'm trying to get you all organised at one of your events"
"what else was i supposed to do when stuck in a hospital bed?" hell-raising was the logical answer. annoying the hell out of his sister and anyone else that visited him was another. he hadn't been the best patient. in fact, he was a nightmare. mad at the world, delusional that he could've returned to football, a true hellion to all that had arrived at his bed side while he healed. "worse." he answered simply "so much worse. i'm lucky to be here"
this was ridiculous, why was he partaking in pinky promises? "it's a word i did and will continue to use." if there was one thing he and blythe weren't during their relationship it was boring, even until the very end. him walking out of their wedding, her showing up unannounced to his friends event, they were still keeping each other on their toes. "i'm sure you'll probably regret it at some point" he shrugged "you've been hanging around jamie and rebecca too long." he joked. petty when provoked was right on the money "she works security, yeah? i met her when i was getting the grand tour of the studio. sibling relationships are always rocky"
"i don't know, rest up?" she offered with a amused look. it was good to know that he had remained the same since his younger days. confident, troublemaking, surprisingly funny when he wanted to be. ingrid's brow furrowed at the sound of the severity of his injuries "shit, that bad? wow, roman. i had no idea. i know the press have their versions but i think we can agree that we take what they say with a pinch of salt"
she didn't know the reason why the wedding never went ahead but it also wasn't her place to ask. it was none of her business and she quite enjoyed the unlikely friendship she had struck up with roman, she wasn't going to risk that. "i'm sure i will" she agreed "i don't see the downside of hanging out with jamie and rebecca too long. you're just mad that you feel the wrath of the petty when provoked from them. in their defence, stop provoking them" she laughed briefly. "supposed to be, yeah." she sighed "i don't know, roman. you and rebecca seem to have a great sibling relationship, mine doesn't even want to pick up the phone"
Sienna smiled at Ingrid. She was happy that Jamie had someone as dedicated as Ingrid working for her. This party was perfect to her, and she was sure that was thanks to her. "Well, I will keep an eye out for any creative liberties and report them back to you. Promise." She prayed that they were done trying, or else Ingrid would definitely take care of it. "The press stuff has been a lot of it. I have been doing so many interviews. The season finale is coming up, a lot of big surprises, I bet. My cousin is helping throw the party, so I think I have to make an appearance."
ingrid smiled and nodded "thanks, i appreciate it. i'd rather avoid the fire instead of having to put one out" now if that organiser tould keep to the plan then hopefully there wouldn't be any more dramas. everyone seemed to be well behaved this evening, and she was praying ti stayed that way. "those press junkets are no joke. scheduling jamie's and making sure it doesn't cross over with her other obligations has been a whole thing. that makes sense, you'll be fine to go. after a certain point in the evening the brat pack end up reminiscing. you don't need to be here for that"
she was interested in seeing how the night would go. jamie park's hosting an art gallery was an event she couldn't imagine anyone wanted to miss and as she walked through the gallery, she could see why people would want to fight for invites. lucille laughed, "no judgement here. trust me, i understand how it is hosting an event. yes, it's beautiful. love the horderves."
"thanks, yeah it's been a real run around for this event. i hear you're planning a wedding now. congratulations on your engagement" she smiled. it was something that ingrid had got close to once but it had all fallen apart "i'll be sure to let jamie know that the horderves are going down well"
the dig about lili not picking up her phone was expected but it still stung. her thoughts were spiraling to the worst possible case scenario now. ingrid was here. gabriela was here. what if something happened to ingrid? what if she was collateral damage? lili had to focus tonight, she couldn't be distracted by worrying about her baby sister. "i was going to call you back-," she started but was cut off by her explanation (and further digs, deserved and otherwise). "okay, leave mahesh out of this. he's literally the nicest person who's ever existed and jamie will love him. i have a handle on the guest list, thank you. you're just the last name that i thought i'd-... look, that isn't the point. are you staying in new york now? for good?"
the hushed aggressive conversation between sisters was thankfully drowned out by the party going on around them. that much alone would save her ass if jamie asked about it. "when? the thirty-second of julember? when pigs fly? when hell freezes over?" she was getting riled up and had to catch herself "no. you know what? it doesn't matter. you weren't going to call and i stopped calling. consider the message got. and mahesh may have been entirely delightful from the brief conversation i had with him but that isn't the point. the point is you stuck some random into my bosses event...your bosses event for the evening might i add. you obviously don't since you're sneaking friends in and blythe elswood managed to roll in here without an invite" security?? she only hoped something didn't happen tonight because going by the track record of this event they'd all be doomed "i've been in new york, lili. this whole time i've been here, and i'll continue to be here for as long as i want to be"
CAMILA MORRONE as CAMILA DUNNE Daisy Jones & The Six, 1.04: Track 4: I Saw The Light
roman knew he was in the clear when he had earned a smile from her "i was actually but you better believe i raised hell when i was conscious. i made use of my time. i don't remember much of it, bad football injury took me out"
"fine, if i must" he rolled his eyes when he was met with a pinky and raised his own to link his pinky with hers to seal the deal. he couldn't believe it. he was still banned from multiple hotels because of his antics and now he's making pinky promises with jamie's assistant all because he missed a premiere and came to this thing to make it up to her. this was some bullshit. her moment of sincerity caught him off guard "i'll keep that in mind" he wasn't sure anyone had ever said that to him. "at least we were interesting which can't be said for most of the couples around here these days." he wasn't avoiding the topic per say, but if there was anyone he should speak to first about it he figured it should be the woman he walked away from. he owed her that. however, now wasn't the time or the place "finally someone appreciates and acknowledges my talents." he joked "what about you? you work for and are surrounded by actors daily, i'm sure you've picked up some dramatics"
goddamn roman ravenwood, still stupidly charming even when he was being the cause of one of her many headaches. "that doesn't surprise me at all that you were making the most of your time to hell raise" she knew about the injury, it was all over his wiki page and he had talked about it in the past on talk shows. it sounded horrific, never mind living it "was it really as fucked up as they make it sound?"
ingrid flashed him a smile when he linked their pinky's. it was a done deal, he couldn't go back on it now. it was a sacred oath. now that she thought about it, she didn't see roman smiling much, or at all even. maybe that was why it had stood out to her. "sure, interesting is a word you could use." he wasn't lying, they had been far more entertaining than any other couple around. the pairing made sense even if it didn't work out. she didn't press more, it was obviously still a fresh topic and an open wound. it had only been three months. she respected that he was keeping his cards close to his chest about it all instead of going to the press or airing everything out. ingrid rolled her eyes "don't make me regret tossing you the credit." she laughed "maybe, i've not put them to the test. my sister can bring that side out of me, it's a rocky relationship right now. i can be petty when provoked"
"oh, of course! i mean, i won't tell the boss either way-," jamie winked. when she was in her twenties, there was very little that would have stopped her from breaking the rules. those were the moments that were forever immortalized on google images. she listened intently, nodding as ingrid explained the situation at hand. she was relieved to see the crystal was being unpacked and by the sounds of it, ingrid have every last, tiny, detail covered. she had so much passion- so much fire!- jamie could hardly look away. "you are my lifeline, my darling. i would certainly think twice about standing toe-to-toe with you. i'm so glad to hear you have everyone else whipped into shape. it is perfect, ingrid."
jamie reached out to give both of her hands a grateful squeeze. "wonderful! ah, yes, that is quite the find. please promise me you'll find the time to enjoy the evening thoroughly. once we get past midnight, all bets will be off anyway. it won't matter if we're drinking from champagne flutes or old boots." jamie pressed a hand to her heart. "thank you, sweetheart. truly... you're always going above and beyond for me. i don't know if new york would feel quite so homely without you in action here."
ingrid laughed at jamie's wink. she was lucky to have a boss as kind and fun as jamie. some people were dealing with hellish bosses but she had won the assistant lottery, there was no way a complaint would be heard leaving her lips about jamie king. looking over to the event organiser who had stopped to stare at jamie and her, ingrid shot them a look of daggers to startle them back into unpacking the crystal. "anything to help. i won't accept anything that you wouldn't. are you having a good time? i saw there were some unexpected situations unfolding you were dealing with." mainly the random uninvited arrival of blythe elswood, and who couldn't watch like a hawk when roman ravenwood was around. the man screamed trouble, but at least his sister was here to keep him somewhat in line.
grinning, she gave jamie's hands a squeeze in return "i will, i promise. i do want to try and see the pieces before the night is over." as an art lover, ingrid had every intention of taking her time to see the artwork on display and if that meant she was the only one left in the gallery at the end of the night to allow her time to look at them, then that was what was going to happen. "flutes or boots feels like a party theme waiting to happen" she laughed "you do know it is my job to do that for you, right?" she joked "it does give me relief that i'm doing the job well for you. i remember being so nervous when i first met you. i thought i was going to throw up"
"That is what they say." Sienna smiled as she looked around the party, she almost felt bad for whoever organised this event and messed things up. Messing things up for Jamie Park was one thing, but it was so much worse when Ingrid was involved. "Parties are the worst, nothing goes right." She did a little spin in the dress. "I feel good, ready to wrap up the season. Thank you! I am headed to the Hamptons for another party after this."
"cute" she noted at sienna's answer. like her boss, ingrid was a force to be reckoned with. especially when it came to someone messing something up that would affect jamie in any way. "it would go fine if the damn organiser would listen to the instructions they were given and avoided trying to take creative liberties, but that's been nipped in the bud now." it better have been or else ingrid was going to have another heated conversation with them "you must be, it's been a long season for you all. i hear the new scripts are due to be given out as well. no rest for the talented it seems. oh that sounds fun, i've spoken to a few other people are dipping out to head over there."

yes, he liked ingrid. she was painfully comfortable in this world and telling you to your face what she thought. he'd come to appreciate their chats even if half of them were her scolding him for something he had done or was yet to do. a bizarre little friendship that he was sure would wind jamie up so there was a win win to be had here for him. "i've behaved" he mocked shock "once in nineteen ninety five, worst day of my life" he joked. the real answer was august two thousand and four, the day his niece was born but he wasn't going to get sentimental about that here. he had a reputation to upkeep.
roman held up his hands. the last thing he was going to do was go and stick his hand in the tigers mouth, he was smarter than that. "believe me, i'm not here to make trouble." he didn't want to be the reason there was drama at jamie's event, that wasn't fair. especially when he was showing up this event for her, to prove that he was going to show up to these things now. roman laughed, actually laughed to the shock of those nearby, when she asked the million dollar question. he could see it now, people wondering why ingrid and him were standing in a corner to themselves and wondering what did they have in common to talk about "i have no clue. your guess is as good as mine. i will give her points for dramatics, we both had that in common when we were together"
as much as she fought it, a smile found its way onto her face when he had joked about the one day he behaved. it pissed her off when he did that, he knew he was off the hook when he could make her smile or laugh. it took any authority she had out of the conversation. "wow, a full twenty four hours. were you unconscious for most of it?" that was the only way he could behave, right? can't start problems if you're not awake.
"good. jamie would be upset at trouble and we're not going to make jamie upset, right? pinky promise" it was a rhetorical question. ingrid held up her pinky and made the grown man follow through with the pinky promise. the strongest of agreements was followed with a laugh from him. it took her back. a sound that she didn't think she's ever heard come from roman's mouth, and judging by the few nearby, they didn't expect it either. "you should laugh more, it suits you" she mentioned in a passing observation, thinking nothing of it. roman wasn't kidding when he mentioned the theatrics "well not to bring it up but almost getting married and bailing at the alter couldn't be described as anything but dramatic. the whole relationship really. you got that oscar for a reason, roman."
camila morrone as camila alvarez in daisy jones & the six
"ingrid-" lili hissed through her teeth but she was already moving away from her. she moved from task to task effortlessly like she'd been doing this job all her life. she seemed comfortable. and that would have been great under normal circumstances, okay? it would. and maybe ingrid showing up in new york would have been the kick up the ass lili needed. but it wasn't a good time. it wasn't safe. lili followed after her, full of frustration that had nowhere to go. "you work for jamie park?" permanent. it sounded permanent. "i- what-... for how long?"
she wasn't going to let her own drama with her sister cause any hiccups this evening. they could hash this out and lili could go back to ignoring her, it would be fine. ingrid quickly answered a question to another staff member passing by and directed another towards the event coordinator "oh good so you can hear, just not when your phone rings" it was a quick jab, and ingrid knew better but old habits die hard when you're annoyed at a sibling "yes, i work for jamie. i have been for a while. you'd know that if you'd bother to keep in touch. what kind of security doesn't know who their employees staff members are? and don't think i don't know that you got your friend in here. what the fuck, lili?"
How Mahesh had managed to find himself here at The Jamie Park's cocktail party was still blowing his mind and he wasn't doing the best job at remaining chill about it. Lili was working security here, so when she told him that she couldn't hang out tonight, he had been quick to remind her that on September 4th, 2024, she had said 'Mahesh, I owe you one.' and he was cashing in!
"Shrimp puffs!" He exclaimed excitedly as a tray glided past him–he grabbed three–and when the wine went by, he couldn't be stopped from grabbing one of those too. His eyes locked with the woman on the other side of the tray and he gasped. "Ingrid?" Had Mahesh ever met this woman before? No, he had not, and a nervous laugh escaped him. "Sorry, I'm Lili's best friend and she's always going on about you. What did you ask?" He paused for a moment as he remembered, "Right! Yeah, having the best time! Are you?"
ingrid was on a mission to make sure there wasn't even a napkin out of place at this event. she had spent too much time going over every detail with jamie for anything to go wrong, she won't allow it. the unexpected arrival of blythe elsewood had distracted her from anyone else who wasn't on the original guest list slipping in.
she stopped when he mentioned her name, confused at how he would know her. she hated to sound ridiculous but she didn't know who this man was. lili's best friend. of course lili got her friend into the event, how else would he get by security. "and does lili's best friend have a name? i doubt i cross lili's mind at all, nevermind her going on about me to someone." she found the whole thing hard to believe. what? lili can't pick up a phone but is talking about her to her friends? hell must've frozen over. "i'm working but yes i suppose i'm having as good a time as someone who's working"
