2014: A Testing Year
Too many times this year has tested my patience. Too many times this year has tested my mental state and my self-worth. Too many times this year has tested just how strong-willed and strong-hearted I need to be the older I get. But here I am, at the end of this challenging time. It wasn’t that life didn’t go the way I wanted or life wasn’t as beautiful as I hoped for but that everything was so damn trying. Trying to save face when someone so close to home landed in the hospital. Trying to make it yet through another day of work unscathed either physically or mentally. Trying to put myself out there in a way I have yet to. For all the trying I’ve done, I became too tired to see my someone’s health went back to normal, surviving the kind of job I’m in is a rewarding accomplishment within itself, & that dating seemed to have slightly made an appearance. This was the year where my personal focuses took a screeching halt. The distractions of all of these three things threw off my focus on wanting to travel, getting in shape, and figuring out what I want to do with my life. This year left me emotionally drained from holding myself together from all the drama that shadowed almost every step I made since January. Now I’m here. It’s December and I am three days away from the New Year. I’m not here to complain about my experiences in 2014, but I’m here to remind myself to get back on track and let next year be for me. Do whatever you can to make the upcoming year yours because there’s no time to waste. It’s the year I turn a quarter century old & if you ask me, I’d like to have better experiences to show for it. I want to show up to my 25th and say, “You experienced as much as you could. Now keep going and experience the rest!”
You don't come across as many good covers these days. But some how.. Taylor Swift does.
Let there be hope. Somewhere. For an old reality to develop into a new one.

“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”
John Lenon
Turn your attention to this idea: You cannot be wealthy if you resent wealthy people. You cannot be successful if you resent successful people. You cannot be happy if you resent happy people. Whatever you resent is a statement of what you lack. This also applies to healing. You cannot be healed if you have resentment towards anyone because resentment breaks down your immune system and literally causes your own sickness.

"There are infinite numbers between 0 and 1. There’s .1 and .12 and .112 and an infinite collection of others. Of course, there is a bigger infinite set of numbers between 0 and 2, or between 0 and a million. Some infinities are bigger than other infinities. A writer we used to like taught us that. There are days, many of them, when I resent the size of my bounded set. I want more numbers than I’m likely to get, and God, I want more numbers for Augustus Waters than he got…
