‘Paclitaxel and docetaxel are semisynthetic derivatives of extracted precursors from the needles of yew plants. These drugs have a novel 14-member ring, the taxane. Unlike the vinca alkaloids, which cause microtuble disassembly, the taxanes promote microtubule assembly and stability, therefor blocking the cell cycle in mitosis. The 18th century statue of the Virgen de la Amargura (Virgin of Bitterness) in the church of San Juan de la Palma in Seville, Spain.

The statue is normally carried around the streets of Seville in a 7 hour long procession that starts in the evening on Palm Sunday, and ends in the early hours of Monday morning. The procession has been cancelled this year due to the coronavirus outbreak in Spain.
