Ohara Mari Smile UR “バーニングシャイニー”
Matsuura Kanan Pure UR “そばにいるよ”
“You haven’t changed since then, have you?”
ohara.
every breath feels suffocating to her, throat threatening to shut completely with each moment she spends sitting in silence at the noisy event. it’s a party, one would assume at first glance, but her gaze is shifting through the faces in the crowd and a second glance makes it all but clearer: she’s in a sinner’s domain. she catches the unsightly interlocking of lips between two in the distance and she scoffs, the confusion brought about in her scrutiny disappearing for the visible grimace she let come to the surface. disgusting, deplorable, damned —
red is a wonderful color.
the comment causes thin brows to raise, the surprise lost in the calming of her features. lips twist a smidgen into a frown, but it straightens to return a lost indifference as she lets her eyes trail from blonde to the hand outstretching itself with the caught compliment. the skin of her cheeks flare with the possibility of a blush, but she scowls. her eyes narrow onto wiggling fingers, but she pays it no mind. instinct wants her to swat the curious part away, but the edge of the other’s potential insult pries her away from doing anything of the sort. she casts her attention to the left, a sigh leaving her at seeing yet another hideously romantic exchange being done.
“ i’ll do my best to pretend i heard nothing beyond your feelings on the color red. ”
her voice feels as inaudible as a whisper in the cacophony of music and laughter around them, but she continues despite that. she requires an answer as to how and why she ended up in a cleverly disguised brothel, but the girl before her hardly resembled that of someone capable of orchestrating such a disgraceful affair.
“ is this party your doing? ”
“I don’t know, maybe it is? But who cares? A party is a party.” She slides closer, bumps her hip against the other girl’s and finds amusement in the adorable mix of horror and outrage that clouds her features.
“But I guess you’re not the partying type?” There is a glass with a very long stem in her hand, she does not remember picking it up but she feels like its been in her grasp for as long as she has been alive. She swishes it around haphazardly, its bubbly gold contents almost laughing as it spins around, skirting just below the rim. She hasn’t taken a drink yet but she likes the way holding the glass makes her feel.
The band plays some irritably familiar tune and Mari finds herself humming even though she hates the song. Across the ballroom floor a man in mask that looks like some sort of angry rabbit winks their way and Mari smiles, instinctively leaning forward and giggling into her companion’s ear.
“Well even if you’re not the partying type it looks like you’re someone’s type.” She leans against the other girl, mouth hovering close to her ear (though her smile-- smug in the light, bashful if you squint a certain way-- is very much directed at the man across the room).
“Somebody likes you!” Her voice is quiet, but it follows the tune of the stupid melody drifting through the air.
