It's a new year, and I remembered tumblr again!!

I've been getting back into journaling (in my new moleskine and also on my ipad - ipad baby moment), and I'm considering trying vlogging again for youtube! I'm a little scared to do it because I feel like my small subscriber community is there for my covers and occasional original music, and not for random videos and vlogging. But ultimately if I enjoy it, it's my channel and I should probably do whatever makes me happy! Something to mull over a bit I guess.

I put out my song "ablaze" on youtube and soundcloud this weekend! I wrote it last year, then spent months working on it, and I'm super proud of the songwriting!

The bridge is one of my favourite things I've ever written, but I ultimately decided not to distribute it for streaming because it's completely fictional. (It's lowkey about a fictional character who's based on a fictional character who's based on a fictional character lmao)

I'm currently spending countless hours working on some songs that I will be releasing properly, but in the meantime here's ablaze!:

Update on the digital detox: I'm proud of myself! I'm going to keep going this week, expanding a bit to my laptop, and perfecting how well I'm following the goals I set for myself.

I want to make sure I'm using my screen time to do enjoyable, useful, or interesting things. I don't mind having a fairly high screen time on my laptop as long as it's because I'm producing music, editing videos, watching my favourite youtube channels, etc. Really hoping to spend more time making music, because that's what I love to do most :)

Finally committed and I’m gonna cut back on mindless digital consumption!! I’ve done this in the past, but I’ve been sucked back down the digital rabbit hole recently.

I know my screen time isn’t as high as many people I know, and I even tend to use social media productively (sharing my art and engaging in online communities). But I’m also someone who has so many hobbies offline, and I’m starting to find myself scrolling rather than tackling my endless list of things to try, or enjoying my hobbies and environment! This just makes me sad, because I know I’m a creative person, and an intellectual person who loves to read and to learn. I know I love being outside and connecting with nature.

So, down with mindless consumption! I made goals and I plan to stick to them :)
