Ok, I have this theory that I absolutely believe in. It’s clear that Julie Plec loves to paint Damon as the evil brother and Stefan as the good one. She does it all the time. However in reality, it’s the complete opposite. This week’s episode really showed it with both the brothers’ humanity shut off. Even with his humanity off, Damon’s inherit goodness is always trying to break through. He may do bad things, but he’s never not fighting it on some subconscious level. He doesn’t take pleasure in senseless evil actions. Stefan, on the other hand, parades himself around as a bleeding heart when he has his humanity but when he doesn’t have it his true nature is clear. Without humanity, Stefan ENJOYS killing masses of people for no true reason, and there is no attempt by him on either a conscious or subconscious level to flip his humanity back. Once it’s off, he doesn’t ever want it back like Damon does. He’s inherently evil. The only reason he acts morally when he has humanity is because he can’t face what he knows he is. Damon is the truly good brother.

Don’t fight me on this.
