Asher: then when we got out of the water he wanted to fight me like I did something wrong... So I bolted because NO THANKS.
Asher: anyway, can I come for dinner tonight?
Melody: Good. Dont fight beach bums. they have no money to take when u sue them ;)
Melody: of course! what do u wanna eat?
Melody: moms working so its just me and min
kai-jungâ:
melody watched as her daughterâs attention was quickly caught by the cookie and she breathed a sigh of relief. it would keep the little girl busy for a few minutes and melody could breathe and chat with kai. ânice to meet you kaiâ, she said with a smile as she sat down. the girl understood what he meant about parents and their unruly children. minnie had been on plenty of playdates where the parents had let their kids run wild in someoneâs business. âi promise youâll never catch minnie doing that. weâre learning not to touch things that donât belong to us. its going well despite her trying to be a whipped cream thief a few seconds ago.â, she said with a chuckle.Â

melody nodded, pulling his arm a bit tighter against her. she smiled at his cute bunny smile. their daughter had the same smile, it was something sheâd always thought was adorable about the pair. lucky for her, her daughter looked a lot like her otherwise so it was easy to hide who her father was. it wouldâve been hard if sheâd been her fatherâs twin. âhows work going? lots of tattooing?â, she asked, looking over at him. sheâd always been impressed by his artwork, especially his ability to take a drawing from a page and practically flawlessly transfer it to someoneâs skin. âone day i will definitely get a tattoo from you. i have a few ideas but i think theyâre too basicâ, she laughed.Â

haesoofmâ:
melody smiled wide. âperfect! consider yourself uncled.â, she said, smiling. she was excited that haesoo had missed her just as much as she had missed him. he was so sweet, it was going to be nice to have such a friendly presence back in her life. âexactly! once iâm ready for college, i hope iâll know. i feel like iâm going to feel so old being in classes with eighteen year olds.â, she said, pouting teasingly. she knew that it would be fine, she was just nervous about all the changes that would be happening by the time it came around. melody turned her attention back to her friend and smiled at him. âthats okay. youâre all mine for now then. movie and pizza nights please! minnies a good snuggler.â, she said with a smile. the girl shook her head. ânah, no time with the little one.â, she said, petting minnies head gently. when haesoo asked minnie her favourite, melody tilted the menu so her daughter could see. âdat oneâ, the little girl said, pointing to the cupcake that had a mini figure of a cat on it. âsheâs really into cats right now. our neighbours have one.â
olliceâ:
melody smiled brightly at her friend. she followed him out of the shop, her eyes widening a bit when he asked why she didnât drink. âjust not into it anymore i guess. lifeâs really taken away my ability to go out.â, she said with a shrug. technically it was true, he just didnât need to know why she couldnât go out anymore. the girl tucked her hair behind her ears and linked arms with the boy like they would back when they were close. plenty of interesting things had happened, but she wasnât sure how or when to tell him about them. telling someone they were a father randomly wasnât exactly the smart thing to do. sheâd need to sit him down and talk to him about it. âjust, a lot of curveballs i guess. what about you? what have you been up to?â
haesoofmâ:
melody smiled softly. thankfully haesoo wasnât the judgmental type and had always been a big sweetheart. âif youâd like to be an uncle, then totally! iâd love for minnie to have lots of aunties and uncles but i donât want to force the title onto anyone.â she said with a smile. the girl laughed softly and ruffled minnieâs hair gently. âitâs been a long time, huh? iâm glad weâve gotten to see each other again though. itâs so good to see you again though. i canât say it enough. iâve seriously missed you.â, she said with a bright smile. it warmed her heart when he offered to watch minnie. she knew the little girl got tired of spending all her time with mom and grandma. melody took a seat and shrugged slightly. âi havenât figured that out yet. iâve got another two years to discover whatever my passion might be. computer science is amazing though. good looks and smart? someone better scoop you up quick.â, she said with a smile. the girl nodded as he spoke. sheâd have to make a mental note to stop by the bar sometime to see him. âsleep is important! iâm sorry to hear youâre not in a relationship anymore, but new beginnings can also be exciting.â, she said with a soft smile. âare you back in the dating scene?â, she asked as she looked over the menu.
olliceâ:
when ollie began smiling, a wave of relief washed over melody and she felt more at ease. his familiar smile was comforting. melody smiled and nodded. âof course. i wouldnât trust anyone else with something permanent going on my body.â, she said with a soft laugh. the girl nodded âthat would be wonderfulâ she smiled. the girl grabbed her purse and sat up. âcoffees probably best. i donât really drink much anymore.â, she said, shaking her head. she missed going to parties, but since sheâd gotten pregnant sheâd always been too busy to go out and eventually her tastes turned from jagerbombs and mini dresses to wine and sweatpants. âiâve been pretty good.â, she said as she followed him out of the tattoo parlour. âlifes been very busy.â   Â
haesoofmâ:
melodyâs smile faltered a bit when he asked if the little girl was her sister. had she forgotten to tell him sheâd been pregnant? hopefully he wouldnât ask too many questions. âminnie is actually...my daughter.â, she said with a shy smile, hoping there wouldnât be judgment. haesoo was a sweetheart and she figured he wouldnât but the fear was always there. the little girl waved to haesoo before tugging on melodyâs sweater. melody pulled out her phone and quickly pulled up an episode of sesame street and the little girl took the phone and tuned out. âwell, iâve been raising her mostly. iâm hoping to go to college once she starts preschool. other than that iâve just been living life i guess.â, she said, her bright smile returning. âhow have you been? its so good to see you again.â

kai-jungâ:
just as minnie reached to touch the whipped cream on kaiâs hot chocolate, melody grabbed her hand. âno, minmin. no touching. itâs not yours.â, she said with a small sigh. she knew her daughter was just curious but did she have to be curious about other strangersâ food? âthat would be great.â, she said, always open to the idea of making new friends. being a young mom had really isolated her in her friend group. âiâm melody.â, she said with a smile as she placed her daughters cookie on a napkin in front of her and brought her coffee over to kaiâs table. âthanks for being so nice. people arenât always friendly when missy here gets nosy.â
olliceâ:
melody could instantly tell that maybe her presence wasnât one he was excited to see. the girl exhaled sharply, her nerves were strong. his laughs sounded almost hollow to her and it made her heart drop, unaware that it was due to him being as nervous as she was. she knew she had to tell him at some point but this clearly wasnât the time. the girl nodded. âyeah, no...iâm not here to get a tattoo. maybe one day but today is not that dayâ, she said, flashing him a small nervous smile. âi was hoping we could talk. i didnât mean to ambush you at work, i just really didnât know how to go about approaching you...â, she said with a soft sigh. âhow have you been?â
Haesoo had to double check when he got the text, he didnât hear from Melody for so long that it seemed unlikely sheâd text him now. But he was really glad to hear from her, even after so long. Theyâve always got along well and he did consider Mel one of his close friends. They had agreed to meet at the Sweet Dreams Bakery that afternoon and he was looking forward to it. Haesoo had arrived a few minutes ago and got a table for them, sitting down and looking through the menu as he waited for Melodyâs arrival. After a few more minutes, he smiled upon looking up and spotting her. âHey! Itâs been so long. How have you been, Mel?â @itsmelshinâ
melody had really isolated herself from ollie and his friends when sheâd found out she was pregnant. it was too risky, she didnât want to end up blabbing about who the father was and she knew there would be lots of questions. now that minnie was older and it was evident that the father âwasnât aroundâ she hoped that questions wouldnât be a priority. she was excited when she texted haesoo and heard back from him about getting together. the pair had always been good friends and sheâd missed spending time with him. it was going to be good to see him. sheâd tried to get her mom to watch minnie but her mom had work so the little girl was in tow with her. she led the girl into the bakery and waved to haesoo when she saw him. she walked over and sat the little girl down before hugging haesoo gently. âiâve been good! how have you been? this is minnie by the way.â, she said, gesturing to the small girl enamoured by a straw wrapped a previous customer had left behind.Â
STARTER CALL â> OPEN
Kai had moved little on his Sunday, he spent most of the day locked in his apartment watching whatever lame Christmas movies he could find on Netflix and the more he watched the more he hated them, all of them had the same storyline with the same ending. Kai picked up the fancy pillow that sat on the opposite end on the couch and throw it, the pillow almost hitting the tv. âokayâ the man said out loud to know one. âI need to get out of here.â and with that the boy walked to his room, changed, grabbed his wallet, keys and phone from the table and left his stuffy apartment.Â
Walking down the street he heard children crying and some laughing, he saw couples holding hands and made a disgusted face the moment they walked passed, he would have rather listed to the crying children. Kai had nowhere in mind he wanted to go, but ended up at The Java Break ordering himself a festive hot chocolate, and the moment he ordered he just looked at the ground and shook his head. Paying and grabbing his drink, he made his way to a seat and wondered what the rest of his afternoon held.Â
minnie had been throwing a tantrum all morning and melody was getting tired of it. she loved her daughter to no end but listening to a two year old screech and throw things wasnât her idea of a good time. she figured the little girl might be going stir crazy considering theyâd spent the past few days cooped up in the apartment cleaning, so melody thought a trip into town might be nice. after wrestling the little girl out of her pyjamas and into a jumper and tutu, they were ready to go. melody led her daughter out to the bus stop and together they bussed a few blocks over to the local cafe. if anything would cheer her daughter up, it was sugar. plus melody had been meaning to go to the bookstore nearby so once sheâd gotten them both a treat, they could go browse.
melody led the little girl into the cafe and helped her pick out a cookie that looked like a snowman. it wasnât long before they were seated at the table next to kai. melody took the lid off the little girlâs hot chocolate and instructed her not to touch it as she pulled out her phone to quickly text her mom to see if they needed anything. within seconds, minnie had made herself home at kaiâs table and was getting up in his business. âpinklesâ, the little girl said, looking at the holiday sprinkles on kaiâs hot chocolate. melody looked up to see that her daughter wasnât at her table anymore and immediately got up and went over and picked up the girl. âiâm so sorry. boundaries are not her thing lately.â, she said with an apologetic expression.

âi think if you want to alter it, then itâll be a bit more price wise considering how big it is already.â he spoke on the phone easily. âyeah well you can come to me when youâve decided, i booked a time slot for you for wednesday.â he hung up a moment later and payed attention to who he was with. âso what can i do for you?â he asked.Â
melody hadnât seen ollie in a bit. she really hoped that he had just been busy and not actively avoiding her. after unanswered text messages and attempts to hang out went ignored, she was feeling frustrated. she knew she needed to be honest with him at some point about their child, but it never seemed to be the right time. in hope of rekindling their friendship, sheâd booked a slot with him. she wasnât really interested in getting a tattoo. sheâd always wanted to get her daughterâs birth date tattooâd on her but now wasnât the time to be asking for a tattoo like that. when ollie turned his attention back to her, she smiled at him. âi want to get âi love methâ tattooâd on my forehead in comic sans.â, she said, making sure her sarcasm was evident.
