âCourse i do, girls carry everything with them. You never know when you will need things like tweezers, but itâs always good to have them with you just in case. Good job otherwise you might have got that infection â She answered, with a small smile.Olivia could see he was trying to be brave and not react but knew it hurt him. Giving him another smile she spoke. âNo problem. No wouldnât have wanted it to get a infection and you having to loose your finger.â
âGood point. I guess itâs useful to have you as a friend then -- here I thought your only purpose was to insult me.â He attempted to joke. He chuckled softly, âExactly. And infections are bad, considering whatâs been happening I will need all my fingers. Fingers are incredibly useful.âÂ

She nodded slightly, âBut, yaâ know.. there are plenty of infected people out there and yaâ have to kill them to survive.â The brunette felt she needed a hug because of the awful situation, so she threw her arms around him and gave him a hug. âThings are about to get much worse so be careful.â She said in a warm caring voice. Â
Noah was taken aback by her hug, not expecting the embrace at all. But once she wrapped her arms around him he couldn't help but to return it, hugging her tightly. âI know.â He mumbled. âI just hope we find a cure soon -- that I find a cure. You be careful too.â

âEh, it makes you appreciate your body when nothing is stuck in itâŠmore or less.â She snorted quietly at her own joke before she pinched the small piece of wood between her nails and pulled it out in one swift motion. âStop being a pussy, itâs out. Youâre alive. Barely.â
âI donât get it.â He said flatly, arching a brow. âLeave me alone, Iâm really fragile okay? Iâm more brains than anything.â

Twirling the cell in her hand, Lily stood leaned against the table of the empty lab which was pretty unusual these days but the quietness surely did her good. Sheâs been trying to reach her parents for two days straight now without much luck. When cell service wasnât a pain in the ass, no one picked up on the other side. And she tried calling everyone that would know something about whatâs happening, but got no answer there, either. âBloody hell!âshe said rather loud, dropping the phone on the table, she wasnât the one to ever show off her frustration, and it wasnât easy for her to get into such state anyway. With tears in her eyes she flinched as someone came in. âCan I help you with something?â
âUh... sorry.â Noah started awkwardly, sensing that he walked into the lab at the wrong time. âI just came to see what the results were from a test I decided to do yesterday... are you okay?â He asked, knowing something was wrong.
lunaxcage
âAre- Are you kidding me right now?!â She yells as the water went over her. âOK, so maybe I have a lot of blood on my clothes right now and my clothes seem quite dirty and my hair may be knotted but I can honestly say I showered this morning! So were you trying to not so very discreetly and slightly offensively give me a bath or am I just that hot?â
âI just wanted to annoy you.â Noah stated, a smug grin appearing on his face as he tried to lighten the mood.

It was the only logical thing to do, the girl repeated internally. âIâm sorry.â she said to him. âI.. didnât want yaâ to see-â She stopped again; her voice died away as she looked down at the infected boy. The girl grabbed his arm desperately. âCan we go, please.âÂ
He nodded, walking out of the door along side with the brunette. âListen,â He started, breaking the silence. âI know you had to do it... I donât blame you, itâs just... well, Iâm not used to witnessing that sort of stuff. Only on video games and movies.â

âInteresting I never knew that.â Ophelia said taking the sliver out while he talked. âI like pink or blue. But I donât know the history behind themâŠ.There we go all done - all better.â Ophelia told him smiling up at him.Â
âOoh, I like those. You know in the early 1900s, pink was seen by many as a colour that went better with boys, and blue as a colour that went better with girls-- Ouch!â He cut off, jumping slightly when she pinched it out. He let out a sigh of relief, âThank you.â

âEh, my roommate when I was fourteen had a fight with another kid and long story short end â she was left with scissors stuck in her leg which I had to pull out. The nurse was a mean bitch so you have to get creative.â She shrugged her shoulders and squeezed the skin around the splinter to push it out a little. âJust one second..â
âOh... gosh, that sounds awful.â Noah grimaced at the thought of pulling a pair of scissors out of someone's leg. When she squeezed on his thumb he let out a yelp. âOw!â
aiden-mcmillan
âWe donât have to worry about the stench of the living so much as the smell thatâll happen once the dead bodies start decayingâ Aiden shrugged, not phased by the subject as hand as much as he should have been âHonestly it might be a little exciting if we could study the process of decomposition- maybe we shouldâ
âI know, the dead will certainly decay faster. I just have a tendency to overanalyze and worry about other things.â Noah responded, still a little awkward since the two havenât known each other for that long. He nodded. âYes, god, yes. Thatâll be fun -- within reason, of course. Sorry, this is so awesome. Better than those science projects I got in school.â He rambled, feeling like he was finally cool by hanging around with the big kids. âSorry. I know weâre trying to find a cure, save lives and stuff. Itâs just... exciting.â

Olivia sighed, watching Noah struggle and fail. âThis is why i carry tweezers with me, for the times when you casually get a splinter.â She chuckled, grabbing Noahâs hand and gently gripped the splinter with the tweezers. âDonât worry Iâll sort you out Noah. We donât want disgusting infections and puss coming from it do we. Now this is going to hurt so be prepared.â She pulled the tweezers from his hand. âGot it!â
âYou-you carry tweezers around?â He asked, taken aback by the fact that she casually carried them. They would be the last item on his mind to put in a bag. He squeezed his eyes shut as she pulled it out. He had never been good with splinters or needles or flesh eating humans. He was more about brains than being strong. âThank you.â He cleared his throat, trying to play it cool. He hoped he didnât come off as a coward. âYeah, I mean. Could have caused a really bad infection, so...âÂ
kinleyxyoung
âI highly recommend that you stay in the lab, see Iâm a klutz too. Thatâs why I donât even try to touch any weapons I can fall into.â She dropped the box on the ground, taking a step closer to take his hand in hers and look at the splinter. âDonât move, I had to pull a pair of scissors out someoneâs leg before I can do it.â
âI think Iâll have to agree with that suggestion.â He chuckled lightly, watching curiosity as she stepped forward and took his hand n hers. He narrowed his eyes. âWait, what?â
ivanxkrasnov
âYou better work on that, there are worse things out there that can do you harm other than a splinter.Â
âI know, Iâm not living in a world where my only threat is a piece of wood. But it still hurts,â He mumbled, looking down at his throbbing thumb.
lindseyxrowland
âOne more thing.â The brunetteâs eyes roamed over the room, trying to find a weapon or something she could use it as a weapon and her pale hands grabbed a baseball bat. âWait.â Her head snapped into the direction of the infected boy. The cure would be too late and she wouldnât let him become a monster and hurt innocent people. Instantly, she decided that the only logical thing to do was to kill the infected boy. And she did. The girl hit him on the head with the baseball bat several times. âWe can go now.â Her voice broke at the end of the sentence.
âWha--â He stopped talking instantly when the girl whacked the male over the head several times with a bat. He let out a yelp and jumped slightly, watching the scene with his eyes wide. Once she was finished, he stood there silently with his lips parted. âI, um... I mean... yeah. We should-yeah.â He stammered, pointing towards the door. âgo or something.âÂ
human-ronnie
Ronnie opened her mouth to reply but jumped slightly at the sudden raise in his voice. âHey relax.âShe said moving toward him moving to take his hand in her own, her nails were a bit longer so she could squeeze the splinter out. âYou might want to bite your lip or something.âShe warned him before carefully squeezing the splinter out.Â
His nodded his head, waiting for her to remove the wood from his finger âOw, ow, ow, ow!â Was all that escaped his lips whilst she got rid of the splinter. He sighed and rubbed his thumb gently, âI hate splinters. But, um, Iâm totally cool now.â He said, embarrassed from the way he acted.
ophelia-lewis
âDonât worry just look at me and donât focus on it. Whatâs your favourite color?â She asked to distract him.Â
âMy favourite colour is verdigris green. It was introduced by the Greeks so it was one of the first artificial pigments. Itâs obtained when natural patina is formed when copper, brass or bronze is weathered and exposed to air or seawater over a period of time.â He rambled on, looking at her instead of his thumb.
kinleyxyoung
Kinley flinched at the high pitched help coming from the boy, almost dropping whatever she had in her hands. âJesus fucking christ, you almost gave me a heart attack â ew, you just staked yourself through the finger. Maybe you shouldâŠnot touch any weapons. For your own sake.â
âThis is exactly why I stick to the lab and not the battlefield.â He chuckled, trying to keep a strong face. âMy finger is throbbing. Oh my god, I need to get this out.â
