“Sounds useful.” Dylan mused with a small nod of his head, clearing his throat. “Right, yeah. Eliminate all distractions. We can start by you showing me what you’ve learned.” He said, getting into the right position as he stood in front of her. “Hit me.”

“Where? Like your hand? Your arm?”She asked before getting into position--squatting slightly as she held up her hands as fists which were slightly blocking her face as she moved to punch his arm.

He paused momentarily, holding her stare and getting lost for a short moment before he shook his head. “Okay, so we should get started. What did you learn with Liam yesterday?”

“Uh--how to concentrate on more than one thing, where to hit--stuff like that.”She said as she looked away from him once more recalling everything that Liam had taught her. “Not to get distracted.”

“I said we’re meeting in the gym – oh right, did you take the safe way here?” He laughed, stepping into the room. He locked the door behind him. “Hi.”

“I know but you’re hanging outside all willy nilly.”She said quickly throwing the door open for him before letting out a sigh of relief once he was inside and safe. “Hi--”She said quietly as she looked up to him.

Hey! Sorry to disturb. It’s Dylan, do you mind letting me in? I’m freezing my butt of out here and a Crook is probably going to show up any minute.

What the hell are you doing out there? Are you insane?! Do you have a death wish or something? Get inside!

“What do you suggest we do with them?”Ronnie wondered as she eyed her food once more before letting out a quiet sigh, “Do we bury them? Burn them?”She asked. If they were to bury them it wouldn’t be long till they ran out of room.

“Of course it does, everything I say actually makes sense you kids just think I’m saying all this for fun.” Liam mumbled, more to himself than Ronnie as he picked up his staff and gave hers a small put. “Higher, you don’t want to go for the stomach when fighting a crook. Always the head. If they go unconscious, no biting. Unless you’re aiming for the solar plexus, which is a little to specific in a fight. “

“Solar what?”Ronnie asked wishing that she paid more attention in biology class when they were going over anatomy. She nodded and raised her staff higher, heigh was not on her side so she had to really focus on holding the staff higher. “Have you had to face any yet--crooks?”Ronnie asked him.

“Yeah, that words.” Dylan agreed with a nod of his head. He was usually up early anyway, especially now since everything with the virus had been happening. He smirked, “Will do. Unless it gets hot.”

“Alright well I’ll see you then farmer John.”She said flashing him another small smile before shaking her head, “Don’t test me.”She said wagging her finger at him before stealing one last glance and turning on her heels to head back toward the hospital.

Dylan held both his hands up in surrender, “Okay, okay. I’m stopping.” He said, before he let out a laugh at her comment. “I thought they could do with some help around here.” He shrugged, “But if you’re still up for it, I could train you tomorrow?”

She thought about it for a moment, she didn’t really think this would be the best idea after she felt all flustered around him but she knew in the long run it would be for the best. The more people she learned from the more strategies she would learn and the better chance she had at survival. “Tomorrow works for me, say around eight ish?”She asked as she liked to be up early anyway, “And wear a shirt.”She commented.

“Same here. Strawberries are said to be one of the most romantic and seductive fruits out there. They’re nice with melted chocolate or whipped cream.” He responded, playing at her own game. He arched a brow up, trying his best to hide his laugh. “Right, that’s why your cheeks suddenly got red.” He mused, deciding to lean the shovel on the wall before stepping closer, pulling off his gloves. “I thought I was going to train you?”

Why did she have to say strawberries? Why couldn’t she have talked about the green beans, there was nothing sexy about green beans. “Will you just stop, maybe it took a while for my body’s reactions to catch up or something.”She quickly quipped but she knew how stupid that sounded. “Well you weren’t around, I had no idea you were out here being farmer John.”She said before finally daring to look at him once more.

A small smirk tugged onto Dylan’s lips when he noticed her stare and stammer out her words. “See something you like?” He wondered, holding the handle to the shovel whilst the end of it was placed on the ground beside him. “You look a little worked up. Come back from training or something?”

“Why yes, those strawberries--I love strawberries they are my favorite fruit.”She said rather quickly, “And you would be correct I just got back from a training session so that’s why my cheeks are red so don’t go jumping to conclusions.”She warned him, she wished she could just stop talking but she often rambled when she was nervous or flustered so she bit her lower lip gently hoping that would help her shut up.

Things were getting a little crowded in the hospital, and I’m done with carrying guns around for the next couple of days. Figured Samuel and his crew could do with another person helping him out here. I think I’m actually getting really good at this gardening stuff.

Ronnie had just finished a training session with Liam and was pretty exhausted, he didn’t go easy on her and she liked that--she wanted to be prepared for what was going on out there. She moved to tie up her hair in a messy bun as she turned the corner to walk through the garden to get to the back door of the hospital and stopped in her tracks when she saw Dylan there--shirtless. Her eyes fell on his chest for a moment before she quickly looked away, her cheeks turning a dark shade of red as she averted her gaze to some of the herbs they were planting. “Uh--y-ea.”She stammered out quickly, “Good to get some fresh air.”

His nodded his head, waiting for her to remove the wood from his finger “Ow, ow, ow, ow!” Was all that escaped his lips whilst she got rid of the splinter. He sighed and rubbed his thumb gently, “I hate splinters. But, um, I’m totally cool now.” He said, embarrassed from the way he acted.

“There all done.”She said with a small proud smile on her face, “I don’t have any bandaids on me but you should at least but some rubbing alcohol and and a bandage on that so it doesn’t get infected.”She told him.

Liam rested the end of the staff on the ground as he watched Ronnie pick up her very own. “Have you ever driven a car, Ronnie? If so, tell me if you focus on the car ahead of you only or if you keep an eye on your surroundings in general. You’re not supposed to focus on the obvious, you’re capable of reacting naturally if you keep the bigger picture in sight. If you just look at my hands, I could easily go for a kick in the stomach and you wouldn’t see it coming. Someone from the side could tackle you — that’s why you’re supposed to look at my face. You’ll still see my arms move, the staff, what is left and right of you.”
